"Magento is simply the best ecommerce platform on the market. No cookie cutter here."

What do you like best?

The customization if critical for today's online businesses. With even more competition from Amazon, you need to be able to compete in a content driven search world. Cookie cutters like Shopify and BigCommerce are not driving the conversions for small businesses. You need to set yourself apart from the pack and Magento helps you do that.

What do you dislike?

Magento needs to have a omni-channel solution, so more things can be done under one hood, and not so piecemealed out. To have a listing solution for marketplaces and then to integrate with SAGE Accounting would be the ideal solution for me. The other drawback for me is PRICE! They are getting too expensive for a small business, which is really sad, as they were built with the sweat of a small business, but we are being priced out of the solution. So Sad!

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are looking for a solution that gives you more than a picture and 3 lines of content, and you want to compete in the search world, then go with Magento. There is no reason to lock yourself up with a cookie cutter solution.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Brought customization into an easy to use solution. We have very custom functions and Magento was able to do all that for us. The big problem now is the PRICE! Stop pricing out the small businesses that really need you.

"Great platform but very outdated."

What do you like best?

I have been using Magento for over ten years so I know how to use it very well. Magento is great for smaller e-commerce companies that do not have 10,20,30,000+ products.

What do you dislike?

Magento is not very "user-friendly" and by that I mean it is difficult to learn how to use and even more difficult to use it's features effectively. For example, adding to many attribute values to a single attribute can cause your website to slow down to the point that it will barely work. Additionally, the only way to effectively manage your products is through the Desktop Store Manager. Unfortunately, Magento does not offer this software for Mac and that is what my company mainly uses.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Magento is an outdated platform. You are much better off just using Shopify or a similar e-commerce platform.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The only real benefit to using Magento anymore is that I have used it for so long that I know it inside and out.

What E-Commerce Platforms solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Magento Commerce review"

What do you like best?

I love that its easy to use and that it is flexible. I'm able to add rules and conditions to be met by our clients very easily and i can add edit or delete or rather disable anything i don't need at the moment and enable it when i need it.

What do you dislike?

An error message is always popping up I've been trying to solve it but i'm still not able to get rid of it but with time i know it will be solved

Recommendations to others considering the product

Magento is easy to use and very affordable. You can add to as many extensions as you want based on what you want the extension to do.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

i'm using it for our website in e-commerce

"Magento 2 - a better fit for mixed B2B/B2C eComm businesses"

What do you like best?

The new platform features a much-improved feature set for the business which serves both distributors and end user purchasers, with tiered pricing rules that are easier to implement, as well as other significant portal functionality which helps make it simpler to create curated experiences.

What do you dislike?

There is still a high developer barrier to integration on some aspects of the program, so customization of your site can carry a significant cost in terms of both initial deployment and ongoing maintenance.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We utilize it for our eComm space and have seen much improved performance with M2 from a structural perspective compared to our M1 site, especially in the ease of integration for Varnish and FPC, as well as the inclusion of BlueFoot CMS management to create landing pages without dev involvement.

"Great Program, Knowledge Required"

What do you like best?

There are a lot of built in functions, and it makes it easy to update and configure our store and products. Category management is greatly recommended, it is super simple to add new categories, subcategories, and manage the products in each.

What do you dislike?

This is not the most user friendly software I have used for our e-commerce platform. We moved over to Magento because it was more feature rich than the programs we were using, but it is highly recommended that whoever is working your platform has knowledge of these programs to begin with. A newcomer to the e-commerce platforms would have trouble working with this straight out of the box.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Easy to use for people who have experience working with e-commerce platforms. Feature rich. Simple and easy invoicing and payments.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It has made everything easier to manage product and categories across the board. Invoicing customers and processing orders is simple, and the built in merchant processing makes it easy to receive payment.

"Magento Commerce Powers Our Website"

What do you like best?

Magento Commerce is the engine that runs our ecommerce website. We use it to manage a huge catalog of products, create new products, create and edit our product pages, set up shipping and pricing promotions, etc. Magento Commerce also allows us to create custom extensions to solve for solutions that would otherwise need to be handled by third party software.

What do you dislike?

