"The Ecommerce Website Leader, Complex, but highly capable if you know the system well."

What do you like best?

The ability to make fast changes to products and content make it a great tool, and with this latest version, it is much easier to use for those transitioning from another system like WordPress or Drupal.

What do you dislike?

It can be cumbersome and slow if not optimized in caching and proper image optimization. Spacing between elements in Bluefoot needs to give better default options. Having to resort to negative pixel adjustment with padding seems counterintuitive.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Hire your own in-house programmers for Theming and customizations. Using an outside agency to manage your back-end can be extremely expensive and much slower to fix pressing issues.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Bluefoot has been by far the best UX addition to Magento. It's made WYSIWYG a reality while allowing legacy code to be added in very easily. Novice users can now update content without needing a lot of training.

"Magento is simply the best ecommerce platform on the market. No cookie cutter here."

What do you like best?

The customization if critical for today's online businesses. With even more competition from Amazon, you need to be able to compete in a content driven search world. Cookie cutters like Shopify and BigCommerce are not driving the conversions for small businesses. You need to set yourself apart from the pack and Magento helps you do that.

What do you dislike?

Magento needs to have a omni-channel solution, so more things can be done under one hood, and not so piecemealed out. To have a listing solution for marketplaces and then to integrate with SAGE Accounting would be the ideal solution for me. The other drawback for me is PRICE! They are getting too expensive for a small business, which is really sad, as they were built with the sweat of a small business, but we are being priced out of the solution. So Sad!

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you are looking for a solution that gives you more than a picture and 3 lines of content, and you want to compete in the search world, then go with Magento. There is no reason to lock yourself up with a cookie cutter solution.

Brought customization into an easy to use solution. We have very custom functions and Magento was able to do all that for us. The big problem now is the PRICE! Stop pricing out the small businesses that really need you.

"Great platform but very outdated."

What do you like best?

I have been using Magento for over ten years so I know how to use it very well. Magento is great for smaller e-commerce companies that do not have 10,20,30,000+ products.

What do you dislike?

Magento is not very "user-friendly" and by that I mean it is difficult to learn how to use and even more difficult to use it's features effectively. For example, adding to many attribute values to a single attribute can cause your website to slow down to the point that it will barely work. Additionally, the only way to effectively manage your products is through the Desktop Store Manager. Unfortunately, Magento does not offer this software for Mac and that is what my company mainly uses.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Magento is an outdated platform. You are much better off just using Shopify or a similar e-commerce platform.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The only real benefit to using Magento anymore is that I have used it for so long that I know it inside and out.

"Has many strong features that are useful for our business"

What do you like best?

Magento offers the broadest set of feature configurability of any mid-market eCommerce engine. We undertook an exhaustive research project including a live pilot of 7 other vendors. The Cloud (PaaS) offering was strong and removed the entire hosting and environments layer from our project, which was great for speed of adoption in a Greenfields deployment. Very mature concept of scope allows you to execute your multi-website, multi-language goals against a common product catalogue with ease.

What do you dislike?

Sales and marketing materials regularly and casually overstates the actual features often identifying features they are still working on. The dedicated onboarding specialist didn't really help us all that much.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Every eCommerce project knows to define budget for information architecture, solution architecture, wireframing, mockups, templates, payments and configuration. You should do this too. In addition to your budget for the above, there are a lot of rough edges that you'll need to resolve on your own dime that constitute unknown unknowns. Because Magento Commerce is literally open source software with a very shiny sales and marketing veneer over the top, you'll need to set aside a certain budget for a specialist Magento Agency to get you over the line.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Magento has allowed us to create much more in depth tracking of customers and hierarchies associated with different stores. This is something our previous ERP simply could not do. The customization capabilities are a double-edged sword. It provides tremendous flexibility, but also requires you to spend the time to plan it all out.

"Magento Commerce review"

What do you like best?

I love that its easy to use and that it is flexible. I'm able to add rules and conditions to be met by our clients very easily and i can add edit or delete or rather disable anything i don't need at the moment and enable it when i need it.

What do you dislike?

An error message is always popping up I've been trying to solve it but i'm still not able to get rid of it but with time i know it will be solved

Magento is easy to use and very affordable. You can add to as many extensions as you want based on what you want the extension to do.

"Magento 2 - a better fit for mixed B2B/B2C eComm businesses"

What do you like best?

