**Reviewed by:** Adnan A. | SME Optimization, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2020

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

A very powerful plotting and map tool that is a favorite for every Telecommunications engineer. I have been using this tool since 2007 and never has this tool disappointed me. A very fast processing tool that has the functionality to plot, process, display different maps with colorful thematic options to display the maps and sites in different formats

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

One thing I dislike about this tool is its inability to process all types of data. There are few formats that it cannot process. Another thing of worry is the price that it comes with. My organization has purchased this software so that is fine but if I want to purchase it myself, it costs a lot so if the price can be brought down, that would be great.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits are numerous. As I said before, it provides the functionality of processing, plotting sites on the map and with its thematic functionality, I can differentiate different types of data/sites. It can process large amounts of data at a very good speed without causing delays in my work

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2020

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

As a 20 yr user of MapInfo, the ability to work on a map in the layout is huge. Can't stress enough how important that is and how much time it saves.

I'm also very happy with having a base map layer available, though I would like to see a features layer, like cities, with no other map data available as well. Be easy to put on top of other data

Built in geocoding and Drivetime regions are very nice features to have.

Transluency is very helpful as is the label options. Have always been a fan of being able to use expressions in the labeling as well.

The thematic functionality is very useful and combined with

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

I dislike the need to define the width and depth of frames. I preferred the old way when you could define the x2 and y2 positions

Not sure what all the fuss is about having your mini tool tips above or below the ribbon

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My company has not fully exploited location analysis, so just showing them maps is a big deal

I've used the product to demonstrate gravity modeling when showing clients how their competitors' locations affects their customers.

  ### 11. We rely on Mapinfo Pro!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew J. | Strategist, Hospital & Health Care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2019

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

Our department relies heavily on the use of data-driven maps to complete our core business. MapInfo Pro has helped us to do this for years and constantly updates their software to meet our ever-increasing needs.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

There is little to dislike about MapInfo Pro; there are occasional glitches but the helpful support staff are always there to help us navigate and solve those issues.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

Take advantage of training opportunities to truly familiarize yourself with the software. I have a coworker who self-taught, and then years later, decided to attend formal training. Her level of knowledge skyrocketed immediately and it proved extremely helpful not only in ability to use the software, but to use it more efficiently and quickly.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We complete strategic plans to demonstrate market share among other things, and use maps to convey those messages to our internal clients.

  ### 12. MapInfo Pro-Excellent Mapping Program

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Public Safety | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2019

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

I have used MapInfo Pro for several years, and I love how easy it is to use. Navigating it is a breeze, and the layout is very user friendly.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

One feature that I do dislike is that there is no dialogue box for confirming to save a workspace. The button for save workspace is right next to the open table button, and I often hit it instead. There is no "are you sure you want to save the workspace?" it just saves it without any warning. It can get aggravating sometimes especially when you have the workspace set up just like you want. I also think that their tech support is lacking.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use MapInfo Pro to maintain addresses, roads, ESN's, etc. for a 911 center, and I realize that the ease of using this program for that makes it a great benefit for our agency.

MapInfo is simple to use, yet offers a lot of possibilities. It is precisely what I need in the Telecom Industry

I have discovered a lot of workarounds after a training so there is not a lot I dislike. The Layout feature is the one I use the least because it still is a mystery to me how I can zoom an position my map.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

It's great when you know it's limitation. It does not have the price tag of ESRI Arc GIS for example

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MapiInfo is used in my life as a documentation tool for Telecom Networks both existing and planned. I am able to get the right excerpts of a map to draw on. Ever since I introduced MI to our company we have gained a significant amount of time for creating Network plans.

MapInfo Pro could be improved by providing more modern color palette for raster data, this would save time when creating cartographic products from raster data sets.

I am currently using MapInfo Pro to develop air pollution exposure surfaces in urban areas, I enjoy the spatial interpolation capabilities that come standard with MapInfo Pro.

