What I like best about ManageEngine ADAudit Plus is the ability to quickly pull many different types of reports and easily find the information we need when conducting investigations. It makes it much easier to review user activity, track changes, and identify important details without having to spend unnecessary time searching through logs manually. One area I would like to see improved in ManageEngine ADAudit Plus is the reporting around Microsoft 365/O365. While the tool is very useful for Active Directory auditing and investigations, the available O365 reports feel more limited compared to what is available for on-premise AD. The ease of initial setup and the reports that can be generated from it are what drove me to want to use it initially. It has so many features that can be used and the setup can be very complex if you really want to dive in, but the nice thing is that it can be done over time. The initial setup to get it reporting and allowing you to make changes from it are very easy and quick. I have had very few issues with it and when I did have to reach out to support, they were very helpful. Quick to respond and answered all my questions. Honestly, I really like ManageEngine ADAudit Plus because it takes all those massive, impossible-to-read server logs and actually makes sense of them. It constantly keeps an eye on Active Directory, so if someone starts failing a bunch of logins, deleting a ton of files, or messing with admin privileges, I get an email or text alert right away. It also saves a massive amount of headaches when audit time rolls around, since it has hundreds of built-in reports ready to go for compliance stuff like HIPAA or GDPR. Basically, it gives me one simple dashboard to see exactly who is doing what, meaning I don't have to waste time writing manual scripts just to figure out what's going on in our network. For starters, because it catches everything, you really have to spend some time fine-tuning the alerts, otherwise your inbox will get absolutely flooded with routine notifications and false alarms. It’s also a bit of a storage hog; holding onto all those detailed logs means the database can grow huge pretty quickly, so you definitely need to keep an eye on your server space. The dashboard gets the job done, but the interface can feel a little clunky and dated compared to some of the newer, sleeker tools out there. Lastly, as your network grows and you need to monitor more servers, the licensing costs can start to add up, but once you have it all dialed in, those trade-offs are usually pretty manageable. After using ADAudit Plus for a couple of years now, the thing that keeps standing out is how thorough the audit reports are for Active Directory. When something happens — a group policy change, an account lockout, privilege escalation — I can pull a report and actually understand the full picture without having to chase down logs manually. The reports are detailed enough to satisfy auditors but still readable enough that I can hand them to a manager who doesn't live in the weeds with me. That balance is harder to find than you'd think. The pricing and licensing structure has always felt more complicated than it needs to be. It's not always obvious what's included in your tier versus what requires an upgrade, and that can make budget conversations with management a bit awkward. Support is hit or miss too — sometimes you get a fast, helpful response, other times it drags on longer than you'd like for something that feels straightforward. One other thing I'd love to see improved is the scheduled report setup. Creating or updating scheduled reports isn't as intuitive as the rest of the product, and it's one of those things that takes more clicks and trial-and-error than it should for a tool you rely on regularly. Now I can get to the root of an issue in a fraction of the time. Whether it's a suspicious login, an unexpected account change, or something that tripped an alert, the trail is right there without having to piece it together by hand. The biggest benefit honestly just comes down to time. Investigations that used to eat up an afternoon now take maybe 20-30 minutes. ManageEngine has recently merged their Log360 and EventLog Analyzer products into one "SIEM" platform. This is a much more streamlined way to utilize these products. There are so many things I like about ManageEngine ADAudit Plus that picking one could be a little difficult. However, the overall ease of use of the product is one of my favorite things about it. Installation wasn't hard. Upgrading isn't hard. The automation basically makes the product hands-off, and lets you focus your time on day-to-day tasks, all while knowing that ADAudit has your back and is keeping an extra set of eyes on your Active Directory environment. What do you dislike about ManageEngine ADAudit Plus? I can't really say I dislike anything about ADAudit Plus. It's lightweight, it does what it needs to do and does so quite well. If anything, the product can be a little intimidating, due to the number of things it can keep watch over can be overwhelming for admins that are a little younger in their careers, but if you do your research and know what you'd like it to report on, it becomes less intimidating. As with many smaller companies, the IT department is a little understaffed, and everyone wears multiple hats. As such, a product like ADAudit Plus is helpful in that, once it's been set up, can report things to the admin team via scheduled emails, which means that you're reading a set of reports in the morning as you start your day, which takes the look out of manually checking your Active Directory logs. It also can notify you about potential account exploitation, which is nice. When we come in, we already know who tried to log in outside of their normal hours, who was unable to log on (and why), and who changed their password, created AD accounts, etc. It's very useful and presents the data in pleasing reports that have just the right amount of data, and a line count so you can see if the report is empty and not waste time on it. Overall, it's granted us better visibility into our AD environment, and you don't have to spend time logging in, unless you need to drill down deeper. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
