**What do you like best about Magento Open Source?**

Create Product catalogs with prices and images when required.
Easily integration with third party Tool, Plugin to optimize websites.
Non technical person can not handle the development part.
We got an advance payment option to accept on product sale.
Develop a Secure Ecommerce Store to sell products online.
Optimize website and update plugin for required template.

**What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?**

We face some issues only when updating the version of Magento 1 to Magento 2. So when I need to update a version on a regular interval, a major problem is faced in business websites. Maintenance cost is higher in comparison to other development tools.

**Recommendations to others considering Magento Open Source:**

Choose the best tool to develop a business website with proper security. It has advanced options to update website content and page name. Easily customize website template according to use of business services.

**What problems is Magento Open Source solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our digital marketing agency, we provide professional services to client businesses. Our first motive is to satisfy our clients with our work. We need to create an eCommerce portal and other large websites for our clients so we choose a secure platform Magento to develop a business website. It is not easy in comparison to WordPress and other tools. Need to write proper coding for each website. After developing a website, the client can easily update page names, blog posts and SEO meta Tags. It is also helpful to optimize websites according to SEO Algorithms.

  ### 9. Best Open Source ecommerce platform for businesses

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Magento Open Source?**

One of the best and most helpful things with Magento is the fact that it is available as an open-source. This makes it very much easy to create our very own eCommerce store online

**What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?**

Honestly, I do not have any major dislike with Magento Open Source. It has enabled me to create our own eCommerce store and also integrating this with other software like a PIM is also super easy

**What problems is Magento Open Source solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The major business advantage for us with Magento Open Source is that it supports multiple stores. Also, integrating this with other 3rd party software is also pretty straightforward and easy

  ### 10. A very robust but clunky e-commerce system.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert E. | Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Magento Open Source?**

Magento is a very robust system with almost everything you need right out of the box. In newer versions of magento it does add a random string to the end of the admin url which makes brute force attacks to get into the admin panel more difficult if not impossible.

**What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?**

While it is robust, it is almost too robust. The system runs extremely slowly, even on our high-performance webserver. Another big issue was with the database. Product information is stored across 50-100 tables which makes querying for a product very slow. The only way around this is to merge your products into a "flat" table that does not bring all the information under one table. Instead of 50-100 tables, you're looking at 25-50 tables.

**Recommendations to others considering Magento Open Source:**

Use a different system such as Woocommerce or Shopify

**What problems is Magento Open Source solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To be completely honest we did not solve any problems while using Magento. It created more problems for us.

  ### 11. Flexible open source e-commerce solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ANSAR H. | Software Engineer 1, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Magento Open Source?**

There are a number of reasons why I like Magento -
1. Quick and easy setup: The setup and installation are so easy as compared to some other eCommerce platforms.
2. SEO Friendly: Magento is up to date with the latest ranking factors.
3. 3rd party integrations: This gives more customization options to Magento. It allows every store to be highly customizable.
4. Faster page loading time: Magento’s platform makes the page load times down, even when there is a massive influx of load.
5. Elastic search: Magento provides an integrated elastic search feature that makes it very easy for large product catalogs to be set up and handled optimally.
6. Powerful and scalable: It can support up to 500,000 products on one single website, and it can handle more than 80,000 orders per hour
7. Security Permissions: One can keep the website safe and manage internal access with options to customize multiple levels of security permissions.

**What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?**

On one side there are a lot of features, but it comes with some limitations as well. Some of the limitations are -
1. Limitations for store owners to make changes as the full access is with the developers by Magento.
2. One more problem is its high pricing for the enterprise edition.
3. Although it provides lesser page load time by default, but, in case it is on shared hosting, it is possible that it results in slow speed and causes a frustrating customer experience.

**Recommendations to others considering Magento Open Source:**

I'll recommend this product to any startups who want to make a quick start. Some of the important features I'll discuss are -
1. Minimal response time shopping experience
2. Easy one-click account creation.
3. Multiple secured payment gateways.

**What problems is Magento Open Source solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is super easy to start a small and medium-sized enterprise with the help of this Open Source platform. No need to worry about coding from scratch. Some of the benefits are -
1. Integrated Elastic search, which is highly useful and reduces the time for its implementation.
2. Enriched media content makes the product useful.
3. Quick checkout of products is really time-saving for end users.

Within the Magento community there are bast resources to get material to help you build.

**What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?**

Given the complexity of its features, it gets challenging to implement and maintain. Updating pricing lists and products master lists required long amount of time. It's easy to get lost inside its bast features. Magento's configuration panel is not intuitive at all.

**Recommendations to others considering Magento Open Source:**

Consider working with an experienced Magento partner to administrate and maintain it updated.
If you are looking for an E-commerce engine with standard features, consider a more accessible tool like Shopify.

**What problems is Magento Open Source solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We set up multi-currency multi-language e-commerce. The project was thorny and required sophisticated features, like dynamic pricing and dynamic shipping costs. Magento was able to provide extra functionalities where traditional, more basic e-commerce sites fell short.
It counts with the advantage of providing a wide range of feature to build an advance e-commerce sight from scratch. However, this double-side sword eventually gets burdensome to administrate.

  ### 31. The most powerful CMS for online stores

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabiano R. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Magento Open Source?**

The caching system is very good. It is possible to have tens of thousands of products with incredible performance.

**What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?**

The discount system. Magento works based on discounts for the same product and not with products, for example, in the same category. It would be ideal for discounts like buy 2 get 3.