MapBasic window was one of the best things in MapInfo - it was directly responsible for my breakthrough into a world of programming. Also, I like the speed of spatial operations.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

Since we are still on pre-16 and 64bit versions it really sucks that we can't use UTF8 and mixed Latin/Cyrillic letters.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

Easy, Fast and not expensive!

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Better organization of our water and sewage infrastrucuture. As a country where public and government companies still have "business methods" from the communist/medieval/XX century, MapInfo brings us into an XXI century.

It is very intuitive and even for new users, it is easy to start using this software.
Also you can import, export data from / to most common formats.
You feel familiar with his interface.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

Not about MapInfo Pro directly, but about handling MapInfo licenses: for the administrator of MapInfo licenses it would be much easier to manage and handle if LSU were able to edit / delete licenses (i.e. if an HDD crashes or someone forgets to transfer the license before replacing a computer)

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

It’s a real professional GIS software which will allow you to quickly benefit of power of spatial data

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2019

MapInfo Pro has been slow to integrate native GeoJSON support. Integrating that would make some tasks much easier.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MapInfo Pro has allowed me to do all of my analytical tasks. From building large address databases by combining and querying multiple layers, to solving BI and routing tasks.

  ### 21. Great & trustworthy program

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua S. | GIS Technician II, Telecommunications, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2019

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

I have been using MapInfo for years now and have enjoyed the easy to navigate program. I rarely have issues with it crashing and it handles all the functions of my job duties easily. I also still learn something new about it often in ways to improve and quicken my work.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

In the past I have had a hard time making maps with MapInfo due to its layout feature being rather dated. This is something that you have been working on improving and I will revisit it to soon to see if I can use this instead of other software that I use currently for making maps.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

none that I can think of at the moment.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am often given excel sheets with addresses and have managers who want it analyzed or visualized. Geocoding and being able to export this to KML or CAD drawings has been a great help for people in my organization.

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2019

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

Especially the raster capabilities which are powerful with the MRR format.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

The lack of SQL functionalities and the unfriendly SQL interface.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows me to process large quantities of raster data and get out insight very fast.

  ### 23. Very useful in my daily tasks

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maged E. | RF Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2019

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

simplicity and ability to do so much in the tool and export to other tools. Telecom planning. MapInfo allows me to import many different layers to make decisions on planning network and future plans in the network which are very important. Not only that, but I am able to export the file in many other platforms if needed.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

Bing maps keeps disappearing which causes me to have to redownload it and that takes time. Also when exporting a few layers, I would have to do one by one in order to make it work in google earth, and this process takes a long time if I have multiple layers that I need to export into other tools.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

Highly recommended for almost any use in telecomm companies

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Telecom planning. MapInfo allows me to import many different layers to make decisions on planning network and future plans in the network which are very important. Not only that, but I am able to export the file in many other platforms if needed.

  ### 24. A reliable GIS with strong handling, analysis and presentation functions.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2019

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

What I like best about MapInfo has always been the simplicity of the application and relative stability. At the moment the new interface that arrived with version 16 is top of my list. This encompasses a range of improved features such as tabs unique to content, easier to access functionality via the tabs and linking between maps and layouts, better layout control.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

Two things come to mind. First is suggestion - provide shortcut keys to switch between selection tools and navigation tools. For example, the ability to quickly switch between the select cursor and pan in/out and zoom. This will speed up workflow. The other thing I dislike is that, compared to some other products there is a lack of analysis tools. For example, spatial statistical analysis and modelling.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

Consider the detailed requirements for spatial modelling and data presentation, and consider against licence cost of other products. Mapinfo is good value for money.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Business problems include providing information on where services are located, the characteristics of target populations by region, presentation of location information using maps, creation of spatial data and linking of administrative datasets using location attributes.

This product can resolve problems in marketing, retail, insurance, oil and gas, finance, public transportation, environment, natural resources and Business Intelligence.