The new platform features a much-improved feature set for the business which serves both distributors and end user purchasers, with tiered pricing rules that are easier to implement, as well as other significant portal functionality which helps make it simpler to create curated experiences.

What do you dislike?

There is still a high developer barrier to integration on some aspects of the program, so customization of your site can carry a significant cost in terms of both initial deployment and ongoing maintenance.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We utilize it for our eComm space and have seen much improved performance with M2 from a structural perspective compared to our M1 site, especially in the ease of integration for Varnish and FPC, as well as the inclusion of BlueFoot CMS management to create landing pages without dev involvement.

"Magento review"

What do you like best?

its easy to navigate through and use ,even for a first time user there will be no need of one having to do training separate but can be done onside .

its intergration with payment platforms for check outs is efficient and effective .so far no user complains.

-its helps cut cost interms of adding an extra software for invoicing since one can customise the invoice on Magento tgo suit their needs .

-It gives a comparatively better analysis of the company's position interms of sales convesion verses the orders palced

What do you dislike?

while using it keeps on bringing the words : `Something went wrong" ,this at times becomes annoying since it happens so often.

it doesnt give a good analystic comparison interms of fast moving goods and those that are slow .

to all the new e-commerce business start ups' i would recommed Magento use before moving to subscription based platforms

today the magento platform is one of the most used in the following virtual stores, being one of the top 5 virtual stores, for its capacity of use in large and small projects of online stores, a perfect SEO area, integration possibilities and development of api excellent connections, layout customizations, inventory and product control, as well as customers and sales

"Magento Is Great If Pick A Template And Are Technically Inclined"

What do you like best?

It's easy to setup a complete working online store if you have some technical ability and if you use a temple right from the start. The documentation is organized in a structured way that's easy to find the topic you are looking for.

What do you dislike?

Magento has a of technical errors and is very high -maintenance. For example, if you add a lot of products into your online store, you have to reindex it. Most of the other modern shopping cart technologies don't usually have this need, and often allow you to load an unlimited amount of products ,without ever slowing anything down, or ever needing "reindexing".

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Magento 1 seemed to have more support and a better following then Magento 2 in the Freelance community. Some Magento 2 stores seem to have greater technical challenges with less solutions that are even more difficult to resolve then Magento 1. These comments are based on the free versions of both Magento 1 and Magento 2.

Bricks and mortar locations with internet expansion have limited potential. Magento enables online purchasing and makes it quick and easy, especially if you have some technical experience.

"The best in online stores"

What do you like best?

we loved magento works with him already for more than 2 years, we have more than 3 stores working with magento and this is great, for its speed, possibility of integrations, SEO part, and customizations everything is neither possible, create or change and this was essential for our company.

What do you dislike?

currently we had some problems only in the update from version 1.9.4 to version 2.0 due to some modules that were not compatible in the end everything worked well

"Great Program, Knowledge Required"

What do you like best?

There are a lot of built in functions, and it makes it easy to update and configure our store and products. Category management is greatly recommended, it is super simple to add new categories, subcategories, and manage the products in each.

What do you dislike?

This is not the most user friendly software I have used for our e-commerce platform. We moved over to Magento because it was more feature rich than the programs we were using, but it is highly recommended that whoever is working your platform has knowledge of these programs to begin with. A newcomer to the e-commerce platforms would have trouble working with this straight out of the box.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Easy to use for people who have experience working with e-commerce platforms. Feature rich. Simple and easy invoicing and payments.

It has made everything easier to manage product and categories across the board. Invoicing customers and processing orders is simple, and the built in merchant processing makes it easy to receive payment.

"Great experience with Magento"

What do you like best?

Is a very stable platform that gives a complete tool for running a web shop. Very well the VAT setup that works perfectly in all the combination. Incredible numbers of extensions available make you able to put in real any idea jump in your mind.

What do you dislike?

Not very happy with the layout of back-end, especially if you want to work using tablet. Installing new extensions and basic configuration may require experts support.

What do you like best?

Adobe magneto has a free version available for its users. It has efficient marketing tools and site management features. It is optimized for all operating systems, mobile devices and tablets. It also provides newsletter management. It also helps manage a large traffic and numerous sales.

The free version has limited features and the online buying prices are very hefty. The themes and designs are not offered by the website itself and may require third party interference.

"Magento is alright for starters"

What do you like best?

Magento definitely gets the job done, no doubt about that. There's a lot of in-depth details, you can even manage your newsletter subscribers from there and do a lot through various extensions.

