Review Summary

Generated using AI from real user reviews
Users consistently praise the software for its powerful graphical capabilities and ease of use in handling complex mathematical computations. Many appreciate how it simplifies the process of visualizing data and equations, making it a valuable tool for research and analysis. However, a common limitation noted is the steep learning curve for beginners, which can hinder initial usability.

"High learning curve, but documentation makes it easier to learn."
What do you like best about Mathematica?

I like that it can solve symbolic equations. It's fast especially plotting large data sets. I like visualizing things so this is very convenient for me. There are also higher level commands that allows me to utilize less lines of code. I like the documentation and the examples they provide. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathematica?

Sometimes the syntax and the terminologies are different and obscure, but once I execute the operation or command I can understand what it does. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent for showing demonstrations and graphs in Physics"
What do you like best about Mathematica?

This is a great tool to demonstrate Physics concepts in a high school classroom setting and I think students respond well to seeing a graph come alive before their eyes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathematica?

This can be a little tricky to maneuver and that honestly is a reason that I can't ask students to do assignments from this because the learning curve is so great. I wish it was a little more intuitive to learn because students who plan to continue in Physics would learn this invaluable skill. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best symbolic manipulation and data analysis software available to date"
What do you like best about Mathematica?

Great library of functions, and has three features that really spoil you and if you learn them you will feel every other language is lacking: 1. interactive help menus, 2. "Everything is an expression", and 3. Slotting. Once you 'get' those three things, it's the only data processing system you'll use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathematica?

It's not the most portable system in the world, and it doesn't really contain a lot of external libraries, so what you program in it is really all you get. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Mathematica for Dynamical Systems"
What do you like best about Mathematica?

The functionality and equations are pretty simple to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathematica?

Keeps crashing and no autosave feature, even though you "compile" your code like a regular programming language. I just lost 3 hours of work because my computer crashed while running it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Always Improving!"
What do you like best about Mathematica?

Since I started using Mathematica more than 8 years ago, the tool keeps getting better and better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathematica?

All of the features that I disliked years ago have been resolved. There is nothing that I dislike (except perhaps the price and the fact that I need to pay yearly to stay up to date) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Learning curve needed, but powerful tool"
What do you like best about Mathematica?

I like using Mathematica to analyze my research and produce very complicated data. It does a great job of taking commands because it is a more powerful version of WolframAlpha. When producing/compiling data, it looks neat and organized and saving notebooks is not an issue. Work opens up just as you need it to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathematica?

There was a large learning curve and certain formalisms that I wasn't aware of. For example, in order to run a specific line of code, you have to mess with the shift key, before you press "enter" and that's not something that is advertised. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Wolfram Mathematica - King of the symbolic computation"
What do you like best about Mathematica?

Libraries, notebooks, excellent documentation with examples, interactivity with command manipulate, computational geometry, one of the best in areas such as (image processing, machine learning, neural networks, data science etc...) interactive visualizations, real world data, specialized functions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathematica?

Slow interpreter, steep learning curve, syntax differs quite a lot from other programming languages, memory usage, expensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"WR Mathematica"
What do you like best about Mathematica?

It's the best software I used to create a mathematics notebook with the maths and visuals, displayed unlike any other software. It integrates rough work and visual aspects seamlessly and displays it on one work document. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathematica?

It requires a lot of work and use to get familiar with the syntax and language used in the software. After several weeks of use, it becomes worth it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The most powerful mathematical computation program"
What do you like best about Mathematica?

Mathematica is a symbolic computation program used in many different scientific sectors. Thanks to Mathematica, we are able to perform complex mathematical calculations in a simple way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathematica?

Mathematica is a payment program. On the other hand, there are more economical packages available for students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Data Mining & FEA- Great Tool"
What do you like best about Mathematica?

I found it to generate a lot of interesting clusters when used for churn analysis and trying to identify customers of similar characteristics. While there are languages like R where you can do K Means clustering the ease of code and implementation is what stands out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mathematica?

The interface can be a little more user-friendly and the output of my commands is interspersed with my commands, cluttering everything up. Less repeatability across other platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