Magento Commerce can be incredibly overwhelming for a new user. Training new users can be pretty time consuming. Once users get used to it, they are able to train others, but the initial learning curve is pretty steep.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you have a large or growing ecommerce company, Magento Commerce should be strongly considered. Other products may be cheaper, but to manage the complexities of a large company, I cannot recommend Magento Commerce enough.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Magento Commerce runs our website. That is about the biggest business problem we could have. Without Magento, our site would not run as smoothly as it does. We interface with many third party products as well as develop custom solutions for issues within Magento. We are able to manage a huge catalog of products without requiring a huge team to handle it.

"Magento - For Some But Not For All"

What do you like best?

Magento is a super powerful e-commerce platform. Now with the edition of MCC (the Magento Commerce Cloud), the platform is more powerful than ever. I love Magento's modular flexibility. You can do nearly anything with the vast array of Magento extensions if not no worries, it can be customized.

What do you dislike?

Magento is expensive and it is far too robust for a typical small business. This platform requires a full-time administrator and it takes some time to master the admin functionality. It used to require hosting but now the addition has eliminated one of the barriers to entry.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you truly need a robust international, multi-language e-commerce platform with multiple storeviews then Magento Commerce is a fantastic product. Otherwise, there are several other more cost-effective hosted products available that I would explore first.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The two most important features of the Magento Commerce product are the multi-language/multi storeview capability and the super powerful international shipping integrations. These are both keys to success at a high level in e-commerce.

"Magento is amazing for E-Commerce"

What do you like best?

Love that there is so much opportunity to flex with all the options that any client using Magento can do. They have an amazing B2B portal and order management system. One of the best things I think is the ability to create store views so companies can be in different countries and manage all their inventory in one dashboard.

What do you dislike?

Magento Commerce is a bit expensive for a smaller company under 1-2 Million in online sales. There is a bit of a setup time to customize the site for the client. This takes a good development team to do this who should be experienced in Magento.

Recommendations to others considering the product

The one-step checkout extension is awesome!

"User Friendly Alternative to Shopify"

What do you like best?

Offer very similar features as Shopify at cheaper prices and friendly UI. The best thing that Magento offered was user experience. It was the first e-commerce platform that I had ever used and was extremely easy to get everything set up. If you are trying to choose between Shopify and Magento for your first e-commerce platform, I highly recommend trying out Magento, and then if you are comfortable, moving on to shopify (If your business has high inventory). Magento works extremely well with business that have low-middle tier inventory. They inventory management system is not as good as Shopify, but for the price difference, it is well worth it for small businesses and start ups.

What do you dislike?

Some minor bugs when adding products, nothing too major. When linking media to the website, there are also some minor bugs that can be fixed by simply re logging into the admin account. For the most part, this is the most common fix to their bugs, re logging into the admin account.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I strongly suggest using a tutorial when first getting started if you have no background knowledge in these types of softwares. If you are a previous shopify user, you will find that Magenta is quite easy to get used to and is much more user friendly than Shopify.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Cheaper costs and friendly to teach people how to use. Conducted all dropshipping needs for a start up business. Perfect for first timers and people with limited experience with e-commerce platforms.

"The King of Customization (and Complication)"

What do you like best?

Flexibility. There is so much that you can do with Magento. As an eCommerce platform this is definitely of the "everything is possible" variety. However, the customization and flexibility comes at a cost.

What do you dislike?

Magento is flexible, but fragile. The open market source nature is fantastic but you lose quite a bit of reliability. When you install an extension it could break your entire site, or maybe just a break another extension. One of the more frustrating is when an all to frequent security patch quietly destroys your ability to do something as simple as upload an image. Also the Out of the Box Reports are sub par at best. Luckily there are extensions that exist to improve this.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Take a look at the Community Edition, weigh your options. Before you commit to using Magento be sure to look at exactly what you need. It is a fantastic platform but if you really only need minor customization I would recommend looking at other platforms. It's almost a guarantee that Magento can do exactly what you need, it just might take quite an effort to get there. This is not of the faint of heart.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Magento is great for large eCommerce focused businesses. I work at an agency and several of our partners use this platform. The problem it solves is providing a platform for eCommerce, while also being open source (hence the flexibility I mentioned earlier.