What do you dislike?

Honestly, Magento's inventory system is horrible. Can't express this enough. Our company has done manual inventory to try and override this, and even though we turn Magento's inventory off, it finds a way to turn itself back on and undo all the hard work we've done.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I'd recommend making sure your inventory is correct before you leave the office, especially if you work at a place where you are off on weekends. If your inventory is not correct, you will come in on Monday to a lot of customer issues.

We use magento to take customer orders, which is crucial to our business. Without it, we wouldn't have an e-commerce platform.

"Magento Commerce Powers Our Website"

What do you like best?

Magento Commerce is the engine that runs our ecommerce website. We use it to manage a huge catalog of products, create new products, create and edit our product pages, set up shipping and pricing promotions, etc. Magento Commerce also allows us to create custom extensions to solve for solutions that would otherwise need to be handled by third party software.

What do you dislike?

Magento Commerce can be incredibly overwhelming for a new user. Training new users can be pretty time consuming. Once users get used to it, they are able to train others, but the initial learning curve is pretty steep.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you have a large or growing ecommerce company, Magento Commerce should be strongly considered. Other products may be cheaper, but to manage the complexities of a large company, I cannot recommend Magento Commerce enough.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Magento Commerce runs our website. That is about the biggest business problem we could have. Without Magento, our site would not run as smoothly as it does. We interface with many third party products as well as develop custom solutions for issues within Magento. We are able to manage a huge catalog of products without requiring a huge team to handle it.

"Magento - For Some But Not For All"

What do you like best?

Magento is a super powerful e-commerce platform. Now with the edition of MCC (the Magento Commerce Cloud), the platform is more powerful than ever. I love Magento's modular flexibility. You can do nearly anything with the vast array of Magento extensions if not no worries, it can be customized.

What do you dislike?

Magento is expensive and it is far too robust for a typical small business. This platform requires a full-time administrator and it takes some time to master the admin functionality. It used to require hosting but now the addition has eliminated one of the barriers to entry.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you truly need a robust international, multi-language e-commerce platform with multiple storeviews then Magento Commerce is a fantastic product. Otherwise, there are several other more cost-effective hosted products available that I would explore first.

The two most important features of the Magento Commerce product are the multi-language/multi storeview capability and the super powerful international shipping integrations. These are both keys to success at a high level in e-commerce.

"Magento is amazing for E-Commerce"

What do you like best?

Love that there is so much opportunity to flex with all the options that any client using Magento can do. They have an amazing B2B portal and order management system. One of the best things I think is the ability to create store views so companies can be in different countries and manage all their inventory in one dashboard.

What do you dislike?

Magento Commerce is a bit expensive for a smaller company under 1-2 Million in online sales. There is a bit of a setup time to customize the site for the client. This takes a good development team to do this who should be experienced in Magento.

"User Friendly Alternative to Shopify"

What do you like best?

Offer very similar features as Shopify at cheaper prices and friendly UI. The best thing that Magento offered was user experience. It was the first e-commerce platform that I had ever used and was extremely easy to get everything set up. If you are trying to choose between Shopify and Magento for your first e-commerce platform, I highly recommend trying out Magento, and then if you are comfortable, moving on to shopify (If your business has high inventory). Magento works extremely well with business that have low-middle tier inventory. They inventory management system is not as good as Shopify, but for the price difference, it is well worth it for small businesses and start ups.

What do you dislike?

Some minor bugs when adding products, nothing too major. When linking media to the website, there are also some minor bugs that can be fixed by simply re logging into the admin account. For the most part, this is the most common fix to their bugs, re logging into the admin account.

I strongly suggest using a tutorial when first getting started if you have no background knowledge in these types of softwares. If you are a previous shopify user, you will find that Magenta is quite easy to get used to and is much more user friendly than Shopify.

Cheaper costs and friendly to teach people how to use. Conducted all dropshipping needs for a start up business. Perfect for first timers and people with limited experience with e-commerce platforms.

"Organized Ecommerce"

What do you like best?

I like that this is free open source e-commerce software that i am able to install on my website. It makes selling products on my website easy, without having to spend an arm and a leg on it.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the learning curve that comes with magento, since it is a cms, it is quite hard to manage and set it up alone. I had to get a 3rd party to set it up for me.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you plan on setting this up yourself, I would recommend having patience as it is a headache to get it running smoothly. I would also suggest getting a dedicated server to run your store on, if there are a lot of visitors.
