**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Defense & Space | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

Suvery participation and market analysis

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

Marketpay hasn't improved much in the 15 years i've been using it. In fact the migration process has gotten worse. The technology should be adavnced enough where companies can conduct the migration process themselves. Waiting 2-3 weeks after all of the survey data has come in is bas customer service. Planning should be better on MarketPay's part. Also I don't find the client managers helpful. They just send you to other teams to answer questions.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Market Analysis is about it

**Official Response from Brooke Grimes:**

> Thank you so much for your direct feedback. We have some new team members in place who are dedicated to continuously innovating the MarketPay platform. **Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

MarketPay is so easy to use and their customer support is awesome. We have had MarketPay implemented since 2015 and they have been so great to work with every year. The PayScale annual conference, "Compference", is a great networking and learning experience and I would highly recommend attending the conference for any and all comp professionals.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

I really don't have anything negative to say.

**Recommendations to others considering Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay):**

When implementing MarketPay, we had some issues surrounding our own data and how we were going to populate the MarketPay database tables. **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

I like the ability to be able to utilize analytics with Market data and company data to beable to provide the business with timely information to help them through the market pricing process.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

The delay in getting data into the system unless you have an automatic feed. The process of getting your data to an automatic feed is relatively simple and will help your information be timely and accurate.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We utilize the tool to look at compression, market pricing and to see what trends are happening in the market. One of the best features is the dynamic reporting on year-over-year changes to your positions with their market matches so you can see the trends and how pricing has increased or decreased to be able to make informed decisions.

  ### 32. Marketpay is a great way to allow companies to compare their jobs to others.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

Marketpay is easy to use, and has good reporting and tracking of data. Its a great way to be able to compare other jobs in the market to ensure we are competitively priced and offering a competitive wage to employees.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

Marketpay is limited to only the data each survey inputs and which companies provide data back. If few companies participate in a survey, its hard to use that for analysis.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have had a couple monthly load issues but they were resolved fairly quickly when we inquired.

There is excellent functionality in Payscale, an easy to navigate platform and strong customer service. The price is fair and reasonable.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

There could be some improvements to the matching wizard and it would be nice to have the option to have reginal differentials and pay data available through PayScale rather than only through 3rd party vendors. This is great for a one stop place on creating pay scales for employees in your company.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

Sometimes MarketPay is a little tedious like when you create a new aging factor and a message pops up that all pricings will be recalculated. I also have to exit and come back into the site sometimes to get changes to take affect which can be frustrating.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MarketPay helps us efficiently benchmark jobs for clients. The new features to search the various surveys are very helpful and improve our results.

Our Client Success Managers (Marcie and Noelle) have been awesome and are a great resource.

Great compensation system. Easy to use, and if you need to build a report, the report writer is quick to learn. Anyone with basic excel skills can navigate the system.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

I've used both MarketPay and PayFactors. The community groups within PayFactors are better. I hope with the merger of the two systems; we will gain a robust community within Comptopia.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My company has three source systems that combined within Marketpay. This process has made the compensation team more efficient since all our data is standardized—no more vlookup's. We go into the system and start working.

  ### 45. MarketPay - Job pricing tool and more

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jagadeeshwaran R. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2020

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

The compensation statement and the recently introduced skills differential is one of the best features I like in MarketPay. Advanced Analytics with the YoY analysis and some of the Pre- created reports are very helpful when making any compensation analysis. Adhoc pricing is very handy to use to run a quick pricing check and look at the benchmarks from a specific survey or combination of surveys. The ease of managing all of our salary surveys in a single location, and efficiency in survey participation. On-demand training webinars and customized training are very helpful for our users to understand the MarketPay system and use it effectively on compensation management.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

There is no downside in my opinion that I could reflect here. MarketPay constantly making the tool better and anticipate the needs of the customers. My client success manager has been very helpful in helping and addressing the need of my organization using MarketPay and helping us with resolution. Fewer customization options are available. Some of them aren’t possible as it needs to be at a product level. Such as like the rounding of aged market data cannot be specific to a rule I follow which is table-based. Changing the graphs and view in the pricing window visualizer clicks.