It is highly accessible to non GIS Expert. The Pitney Bowes Development Team have been really aggressive the past years to improve the product to compete against the other vendors in their segment.

  ### 26. Be pro with MapInfo Pro

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aishwarya S. | Waste Water network modeller , Civil Engineering, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2018

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

It is good to work as the interface is user friendly and it can be integrated with infoworks ICM so that it helps a lot when we are running out of infoworks icm license. The best is the user friendly interface of the MicroDrainage and its ability to integrate with the CAD software's helping the designers to design with their own standards. one of the best is the automatically size drainage networks as well as designing of the stormwater and foul water systems graphically. It is the best software which i like the most.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

There is nothing in the software to be dislike but if it takes time to load big files but we can wait resolve it. its not big issue. The software is good one.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The easy import of CAD and GIS data which will reduce the time of the project. When we are in short of Infoworks ICM license we can use the MicroDrainage to understand how much volume of water is required for a pond with this much incoming water from a particular return period rain and apply that volume and level to our solutions instead of waiting for the license. The friendly user interface which will even help the beginners to work with an ease without feeling this is something new. MapInfo is the best software.

  ### 27. One stop solution for spatial analysis and mapping

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prabhanjan A. | Engineer, Civil Engineering, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2018

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

I like MapInfo's unique format of saving all vector type data in a single file, which comes handy while working on typical water resource projects.
The raster analysis capabilities within the Vertical Mapper is very powerful and quite useful for projects involving flood mapping.
Also, I liked the Universal Translator which quickly converts the data into required format.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

As an user of legacy MapInfo versions, it takes a while in the new ribbon based GUI to find the required tool/option. Suggest to add a "Search" button which would save a lot of time.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

It's a very good tool for anyone working on water resource projects.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been using MapInfo in flood risk assessment studies for creating model files, analyzing the results and to create maps.
Using MapInfo, it has saved lot of time and budget in the projects as it is quick for editing files and is able to handle big files of multiple formats.

  ### 28. Attention hydraulic modellers be pro with MapInfo !

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** VISHNU K. | Graduate Engineer Water, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2018

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

The best I like about is its integration with the Infoworks ICM which helps us to optimize the need of costly Infoworks ICM licenses, the tools which are really useful for example The Universal Translator. The adaptability of MapInfo towards the mbx files which can help us to run our own tool is great.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

The worst thing is the undo button. you can only go back just one step back. another thing which I felt is that while copying a table only the data in the order is copied but the fields of that won’t be copied so it’s difficult when you have a large number of fields to play with.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

MapInfo is having one of the good interface which can be understood by a person who has a basic knowledge of GIS such adaptability of MapInfo such that it can be utilized perfectly from a starter to a pro is what make MapInfo superior from others. Yes if you are looking for a good GIS software then there is no need to think twice MapInfo is what you required dear fellows!!! .

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Basic problem we were facing was the less license issue for the Infoworks ICM which got sorted out by MapInfo as its integration with the ICM is perfect. so we were able save time and utilize more time rather than waiting. Thanks MapInfo for such a good interface adaptability towards Infoworks.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sampad B. | Executive, Telecommunications, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2018

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

I liked the tools available with mapinfo pro and the layer control toolbar. Sql select is a very good option. Conversion tool is also very useful. I can view the total layer information in one window. Map cad is also very useful tools.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

Layout are too slow to work. Need improvement as too slow to work when multiple layer is open. Bing map quality is not good. High resolution map required. There is no option to set the view of layer depending on zoom. This is going to be useful for multiple layer. There is no 3d feature available. taking printout is not user friendly. The

