**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

For the most part, it is user-friendly. It capably stores external salary survey data and internal employee/job/pay grade structure data. Keeps things organized, saves market pricing for your jobs and preserves history.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

It feels "old school". The technology behind this product doesn't seem to have had any significant upgrades in several years. When MarketPay merged with PayFactors, I thought we would see some real synergy between what they had been developing and what MarketPay already had. But they still seem to be two separate products. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but with all the advancements in AI being hyped in every industry, I thought there might be some better tools available in compensation to assist with market pricing or basic analysis. The report library in MarketPay leaves a lot to be desired (and the report library is also one area that is not very user-friendly). The price keeps going up, but the tool is largely the same as it was about 5 years ago.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MarketPay gives us a stable platform to store our salary survey data and market matches. Prior to MarketPay, we had no tool to house and organize these things.

  ### 13. Great product

Keeping us consistent

  ### 15. Some positives but definitely room for improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

Easy to manage all job and pricing data within one platform, even despite operating in many countries and multiple currencies.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

We struggle with how they really help when it comes to survey participation, feel this was oversold when trying to obtain our business.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Help with pay equity since we had never really done a review before, however for that specifically felt that it was hard to get support people to explain the usage in a way that made sense and was quantifiable. A lot of big words and superfluous words used but felt they couldn't really define them other than to say "you're doing great and pay equity isn't an issue for your organization".

Also made it really easy to create salary structures which had previously been done in spreadsheets far more complicated than they needed to be. Easy to modify and try multiple iterations with just a few clicks.

  ### 16. Long-Time User

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

Some reports are difficult to assimilate to. We have customized fields that make the reports a bit cumbersome.

  ### 23. MarketPay

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deepa S. | Global Market Intelligence Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

I find the MarketPay tool to be quite intuitive, user-friendly and easy to navigate. **What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

How easy it is to do the pricing using "Market Price a Job"

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

How often there are isues that aiether are hard to resolve, take a lot of time to resolve or seem not having any resolution. It also does not work properly in the most crutial moments. Additionally visual report builder is yet simple for benginner users, but when trying to byild something more advanced - it is very disturbing (writing simply a code would be much appreciated).

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victoria P. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

MarketPay has been a very useful tool to use as our company is undergoing a lot of change and growth. We are able to attract and retain people by making sure that our job offers are market competitve. The report library is filled with great reports and visuals that we use for analysis and compensation decisions. Furthermore, our client success managers have been very supportive with any questions or changes we want to make to our account.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

We are in the process of changing our matching methodology and there is no easy/automated way to do this in MarkeyPay. So we have been loading manual spreadsheets into MarketPay. Our client success manager said that they are working on an automated way to do this in the future, so we are looking forward to that.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MarketPay is helping us ensure that we are paying our internal employees and prosepctice hires competitive to market. Furthermore, it is helpful for the Total Rewards Regional leads and HR Business Partners to understand employees' relative position to market so that they can help managers make informed compensation decisions.

It also integrates with our HRIS for our employee and job data to flow in weekly.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

The reporting module is complex with many options to choose from for base reports. You really need to understand what the reports consist of before using them to ensure you understand the visualizations.

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Marketpay helps us to submit accurate salary data and understand how our jobs are priced all in one tool without a million spreadsheets

  ### 32. Compensation Analyst

Determining competitive pay rates to attract and retain staff

  ### 34. Big fan, and still learning...

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Chemicals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2024

**What do you like best about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

I have used MarketPay for the last 7 years across 2 employers, and it has been immeasurably valuable at both. MP aided in major projects like laying the foundation for job architecture and pay transparency efforts. MP as a pricing database makes many annual processes much more efficient, such as assessing market movement for a job or job family year-over-year, determining new salary ranges for the year, and salary survey participation. The support team is also great to work with in completing the "data migrations" from previous years' data to the most up-to-date data.

**What do you dislike about Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay)?**

Like any tool, MarketPay does take some time to get used to, but the amount of information available can be overwhelming. Some of the HRIS data load templates are overly complex (when they only have a few "required" fields), and some of the standard reports feel redundant (and over-engineered in some cases).

**What problems is Payscale Ascent (formerly Marketpay) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MarketPay allows for a consistent pricing approach by housing all salary survey information and maintaining each job's market pricing. It allows for well-informed market analysis, and we can clearly communicate our market pricing strategy to HR partners, leaders, and frontline employees. The database also makes it easy to "experiment" with pricing in dynamic markets.