**Recommendations to others considering Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay):**

Recommend getting a demo of the system and understand the features and capabilities the MarketPay system has to offer. This is great software for compensation benchmarking and market data analysis. Integrating with the existing HRIS system enhances the utilization and effectiveness of the MarketPay. Data right at your fingertips with little effort and credibility. This product really adds value to our Compensation team. They anticipate user needs and are constantly making improvements. I would like to have the dedicated client manager approach which has a personalized approach and worked well in the companies I have worked with.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use MarketPay primarily for benchmarking jobs. Given the size of our organization, we have 100 + surveys in about 40+ countries. It also helps to have the historical pay trends and ensures to understand the movement of the benchmark from a specific year to a year. These are very useful to be more market-oriented from a Pay standpoint.

**Official Response from Zach Torrey:**

> Hi Jagadeeshwaran, thank you for taking the time to review us! We're so happy that you're enjoying skills differentials and the many other advanced analytical capabilities that MarketPay has to offer. We're thrilled MarketPay has been an effective and comprehensible solution for you and your team. We hope to see you at Compference!

  ### 46. Service levels have gone down

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tina R. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

We use the Marketpay tool and have been happy with it.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

The fact that our AM now does less and less for us. The last time we needed help with a report, the request got sent to a service desk and what they provided was of no help at all. The quality of service has declined since MarketPay moved under the Payscale umbrella. You need to focus on a more personalized and timely customer service approach. Your clients are not just a number. When our contract is up we will likely look at other options.

**Recommendations to others considering Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay):**

Consider your customer service needs.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Market competitiveness challenges

**Official Response from Emily Calderon:**

> Hi Tina, thank you for taking the time to give us a review! We appreciate your feedback, it has been passed along to the right people.

  ### 47. More Useful than I originally thought

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

I love the fact there are so many pre-populated charts, graphs, reports already ion the system. I was originally given the log-in information when a colleague left and I took over the review/upload of data. Not having the complete time to train me, she showed me the basics and I carried on. After the Compference20 and listening to the sessions I was able to see there was so much more to the tool which I could have been learning and using besides just uploading our survey results.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

I wish an email would come out once a month with pointers, common questions, tip/tricks, or classes to improve upon their experience. With merit session quickly upon us there are so many tools which would have saved me time, effort, and a little bit of tears.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently looking to see how many people are trending significantly behind market due to the 3% merit increases year of year compared to new hires we bring in slightly under market to maintain internal equity.

**Official Response from Zach Torrey:**

> Thank you for taking the time to give us a review! We're thrilled that Compference helped you learn more about the many capabilities of MarketPay. We appreciate your feedback about a monthly email opportunity. I can assure it has been passed along to the right people!

  ### 48. Best Compensation Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda G. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

I like how easy the site is to use and how we are able to have our Job & Employee data organised.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

I do not like the fact that Market Pay cannot be synced to work day. It makes it extremely difficult to rely on the data in the MP system if it's not automatically updated to match our workday records.

**Recommendations to others considering Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay):**

It is very easy to use for beginners.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Market Pay helps us fix our pay issues that we have in regards to same titles/different levels, and etc.

**Official Response from Zach Torrey:**

> Hi Amanda, thank you for taking the time to give us a review! We're thrilled that you're enjoying the comprehensibility and organization of MarketPay. We greatly appreciate your feedback regarding the inability to sync with Workday as we are always looking to better our products for our customers. We hope to see you at Compference!

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

Great for consolidating market data in order to price our jobs. There is extensive analytics built in which.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

The interface is a bit outdated, but they are updating certain modules with a more modern and user friendly interface.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to price all of our jobs. It saves us a tremendous amount of time by consolidating all of the different market data surveys. The market data is very easy to search in Marketpay. We also load all of our employee data into Marketpay from our HR software, and there are extensive analysis and modeling tools within Marketpay (such as gender analysis reports, job pricing reports, etc).

**Official Response from Zach Torrey:**

> Thank you for taking the time to give us a review! We're so glad that MarketPay has helped you with job pricing. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and we look forward to our continued partnership!

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

Nothing really. I hope they would bring back the regional user conference that is easier to attend.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Both ad hoc and annual benchmark analyses on select job families.

**Official Response from Zach Torrey:**
