After a fresh install, Windows Updates can be deployed to endpoints and those endpoints automatically patched and restarted as many times as needed. I also like the increase in third party applications it can patch over my existent solution... and the reporting is basic but adequate for my needs. I also like the cloud based option. I really like that ManageEngine put on a demo for me and answered my primary questions... all of which helped me quickly get up to speed to have a successful experience starting at month 1. **What do you dislike about ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus?** Now that I've used it for three weekends, I don't really dislike anything now. I initially did have difficulty transitioning from my server-push product where I could control precise timing of update pushes to this agent based approach where I now define windows in which patching will take place. But once I thought through this and altered some pre-patching backup jobs to accommodate the larger patching windows... life is good. **What problems is ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am replacing an aged, seldom updated and unsupported product that has begun to more or less self-destruct. I chose this product as it is use by the parent company that bought us recently... and I figure if it works well for their larger environment, it should work for me. From setup, to maintenance, and through implementation, Patch Manager has KBs, how-tos, and in-depth support article for almost any error that they have. If the documentation doesn't have the answer, the support staff has been very responsive. **What do you dislike about ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus?** There is a broader issue with waiting for patches to deploy, and it can be hard to decipher 'Ready to Execute' error codes, and this seems to be the issue that users have the most, as there is a ton of documentation and troubleshooting that you can do on these issues. **What problems is ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus solving and how is that benefiting you?** We're just testing it out now, so we really haven't had any issues. It works with both Windows and MacOS, they had support for Catalina in about a month, and notified me the moment support was rolled out. Updates work for a multitude of applications from Java, Adobe Air, Teamviewer, to common applications like Chrome, Firefox or OS updates on both Mac and Windows. Their support is great and extremely responsive. **What do you dislike about ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus?** UI is very quirky to navigate and takes getting used to. The uninstall of the agent on Macs when their installed as a remote agent requires running an uninstall script. We also have a need for software that works just as well on Windows as it does on Mac and vice versa. Prior to using the software, I would visit my clients on-site a few times a year and find the systems I touched to be way out of date. This tool has allowed me to eliminate out of date systems. The contextual help is decent, but could be improved. Capably of working with a LAN, WAN, remote offices, segmenting them with different policies, allowing precise control over patching. The pie charts/graphs on the home screen and elsewhere give a simple, visual view of the status of all computers. The ability to brand the product. Overall a really superb patching product. **What do you dislike about ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus?** Altough it is not a complex product to setup, it takes a bit of getting used to. However the nature of the patch process, and anything new, makes this comment a difficult one. The menu layout needs a rework. It is all there, but could be more integrated. There is an ability to deploy patches immediately, though we found the definition of immediate to be wide - anything between 10 minutes to 2 hours. Get over the menu structure, and it does it job well. Looking at the obvious choices from Google, was a real let down. Yes, they patched Windows, but were poor with their support for a wide range of third party support. Then by chance we came across Patch Manager Plus by ManageEngine. For a similar price to the more well known products, it provided hundreds of third patches. It is great to have all Windows, Office and third parth products patched by the same product, with one single status. It is very competiviely priced, compared to the inferior products. Can be purchased monthly, or annualy - suited to every budget. It can be installed on premises or using their cloud. Supports Windows, Mac and Linus patching. There is even a free version of small companies with less than 25 computers. You can get pretty granular with it, both at the server and the patch level. While it can be a bit overwhelming at first, once it gets going, the GUI is friendly, and the built-in graphs and charts are a nice way to keep yourself informed during your patch cycles. **What do you dislike about ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus?** It is not always clear that patches error out. There is a ‘Failed’ stage, where it shows very clearly what the issue is. However, there is a ‘Not Applicable’ state that is not very clear as to why a patch may be N/A. I had an issue where one of my servers did not receive any patches at all, and rather than receiving a ‘Failed’ status, it was listed as N/A. Without closely inspecting the server, I would not have been able to tell this was an issue. It would be nice to have some more detail there to help with troubleshooting. **Recommendations to others considering ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus:** It is a decent SCCM replacement/alternative. We are still in the early stages, but before patch manager, we had 3 or 4 guys working during our maintenance windows to apply the patches to our 300+ servers.