**Recommendations to others considering Magento Open Source:**

If you are a programmer and understand a bit about web servers, I recommend that you try and test all the potential that Magento offers.

**What problems is Magento Open Source solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Development of a cosmetics store with more than 5000 products with incredible performance.

  ### 32. Best ecommerce platform you will ever see.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sharjil K. | Magento 2 Front-end Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Magento Open Source?**

I like Magento because it is based on PHP, and it has its JavaScript architecture, which includes knockout JS, requireJS, jQuery, and a lot more. I like the way we can create modules to extend or give new functionality to Magento. I also like the Magento training section where Magento has provided courses in frontend development, backend development and for merchandizers as well as solution specialists. I like the Magento's one page checkout which is a single page application built on knockout javascript library and it is also not very difficult to work on it's customization. Magento has a very big community of users so it is also very good in terms of pull request review and ask for any coding help and support.

**What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?**

There are only a few small things that I don't like, but that's not a big deal, so I wouldn't mention it here because those are something you can easily ignore without any issue. I also don't like some of the courses which Magento provide because of their complexity and difficulty to understand what it is trying to explain.

**Recommendations to others considering Magento Open Source:**

If you are looking to have the complete power of customizing an online store, then you have come to the right place. Magento is very flexible, reliable in terms of extensive development.

**What problems is Magento Open Source solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The primary benefit is to have unlimited power of extending the e-commerce store functionality. I am solving most of the common issue of e-commerce merchants who faces in order management. Using Magento's order management, our client has found very easy way to manage their orders.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Devang G. | .NET Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Magento Open Source?**

I would suggest using Magento when we are planning to develop e-commerce apps. Magento open source is free to use and also supports various options for libraries which makes development easy. The competitors for Magento are open-cart and woo commerce, but I would rather suggest Magento when you are intended to develop small size apps.

**What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?**

I faced a very bad experience with Magento. In the past, I have developed one application in Magento, there was a cache issue and due to that I was not able to see my updated code over there.

**What problems is Magento Open Source solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Magento to develop an E-commerce application.

Pagebuilder was built-in and intuitive. It also had functionality to create custom blocks and templates to minimize repeatedly entering code.

**What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?**

Setup was not as straight-forward and required setup of external libraries like elasticsearch, containerization.

**What problems is Magento Open Source solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I tried solving integrating a product list while also doing mirroring an already existing regional site for this client.

  ### 36. Open source for your e-commerce needs

  ### 38. A robust framework for e-commerce, but a serious commitment

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Magento Open Source?**

Magento is robust enough to handle almost any, "what-if" you can think of without becoming hacky like other after-thought e-commerce competitors.

**What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?**

Magento is very heavy. You have to invest in a better hosting provider if you want to run a Magento shop. This makes Magento a good choice for medium and larger businesses but a non-contender for start-ups. Under the hood, Magento isn't the most developer-friendly with its odd choice of XML over JSON for some file configuration.

**What problems is Magento Open Source solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I worked with a team of developers who utilized Magento to run a shop with thousands of products. It managed these products with ease. Magento excels when you throw large data sets at it.

**Reviewed by:** Ritwik J. | Co-Founder and CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Magento Open Source?**

I'm a new user of Magento open source and the best part about Magento is that it allows user to create the entire website without much effort. With Magento, I can create the entire store just in less than an hour. It also has a wide range of elements that can be used to set up the store. Also, the community support of Magento is very good as there are a lot of members who are veryhelpful in case of any problem that is faced by user. Because of the responsive community the issues can be resolved very quickly.

**What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?**

It's not very much easy for a non-tech person to build a website using Magento. For a user to build a website he/she must have some sort of technical knowledge related to PHP and Apache. This knowledge is required to do the setup of Magento. Also the websites build in Magento are not very good when in comes to SEO.

**Recommendations to others considering Magento Open Source:**

Focus on SEO as the websites and stores created by Magento are not so good at SEO.

**What problems is Magento Open Source solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using it to set up my new e-commerce store and it's easy for me to do it using Magento as I have been a PHP developer in past and I have a good knowledge of Apache as well. It provides a lot of features that are helpful for store creation. And it's very easy for me to setup a complete store with all the integrations. The best part that I like about it is that it's open source and I like open source very much.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelly S. | Marketing Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Magento Open Source?**

Magento has a robust community of apps, plugins, etc. -- that is Magento's strength. There's something for EVERY need in the Marketplace. It's been around for a while, so there's plenty of technical resources out there that are well-versed in it. As one of the most widely used platforms, it's easy to find strategists with experience in it, as well. If you've got access to good technical resources, it's got a LOT of possibilities.

**What do you dislike about Magento Open Source?**

It seems like every site I've ever been on with Magento is outdated, and not everyone loves the updates. I've known of people who intentionally stuck to Magento 1 because they didn't love the features in 2. The catch to all the great plug-ins and apps is that you NEED to use them. I don't find a lot of warm fuzzies in the out-of-the-box capabilities. You really do need to have access to good dev resources, and multiple types of strategists, to get the most out of it. For that reason, I don't recommend it for small companies that have no in-house team and don't plan to bring in outside help.

**What problems is Magento Open Source solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're able to build really quality enhancements that continue to drive improvements. Speed, conversion, sales, etc. have all continued to get better as we've continued to invest in new features, clean up technical debt, etc.