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

Best software for GIS in a box. Mapinfo pro is a software where you don't need any server. All data can be processed locally. Map Cad tool can used to draw precise vector. Sql select is a very good tool to query your data in a simple term. There are many inbuilt tool to work like converting data from one format to another format.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Processing of geocoded data is now easier and faster. Earlier we use to work on excel and process the data individually. Now coordinate can be processed once in a shot. We use mapinfo to calculate nearest distance. Use it to get point data within a circle. We calculate rout distance of one area in one shot, earlier we used to log the distance one by one and then calculate the total.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jim C. | GIS Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2019

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

MapInfo has always been the easiest to use GIS software, but the latest 64bit version makes it ever easier. Many time saving features have been built in.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

No batch printing built in or add on available for the 64bit version, so we have to continue using v15 for our staking sheet batch printing.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We modernized telecom staking, going from hand drawn sheets to gps staking. I wrote 5 1/2 thousand lines of MapBasic code to automate a lot of the importing, styling and labeling of the features we use at different stages of the processing.

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2019

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

I love having the ability to easily adjust spatial data and create custom maps. The ability to truly brand a map has been invaluable. Also, the capability of automating a repetitive process has been very helpful.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

It can sometimes take a while for the program to open and in some cases, if doing a large spatial query it can get hung up.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

Certainly try it out and compare to other products to see if it covers your needs. Test the capabilities of the layout features to see what you can create.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maintaining a database of spatial objects that represent contractual boundaries, creating custom, branded maps for the organization. The benefits are the ability to jump right back into a workspace to make changes without having to start from scratch.

  ### 33. Excellent GIS, simple to use

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

Thematics - really easy to set up and to change settings

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

The new ribbon menu takes a while to get the hang of, as there seem to be too many icons to begin with. But using the "search" box usually solves this problem

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Proximity of mineral anomalies to known geological features. Picking up geochemical anomalies.

  ### 34. Go Pro with MapInfo Pro

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Suhani C. | Graduate Hydraulic Modeller, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2018

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

It is very handy and user friendly. We can visualise TIN and DTM in a better way in MapInfo. We can easily digitize, modify the vector layers in MapInfo. Rasters can be visualized in a very good way here. It is better in many ways like copying the data from one layer to other layer. We can also simply change the classes of raster data for our ease. It is easy and can be learnt very quickly.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

I feel like, the newer version is bit slow. The earlier versions were faster but 15.2 is slower than others. All other features are good to go. Rasters can be visualized in a very good way here. It is better in many ways like copying the data from one layer to other layer. We can also simply change the classes of raster data for our ease. It is easy and can be learnt very quickly.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

Mapinfo is very easy and handy software.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using MapInfo for my projects mainly including Flood Replacement Areas, Coastal risk management and river flood modelling. MapInfo gives a better platform to edit and view gis layers.Rasters can be visualized in a very good way here. It is better in many ways like copying the data from one layer to other layer. We can also simply change the classes of raster data for our ease. It is easy and can be learnt very quickly.

  ### 35. MapInfo - GIS tool for UK water business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Indresh N. | Senior Engineer, Civil Engineering, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2018

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

Ease of mapping, datastore for all asset data and excellent symbology options to create the best maps. I have been using MapInfo instead of ArcGIS and is very easy to create flooding maps for UK water company. The excellent user interface has made MapInfo most used mapping. This offers wide range of tools and templates creating option which makes work easier. The transportable files and size is much lesser than other GIS tools.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

handling of heavy files (files more than 1GB) is not possible and crashes few times. Recent changes in pro version of categorizing the tools into sub sections makes it difficult to get started in the beginning. The standard layout of MapInfo should have been retained.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

Create Flood mapping, survey plans, Handling asset data and creating inventory. The best tool for all UK water business needs, can create excellent maps for flooding, growth needs, catchment representation etc. have also used MapInfo for training purposes. This helped me to teach graduates and also senior engineers who were reluctant to use MapInof when compared to ArcGIS. This is definitely the best alternative for expensive GIS softwares. MapInfo is undoubtedly the best GIS software to use for all mapping needs and this is why is widely used by all UK Water companies.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flood mapping, survey plans, Handling asset data and creating inventory. Data analyis of huge data is made easy and helps to resolve the duplicate data removal. Wide range of attributes and compuattions can be done

