Those two metrics alone give me a tangible number to grasp onto to be able to gauge the quality of the backlink profile of our site. A lot of times the tool will tell you you have bad links but it has no idea at the fact that you dissavowed them so you have to be conscious about the fact that this is not true just for your site but for all sites it monitors. In other words the numbers across the board are impacted and I have to cross check against our list every time I do a site cleanup. Everyone said Majestic was the gold standard in terms of backlink tracking, and I'd agree that the robust-ness of their data certainly fits that description. Their Trust Flow is really the only domain-level metric I care about besides just overall SEO visibility. It seems like, with all the great data that Majestic has, there is so much more I'd be able to do with it. For example, they have this concept of a Topical Trust Flow that gives domains a score in a certain subject area. I'd love to use this to find the best domains to target in a certain vertical, but you can't search domains by topic. Or, exploring the long list of backlinks/linking domains on majestic.com isn't really doable for a large profile—you have to download them and explore in Excel. Reporting on their metrics is similar—they only recently added a view of Trust Flow trending over time (which is great, because I was recording the scores in a spreadsheet for awhile), but that view isn't very dynamic or slice/dicable. Lastly, they have a Historic Index that doesn't have data from recent crawls and a Fresh Index that only has data from recent crawls. Majestic.com has been a premiere link building service for me for the last couple of years. I have used it to look into key link metrics when analyzing my own links as well as client links. The "trust flow" and "citation flow" are famous in the link building world and majestic coined these terms. Majestic really provides me with great insights to the type of link research I need. The one main thing I don't like about Majestic is that the update doesnt come in that frequently. I will be building some links for a month or so, and they dont start to populate into majestic's database for weeks afterwards. So its hard to engage more instant gratification when doing link building and research.

The API can be very confusing as there are lots of different calls that sometimes overlap, so it can be difficult to figure out the number of calls required for your needs. The best feature of Majestic is the Trust Factor (TF) and Citation Factor (CF) numbers - as of right now, they are the MOST accurate SEO numbers in the industry. Back in the day, it used to be Moz's DA PA, but they have stopped updating it and most of the time it gives of erroneous numbers that mislead.

I also LOVE their Chrome plugin which allows me to quickly see the TF CF of any site I am currently on. Bravo! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have only 2 issues with Majestic, one small and one larger:

1. (small) It's not exactly a pretty or well-designed site. Pretty archaic in its appearance - unlike its competition.

2. (large) While Majestic's blog is pretty excellent, they fail to provide adequate, easily found PDFs or training to help new people understand what TF and CF is, and other functions that are useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

You could almost use Majestic for everything as it helps you to monitor a website's online presence. Search engines rely heavily on links still, so it's essential to know what's working and what's not, being able to compare your website with others, discover new linking opportunities, and fix problems.
