For instance, YTD comparison is called Period Comparison in Martus or Data Source meaning the actual Budget or Actuals that is being referenced. I am also still getting myself familiar with the ReportBuilder feature and learning how I can make forecasting reports along with my Budget vs Actuals reports. I like the ability to add notes in Martus, which is really important, and I'm able to tag information easily. It's very helpful to keep an organized budget without having Excel spreadsheets flying everywhere. Having a good centralized place to access budget information is really beneficial. I found it a bit hard to find the exact videos I needed to help solve problems at first, especially as a beginner. While Martus is powerful, the insights while using the program aren't as user-friendly as they could be. There was help available, and I eventually overcame these initial issues, but learning how to use it had a steep learning curve. I like that Martus is user-friendly and syncs with our accounting software Sage. The most beneficial feature for me is being able to track budget to actual in real time. It allows budget owners to have more responsibility over their budgets and expenses, provides visibility into budget versus actual reviews, and lets us see transactions come in almost in real time. This helps us see where we stand in comparison to our budget throughout the year and track that accordingly. It was also really helpful having our own designated consultant, who was fantastic in helping us get trained and set up in the software. Internally, having one person on our team in charge of learning and teaching Martus worked well for our organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Martus? I think we're still trying to figure out how to use the Personnel feature in a way that's really helpful. Last year, instead of using the personnel feature, we just did kind of an estimate of salaries and wages costs and just put that amount into Martus as our budgeted number. It just seemed like more work to use the Personnel feature given it was our first year using Martus and we had a time constraint. I would also find it more helpful to be able to leave notes in the Dashboard \> Financials reports. When we did Q1 budget vs. actual reviews, I had to export the monthly budget comparison report into Excel, write down all my notes about each variance budget line, and save it outside of Martus. Maybe a ReportBuilder report would be more helpful, but my organization is just starting to use that area of Martus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