  ### 36. MapInfo - GIS needs of UK Water

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Keerthana S. | Engineer- Water, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2018

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

The interface is user friendly. Tools are easily accessible
The symbols are well defined which are globally recognized.
When the map has been created clarity is very good in all zoom level. Geo-coding is good.
Universal translater helps in converting the different file type to mapinfo tabs and vise versa which is one of the best part as we can convert any file we recive to tab files and work on MapInfo.
Creating point from CSV helps in visulising the data what we have. Editing the data is easy. Help file in MapInfo helps to understand all the tolls uses which are in MapInfo. Stepwise description is provide in help tool.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

When creating workspace the mapinfo gets slow or hanged and then crashes because of which we lose all the data that has not been saved. When too many tables are opened the mapinfo become bit slow.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

MapInfo is user friendly compared to QGIS and ARC GIS. All the work that a Arc GIs can do can be done in MapInfo to some extend the Auto CAD work can also be replaced by using MapInfo for simple plans like Location plan or any 1D plans that can be created using it.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working for Manhole and Ancilaary survey plans, Solution plans and extracting GIS data from clients database. Creating some manhole from X Y coordinate data which are in CSV format. Some calculation using the SQL queries. Creating thematic plans as and when required to represent some data.

  ### 37. GIS made easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sphurti S. | Graduate Engineer Modelling, Civil Engineering, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2018

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

As a Hydraulic modeller, use of mapinfo pro is on regular basis....
SQL helps alot to sort things according to requirements
The minor details for layer on map is really helpful to categorise using our specified range with use of our own colour choice
Drawing layout has many features which are really helpful to give specified map drawing according to requirement of client

  ### 38. If you're into hydraulic modelling, this is your GIS software.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaditya P. | Hydraulic Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2018

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

Mapinfo has many features which help me in creating the best GIS data for my updates to hydraulic model. Most of the times, I use the spatial and Table tools for majority of my work. In Spatial, mostly erase, disaggregate, combine, polyline to polygon, buffer for various tasks throughout the project lifecycle. Also we create Layout plans for survey scoping (flow survey, manhole survey) and using raster data we create accurate maps. Many tools are also present which make life better and you can also create your own tool because of mapbasic integration. Overall satisfied with project.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

Since the new Mapinfo layout, the Table sorting has slowed down a bit. Can make an improvement there. Also, when zooming in and out, sometimes if you're in middle of editing or drawing new objects, it visually creates some problems, but gets sorted after you zoom in and out. So thats one. Overall I would say they have made pretty good with new update. So cheers for that.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

Ease of use, customisation of ribbon/toolbar, strong SQL and MApbasic for Automation.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Updating GIS files from using data from each other, like populaton updates, trade updates, sewer analysis, survey scoping etc. Most useful when we want interlayer data extraction. Also buffer is useful in many situations like whenever I have to rule out set of assets from survey for say being near watercourse or railway tracks, that is very useful there. Also if you use Mapinfo with some of the tools (eg. Stylist), you can easily manipulate data however way you want.

  ### 39. Maps are good too

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth H. | Surveyor, Health and Safety Advisor, Construction, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2018

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

This package is very good and can create tables from data, data from tables, reports, maps with all kinds of data on them - however I just use it for quite simple maps. It finds addresses in a flash from text or postcode and I can populate the map with our specific data and produce block plans and location plans for information reports easily.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

There's a quirk when in the layout tab the placing a shape in the map, I struggle to get out of the shape command.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The clean lines to the OS maps show the property lines are of great benefit when creating a location map for the insurers or solicitors.