"REVIEW ON MAGENTO COMMERCE"

What do you like best?

We launched our E-commerce platform and we have been using Magento with no disappointments! Our site hosts about 20-30,000 products which is very ideal. You can also add a number of extensions to Magento to suit your platform.

What do you dislike?

Training our new incoming employees has proven to be a bit time consuming before they get all the handles on how to run an e-commerce platform using Magento.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I would recommend anyone who is about to use Magento for E-commerce to first get familiar with how it works if he is a beginner and from there it will be a very smooth journey. Magento gives very good service.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use Magento to create new products, edit our product pages and even change prices of products that we would like to run on offer using Magento which is very easy and non-complicated.

What do you like best?

The marketing features that come with magento, managing your products and your store.

Ease of uploading products for sellers and seller sign ups, the UI gets better with great extension that come with magento as its open source

What do you dislike?

No much tutorials and guides on how to use magento

errors do pop up alot once you upgrade and the solutions to errors online are not much

Too much errors come up with indexing and caching

Recommendations to others considering the product

add more tutorials, plus offer support to stranded clients

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"A good alternative for online small Business"

What do you like best?

- Magento is user-friendly. A simple back-end with intuitive navigation.

- Community version is free.

- Magento is robust and has flexible features.

- The next-generation PHP7 code architecture allows for true customization.

- The Magento's community provides very usefull features like the ability to manage multiple store fronts, multi-language and multi-currency support and is mobile and search engine friendly.

- Magento own a large community of users who have developed many extensions and plugins.

What do you dislike?

- Magento is available in many versions. The community version of Magento is free, while the enterprise version of Magento is little expensive.

- There is less developper than the others solution, then less plugin, less template, less everything.

- Sometimes, it's difficult to Use.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Magento is a decent online business solution that you may need to scale quickly. You can try the free version and make your advice.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It's a good e-commerce solution, not the best in my opinion.

"Massive ecommerce tool"

What do you like best?

It's ability to customize and add many available extensions is useful. For developers and content writers, it is a breeze. It can become very powerful.

What do you dislike?

It's massively complicated to learn and many times it becomes buggy once you customize too many default options. Stackoverflow has tons of issues that are posted about how many bugs Magento has.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you have a strong development team to help you set up your needs. It runs on PHP so it's very straightforward.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is the solution for your catalog, CMS and shopping cart needs. All of the default features will make sure that it is a good strorefront. However my business has been customizing it to the point that it is hardly recognizable. We are adding forms, digital vouchers and user-generated content.

"Terrible product for projects that require high traffic"

What do you like best?

The backend interface is very clean and easy to use.

What do you dislike?

They severely lack the server capacity to take on high traffic. If your website development relies on heavy traffic releases of product, do not stick with magneto. Shopify is much better for implementation and user interface.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Evaluate if your business is big enough to bring in over 100 people every time a new product launches. If so, consider switching to Shopify as they handle traffic incredibly

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Magneto is a solution for a small business that's looking to get into the e-commerce market looking to build an online presence. If you are an established brand or company there are many other options such as Shopify which would be better suited to handle your online traffic

"Solid Platform but Shopify is Superior"

What do you like best?

Magento is flexible and easy to setup. Their mobile design is very nice and magento stores generally load quite quick. Also, because it allows 3rd party integrations it's favored by a lot of devs for all kinds of marketplaces.

What do you dislike?

My main issue with magento is that under heavy load a magento store with throw all kinds of crazy errors after the back end becomes unstable. I've experienced this developing for a retail store that sold shoes and some of which were exclusive so the rush of traffic rendered the site unusable for hours. I prefer Shopify personally.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Explore all options and find what best suits the needs for your business model. If flexibility and ease of use is a big component then consider going with Magento.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The 3rd party integration allowed me to implement features that solved the small problems within our business. I think the customization aspect is the most beneficial for this platform.

"Incredibly powerful but not easy to set up and manage"

What do you like best?

