This leads to the inclusion of many more checks and balances in the system than we require as a manufacturer that only seeks to meet to ISO 9001. We use MasterControl to manage the revision and distribution of our Quality Management System documents. We also use MasterControl to document training activities relative to these documents. The software allows for electronic collaboration without sending copies of documents through email. Example, our Production and QA personnel may identify discrepancies in-process or before starting a line. These events are corrected and documented, but are assessed to be low impact/minimal impact that do not require full Deviation/Nonconformance investigations. MasterControl Qx allows us to create a custom e-form to capture these scenarios. QA can then review, perform initial risk assessment, and evaluate if an investigation is required without going through the full Deviation/Nonconformance module. There are so many options within the same system. There are some modules that have permissions and access rights that are separate so the work needs to be duplicated (for example the general QMS and also Ax). The system also lacks some flexibility in some areas and instead of having the tool work for us, sometimes we feel like we need to adjust our work for the tool.