  ### 40. I produce thematic maps for OMP-GIS using MapInfo Pro for decision making in the plantations.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anthony L. | Assistant GIS Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2018

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

I like its UI which is more like MS office. Easy to manoeuvre around.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

Not that I think of any. I pretty much like my experience with the software. However I still have a lot to learn and uncover with the MapInfo Pro.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

Like any other software, the upgrades to mapinfo today will help you accomplish most likely any GIS related task that uncovers the impossibilities and gives you end result you deserve. MapInfo has built-ins as well. for example our OMP-GIS uses MapInfo as the primary host. It's fantastic I would say. Even more interesting its user interface has been transformed and is more or less similar to Ms Office.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Here's a few issues we had to address with the product [Pest & Diseases, Crop Yield & Production, Soil and Leaf Samples, (Nutrient Deficiency), rainfall, LULC and even the Terrain Analysis].

The company benefited through the Company Certified RSPO audit program done annually because we have evidence to prove we are complying with their P&C in the OMP GIS Database. The host (Mapinfo Pro) has been a Decision support tool for managers and agronomists in the industry.

  ### 41. Mapinfo Pro 12.5.5(64-bit)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2019

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

I like the fact that you can make multiple layouts from one single map and every Layout becomes a map.
I like that you can make changes in individual Layouts without changing the source map window.

There has been tremendous development in the MapInfo pro compared to last couple of years.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

64 bit is a different experience. It does crashes when too many maps and layout are created.
I would love to have more Spatial Analysis tools which do not come with basic version.

Street level geocoding should be in the basic package.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All kinds of mapping, spatial querries,

  ### 42. Fantastic Mapping Program

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2019

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

The ease of use is wonderful. I learned mapping with ESRI products, and I can say that MapInfo Pro is much more user friendly and easier to use. The universal translator that is built in is an impressive tool for translating the native MapInfo .tab files to pretty much any other format that is needed.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

The lack of customization for symbols is something that could definitely be improved on. Also, being able to undo more that once would be very helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

The technical support for MapInfo is lacking. If you have a question or issue, you are better off trying to google the question or use their online forums.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were needing a user friendly mapping software for addressing and basic mapping purposes, and MapInfo Pro has met and exceeded those needs.

A long time market leading GIS tool that for some time just did not evolved - just got back on the thrown. Ease of use and powerful for Map creation, advanced spatial anslysis and now also with raster data.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

That the product sort of been falling behind competition for some years. But since about two versions it is back

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All sort of spatial and geographical challenges where the map becomes the mean of understanding. Everything from site planning to optimizing resources and transports.

  ### 45. Great visualizations and easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2019

**What do you like best about MapInfo Pro?**

The best part of using MapInfo, compared to other mapping platforms, is its easy to use interface and availability of tools that make mapping workflows simpler and faster.

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

I wish there would be an option to export to an interactive map format (ex: export to Leaflet) and it would also be nice to be able to export to Adobe Illustrator.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We always have plenty of mapping requests coming in, and thankfully MapInfo allows us to work quickly and still produce high-quality outputs.

  ### 46. Mapinfo Pro My Choice

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

User interface can be make more presentable. As earlier i was using 15.0 and now 15.2, i can see a lot of changes in that. I am sure the next version would be more user friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

It is very simple to understand. i guess every company should switch to mapinfo Pro

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i am currently working on Northumbrian Water Group UK, in which i have to extract the info from the background layer, which can be solved by setting up the target. i have been using this from last 1.5 years. i have used many extended tools too, to deliver the projects.

I like the processing speed increases, the upgrades to the layout designer, and the ability to edit a map from within the layout window

**What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro?**

still not a huge fan of the ribbon interface. I feel like finding commands I want is still not intuitive, even with customizing my menus and shortcuts, I feel like I have to click more to do some simple tasks

**Recommendations to others considering MapInfo Pro:**

Ease of use, great looking maps, very functional.

**What problems is MapInfo Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

solving location questions using heat maps that I create. I use MapInfo for dozens of different tasks for people in many branches of my company. I have realized that if you can map it, you can solve it.