The functions you can complete in Magento are really powerful. You can build a website, manage all your products & categories, create promotions, store files, send transactional emails and more. Everything you need to run an e-commerce website is available in Magento.

What do you dislike?

It is a difficult product to learn and navigate initially. The WYSIWYG editor is not simple; links will break unless edited directly in the HTML. The file system is incredibly clunky and feels like it is suck in the early 2000's. It is easier to store images elsewhere when possible and reference them when needed. Creating promotions is easy, but there needs to be better organization that's more sophisticated than just sorting.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Get the most updated version and implement on there, as using an earlier version and migrating is a bit of a pain.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We run the entire e-commerce business using Magento, from the website, to product management, to sending transactional emails after purchase (we use a separate email program for our promo emails and campaigns).

"Superb in every way!"

What do you like best?

The extensions seems endless! No matter what feature you want to implement to make your web store run smoother, Magento almost always has an extension. Even the times they haven't, it is open enough to easily program other features into it. It works as a front end order system, page management, discount management, tracks our customers for our newsletter, and the list goes on. Prior to Magento we were slaves to the YahooStore system, and since we made the change, we haven't had to look back once.

What do you dislike?

There may be overkill with some of the included features which makes for a learning curve of figuring out what you really need to use right away. Honestly, it isn't that bad though.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The customization and design of our website has been greatly improved because of the features Magento offers. This results in more product clicks and web traffic. Just what we want in the online retail buisness.

"Magento Commerce features professional ecommerce management for both large and small business"

What do you like best?

Magento Commerce features professional e-commerce management for both large and small business. It's pretty impressive, used by many e-commerce stores. It's fixed with easily integrated payment, checkout and cart management tools. Also included are first-class catalogue management, marketing solutions and an effective SEO function

What do you dislike?

It has some complexity in building stores, unless you have special knowledge of web development

Recommendations to others considering the product

"a Selling Platform Perfect for the Wedding Industry"

What do you like best?

My Favorite part of this software is the ability to bulk discount. I have not found another platform that can do this, even to this very day.

What do you dislike?

The biggest downfall is the ability to custom design the pages, I had to hire someone each time as it was very frustrating to do on my own.

Recommendations to others considering the product

It is the best platform for eCommerce to this very day, however you will need to sink in a little money into the design if you are not a coder, so just be prepared for that.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Being able to include wedding favors or bulk purchases into a platform and allow the payment to go through with the discount included is a huge plus when running an online store.

"Third-party extensions needed to unlock many functionalities"

What do you like best?

Magento EE is a very flexible tool and includes a solid OMS, product catalog management, and a checkout system that works neatly.

What do you dislike?

Reporting in Magento's backend is really weak and not at all customizable within the platform. To do this, or anything else including 3PL integration and other essential items for even a smaller eCommerce operation, you need third-party extensions. These extensions create security and dev review issues that add complexity to the installation with each one you have to add in.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Magento EE is a solid platform for small to medium sized eCommerce operations and has served us well over the years but not without a lot of maintenance. We do not integrate it with in-store operations.

"Best Open Source eCommerce Platform Ever"

What do you like best?

Magento has come a long way since 10 years ago when it competed with Interspire Shopping Cart, Zencart, OpenCart, and the numerous others of platforms that have come and gone. I would say that the best thing I love about Magento is it's community that supports its evolution.

What do you dislike?

It can be bulky if you have a novice running this platform. Especially if you are a high volume product retailer.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you're planning on using Magento as your eCommerce platform, be wary that this is a sophisticated solution that requires proper planning and configuration to get this running smoothly.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Not necessarily business problems, but being able to fully customize every aspect of this system.

"Necessary for large businesses but too complicated to maintain"

What do you like best?

I like having one website that shows all the data I may need to pull- sales reports, changing out the website banners, etc. I also like that it can integrate with various apps like Mailchimp and show which customers are clicking on the email campaigns.

What do you dislike?

It can get really messy the longer and more data is stored. There's some data that get's lost (for example from Mailchimp) and there is a delay in the reporting so we can't get an accurate sum of revenue. Difficult to move platforms.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Having all stock and order information for multiple countries and platforms stored and available in one backend. Being able to pull data that is filtered by country/ etc is extremely helpful.

