Malwarebytes used to be the go-to, now it seems to be borderline bloatware **Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2021 **What do you like best about Malwarebytes for Teams?** You can scan for viruses with a simple-to-use interface. Also, Malwarebytes has fewer annoying pop-ups than McAfee (but still some, but you can control them). Malwarebytes had a good history, making me willing to try it. **What do you dislike about Malwarebytes for Teams?** Now Malwarebytes wants to be your browser extension, your VPN; it has fingers in everything. After downloading Malwarebytes, my system performance tanked. It got so bad that Malwarebytes was the only thing running, and nothing else could run. My computer just froze. I ended up having to reformat my laptop, which was working perfectly fine before this! My computer slowed and eventually crashed, which coincided with switching from McAfee to Malwarebytes. I have Malwarebytes premium running on another, older laptop, which works OK, but still, much much more of a CPU hog than it used to be, which is so disappointing. Even my husband and uncle, who used to do Malwarebytes as default, were pretty upset that the latest version was so heavy on the computer. **What problems is Malwarebytes for Teams solving and how is that benefiting you?** Usually, I think no antivirus software is best, but I have a work computer, which has data that is valuable if lost or if unretrievable. That would be a massive headache. I do backups, but getting a virus and crashing a computer is a headache. Unfortunately, Malwarebytes caused this exact headache, and I was without a computer for a week. But typically, an antivirus working in the background and taking out any excess additions that websites add on or accidentally click things would be ideally beneficial. But it is only beneficial when it does not affect your existing performance. ### 2. Pretty good for finding malware, but it has a serious problem **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Don G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2020 **What do you like best about Malwarebytes for Teams?** It's been pretty good at checking for malware, but it likes to flag non-malware and quarantine it. **What do you dislike about Malwarebytes for Teams?** The minor issue is that it tends to flag too much non-malware as malware. I'm an independent software developer, and it often flags programs that I've written as malware, when they most definitely are not. The major issue is that when it decides a reboot is necessary, it flashes up a notification and immediately reboots. This means that I've lost a lot of work since I'm not given a chance to save what I'm working on. Even worse, I use VirtualBox to do the development, so when MalwareBytes removes, it occasionally trashes the VM that I was using. This has cost me nearly a week of lost time in the past when I not only had to restore the VM and recreate the lost source code. I've complained to their support about this, but was never answered. I'm definitely not going to renew unless they fix this issue. **What problems is Malwarebytes for Teams solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use it to try to catch any malware.
