The table and the mapper format are quite unique for the user to edit/use/read data rightly and locate the assets also on the mapper. Its a user friendly software which any user can easily get adapted to the right usage of the software. I think my favorite part of MapInfo is the ability ease of use. It doesn't have all the extra bells and whistles which is a good thing. Easy to navigate and keep your map files organized. Also, they have really good tech support and actually seem to listen to my complaints and ideas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about MapInfo Pro? The new version can be a little confusing and the is always asking you to save workspaces which can cause problems. Also the tool bar is really small which might be a big deal if you don't have very good eye sight. Can be really expensive if you need the most up to date data. You may have more resources and more options with ArcGIS but this program has always allowed me to get the project done with relative ease. And every time i have ran into trouble their support have always solved my issues.I would also add that you don't need to update your streets all the time. Its user interface is self explanatory and easy to use and is very helpful for the spatial gis anaylsis that can taken to other softwares for further analysis. It is quite a bit slow to load the data and it gets hanged sometimes with heavy files which is quite problematic (Mostly while loading the city Vector Maps) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. I like the fact that it is fairly straight forward and user friendly. Not a lot of extra add-ons or tools that can sometimes just get in your way. Also great customer service. Historic property description uses city/village, date, size and neighbours. Using Mapinfo allows to construct a 3- dimensional space/time database with access and querability in many different ways as well as using the map e.q. thematic maps to support this. There is a relatively large learning curve and mental hurdle to use a GIS for one-off projects and research, specifically in the humanities field where I operate. the Viewer, frree an easier to use does not provide enough tools. My research deals with data on roughly 30.000 parcels over a 500 year period, without a GIS, the reconstruction, as well as the visualization of the data and results would be nearly impossible. Various scientific publications were the result. Showing results that without a GIS would be impossible is driving new research, potentially also using that tool. MapBasic is extremely powerful and being able to automate it is one the main reasons my team utilise it. Having the ability to display background maps is great feature. It eliminates the need to load multiple layers to display the same view plus it offers the satellite view. Really enjoy using MapInfo for all functions of GIS. From querying, spatial analysis through to making maps, the user experience is excellent. I have also had to contact Pitney Bowes support about various functions and they have always been happy to help and provide ideas on how to overcome issues while using the product. Don't get me wrong, you can use third party tools to add this functionality however I would really appreciate this functionality within MapInfo itself as both are highly used and requested features.
