Extremely Frustrating Cancellation Process – Beware Before Signing Up **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2025 **What do you like best about MarketMan?** Not much - overall I liked the ability to review all scanned invoices in one area **What do you dislike about MarketMan?** MarketMan is a fairly easy-to-use SAAS product and getting started was simple enough. We used it for several years, despite the fact that it was never integrated with our POS system — which made it clunky and inefficient compared to competitors. We finally made the switch to a much better, integrated platform. That’s when the real headache started. Trying to cancel MarketMan was like jumping through flaming hoops. They pulled the classic move of referencing “contract terms” and a required 60-day notice — which I tried to provide. Instead of simply processing the cancellation, they responded with calendar invites and offers to “jump on a call” to show me what the software could do. After years of being a paying customer, this was insulting and incredibly tone-deaf. I made it crystal clear: just cancel my account. Charge me for the 60 days if you must. I don’t care — just cancel. Instead, they dragged things out with useless back-and-forth emails, hoops to jump through, and more pointless invitations to talk about features I’ve already used and decided weren’t worth it. It's the kind of dark-pattern nonsense that gives SAAS companies a bad name. You are not incurring costs to support me during the "notice period" — you’re just trying to trap customers into paying longer than they want to. I shouldn’t have to email a dozen people or waste time scheduling calls just to stop paying for a product I no longer want to use. MarketMan, maybe take a look at the new “click-to-cancel” law that was passed — it exists because of tactics like yours. If you want software that works with your systems and a company that treats its customers with respect — especially when they want to leave — I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. MarketMan is not that company. **What problems is MarketMan solving and how is that benefiting you?** It isn't solving any issue - if integrated with your POS system it may help analyze some trends, costing, pricing etc. ### 2. This is my first time to use the service, this is the most important reason I would like to try because I feel safe. My POS system can't integrate with Marketman. It's simple, I don't want to change my POS, so I ask them kindly to just cancel my service on May 2023. But, they stopped me from canceling service many times. Just for a $280 monthly fee. Marketman service is the only one software that stops me from canceling and keeps charging me for a whole year! **What problems is MarketMan solving and how is that benefiting you?** MarketMan does the restaurant inventory management. But be careful, You sign as a 12 month agreement which they would not tell you. ### 3. Being able to see how much COGS and actual profit each dish was making over a period of time. **What do you dislike about MarketMan?** Invoice scanning did not work 50% of the time and support would take days to respond. Glitches with sqaure and in the recipe builder resulted in wrong pricing data. **What problems is MarketMan solving and how is that benefiting you?** inventory and cost of goods sold data. ### 4. It's the best inventory solution for Commissary kitchens with multiple retail locations that we've been able to find. COGs tracking is excellent and the inventory reports it provides give you fantastic insight into where possible waste/theft/over portioning is happening in your stores. The software is straightforward to use, and if you're even a little bit tech savvy you shouldn't have too much trouble picking it up. **What do you dislike about MarketMan?** The biggest issue with Marketman is the support. They're slow to respond to urgent requests, and the system frequently breaks (about once a week). It takes about 3-7 days in our experience to get a fix to the system breaking glitch. Incredibly frustrating when you're trying to rely on it for your daily operations. Small things- The website claims "real-time" inventory data... but they only auto-sync the sales once a day. So if you're imagining software that alerts you when you're running low on an item during a shift so you can respond appropriately, you're out of luck. It won't let you know until the next day when it's usually pretty irrelevant. You can manually sync the sales to get "real-time" data but the sync isn't responsive and can take a couple of hours so it certainly doesn't feel "real-time". Having humans enter your scanned receipts is an alright idea, but it often feels like you get none of the benefits of having a computer do it and all of the downsides of having humans do it. Update: Support continues to be the worst I've experienced. I would have loved to update this review with something more positive, but we continue to experience system-breaking glitches, and support is sluggish and incompetent in their response. **What problems is MarketMan solving and how is that benefiting you?** COGs tracking is wonderful.
