"One of the Best for Geographers"

What do you like best?

The ease of use is the best feature. I'm an Access Security IT guy and one of our Geographers was out sick. I was tasked with producing some maps and graphs. I found the new GUI was more adoptable than the traditional interface of the previous version 7.

What do you dislike?

I don't like that you can't copy and paste a person's email to confirm. You have to actually type it in manually. Oh...the horror.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you want a Map viewer that supports different import and export formats, this is it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

A couple of the Geographers told me that the reason Management upgraded instead of going to another product was because you can produce multiple maps/graphs without needing another product.

"The go-to for Thematic Mapping"

What do you like best?

MapViewer is simple to use. You can create maps within minutes thanks to its easy-to-use interface.

MV offers tools that help create professional thematic maps and allows user to take complete control over their spatial data. This was extremely helpful for my team.

What do you dislike?

After extensive review we decided to go with MapViewer and we weren't disappointed. To be honest, I cannot think of a single feature that I didn't like.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

There are a number geospatial data suppliers out there so make sure to do your homework before selecting one. Prior to going with MV we looked at 5 of their competitors. Ultimately, we felt that MV gave us what we needed more than the others. The free trial was what really pushed us to them as their trial was outstanding.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

This was more of a "nice-to-have" for our company. But, we were able to create relevant maps based on human and scientific elements. This provided our group with a new look at our demographic and environment.

Benefits we've realized: Ability to have boundary management, powerful data, business intelligence that all work wwith an OSNative.

What GIS solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Helpful"

What do you like best?

I like how accurate the product is when guessing and searching email address. Using Zoom Info, it's a little easier to use but the accuracy is not there as far as getting the correct information. Sales Navigator is extremely accurate.

What do you dislike?

I don't love that you have to manually type in the person's email to confirm it is correct. While Zoom Info was down, I strictly used Sales Navigator to find out whether the persons information was correct. Like I mentioned before, it's extremely accurate but very time consuming.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With MapViewer you can download maps from online web mapping-services (WMS)

and you can add and modify map-titles, scale bar, legend, inlet-maps etc. One of my personal highlights are the drawing-features: You can easily add arrows, rectangles and so: No need to use an extra drawing-program like its necessary with many other mapping-software.

Mapviewer supports a lot of different import and export-formats, e.g. Shapefile to name just the most common industry-standard. On my personal wishlist are SQLite and POSTGIS, which currently are not supported. Of course you can export production-quality-maps in various formats.

You can also digitize and edit new features with Mapviewer e.g. create new polygons, line, points , break apart polygons and lines, union polygons etc. There are various projections and datums available. Mapviewer also offers GIS-functionality: you can create buffers and query boundaries even on different layers that meet specific criteria.

"Expensive but worth it"

What do you like best?

A lot of powerful new tools to businesses in making informed decisions, managing territories, and providing a whole new kind of CRM.

Create relevant maps based on any number of determiners, of both human elements, or of a scientific nature.

Distributed data and online data management allow you to bring in external information.

What do you dislike?

MapViewer is not cheap and the university/student plans being not much cheaper.

Available only on Windows

Support claims to be free, but actually isn’t.

Interface is just ok.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

This is a very powerful geographical tool, and its potential extends well beyond the sciences and administrative fields. This sort of technology promises a whole new level of marketing, route management, graphing, and analysis. However, it’s too expensive for all but larger businesses, and its Windows-only design may be problematic in the long run.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Whole new level of marketing, route management, graphing, and analysis.

"map viewer for statistical data"

What do you like best?

It is a program to edit and elaborate maps with different layers that represent something outstanding like symbols, density, points, graphics, lines, bars, etc. Undoubtedly has a fantastic potential in the professional field for companies that need graphic representation of data on maps.

What do you dislike?

It is somewhat difficult to manage, since you have to familiarize yourself with the menus the first time and you need to use data to visualize them in GIS.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

You can show the GIS data on a map to attach to the memory or attachments of a project, it is not as powerful as QGIS but it can be easier to manage.

"Great spatial models"

What do you like best?

This software has been a great way for me to make spatial and schematic maps for my research data for not only clinical journals and posters but also for pharmaceuticals. The maps are detailed and the software is not difficult to use. There are many customization tools for the type of data you're looking to represent.

What do you dislike?

There are a few ways to get lost in the software especially when first using it, more training models on the site would be helpful

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Great for spatial models, would highly recommend to represent demographic data

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Analyzing data in a spatial format for research conclusions drawn.

"MapViewer is Paving the Way"

What do you like best?

MapViewer is intense. It has colors, various tools to gauge and plant data, polylines and polygons, charts and bars. It's traditional but it's also a step above.

What do you dislike?

I don't like that the price is steep. It's revolutionary and cutting-edge, sure, but at nearly $500 it's an investment you have to be willing to take. If you're deeply involved in research and analyzing numbers, this is a great product otherwise.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It's $500 but the support network and quality you're getting is well worth it if you're heavy into data and gauging numbers.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We're solving issues surrounding keeping data interactive and engaging. It used to be table and bar charts, but now using MapViewer it's involved and using colors/numbers/shapes, etc.

"Using Mapviewer"

What do you like best?

Utilizing MapViewer’s geoprocessing tools is helpful in making decisions re: spatial data. You can highlight areas of interest, narrow down sections to perform further analysis, and apply mathematical calculations on the raw data to discover new insights.

What do you dislike?

A little costly at $459 per user. But nothing much more than that, if you need to view work on a map, it's a great piece of technology.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

You can create maps within minutes, thanks to the intuitive and easy-to-use interface of the software.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

For me personally, it helps in creating maps that are useful to my wife and I as we try and determine best areas to purchase a new home and live.

"A product you can rely on"

What do you like best?

Mapviewer is one of those programs that changes very little. In some ways this can be a good thing. From both endpoints users can rely on a congruent experience.

What do you dislike?

On that same token however, mapviewer wouldn’t be considered innovative. It fails to wow but still gets the job done.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The public is able to see images from our data and archived images while remaining user friendly and worthwhile to the government.