"Great Ecommerce product"

What do you like best?

The fact that it runs the LAMP framework!

Easy to configure and hook up with external APIs like Payment Bridge, PayPal, Avalara Tax service etc.

The back-end system provides a lot out of the box. You can set up simple SKUs and configurable skus easily.

Magento rolls out security patches very often to address vulnerabilities and this ensures the platform is secure and PCI compliant.

What do you dislike?

The SUPEE security patches are not always fully tested and tend to cause downtimes when they are installed. We have had to write hotfixes to address some of these SUPEE patch downtimes in the past.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Best to work with an external development company that specializes in the front-end development and configuration especially if you do not have seasoned experts on the LAMP framework or Magento.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Extremely powerful, flexible framework...but not without its headscratchers"

What do you like best?

Extensibility of the core modules, and loads of factory-default settings and features that handle the majority of basic grunt work -- e.g. catalog pagers, checkout, user security, etc. Also, support is very good and the community is very strong.

What do you dislike?

The naming conventions can be extremely confusing at times, due in part to its contextual nature which often leads to confusion when referencing message boards or documentation.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Pay close attention to all documentation and fine-print. Magento is extremely powerful, but also very delicate and particular with infrastructure and coding conventions.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Robust back-end that supports high-volume ecommerce, and a flexible front-end that enables us to reinforce a unique brand identity and effective user experience. There are also lots of bells and whistles that come in handy.

"Difficult user experience with high level customization"

What do you like best?

I like the product management and all of the attributes you can add to your products and display. Also, adding simple products to your configurable products is very easy.

What do you dislike?

It requires constant updates that creates issues with the extensions and custom code you have on the site. The user guide is only helpful for the most basic functions and anything that is slightly in-depth cannot be found in it. The platform promises new innovations that come out FAR after the promised date.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I recommend being well versed in all web design and development before using this product and read the the user guide thoroughly.

"Getting better with every release"

What do you like best?

Magento 2 hasn't been around all that long yet, and each successive release is fixing more issues and introducing more functionality, so definitely feel like it's the best long-term platform for a growing e-commerce business. Especially love the multi-store functionality.

What do you dislike?

Support team is adequate but not great, although client relations are solid. Biggest dislike is that the ecosystem they have created is very advantageous to 3rd party integrators, resulting in Magento not willing to handle questions and concerns that may involve 3rd parties applications or even how to execute on some of their functionality. They love to refer those questions to system integrators (at your expense).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Scaling a complex e-commerce business with multiple storefronts and brands.

"A Great Way to Monitor/Edit Your Website"

What do you like best?

I liked that the user interface wasn't too difficult to learn. Once logged in, you can pretty easily find your way around. My job was to keep the product images on the company's website up to date, as well as add and edit product descriptions. This was fairly easy to do and didn't take to long to figure out.

What do you dislike?

The software would sometimes give you error messages when trying to save product details if there was something wrong with the product specs. Never was able to figure out what the problem was and most times would just have to exit without saving. Seems like you should be able to edit a product description without having to edit the product specs. Hopefully this is something they'll fix if they already haven't.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Don't be overwhelmed once inside the menu. Focus on what you actually need to do and learn how to do that. There are tasks that can be done in the software that are simple enough for the most basic user to master. Most the tasks I needed to complete could be learned in a matter of minutes.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

This makes it quick and easy to add and edit products for an e-commerce site. I think it's simple enough that simple tasks, like adding and editing products, can be distributed to others in the office who might not have coding or design knowledge. This would allow updates to be made much quicker than if just one or two are working on it.

"Magento Enterprise"

What do you like best?

Once you get the hang of it, Magento is pretty easy to use.

What do you dislike?

It is very difficult to figure out how to do basic things. It is also difficult to batch upload products. The CSV upload form is very lengthy and takes a long period of time, and still does not upload into the system correctly. The specifications for images and product information are very specific. Magento itself is very basic and you have to individually purchase and set up plug ins in order to have standard services on e-commerce sites such as customer reviews. It is also very difficult to create basic promo codes that are standard for other e-commerce websites, such as buy one get one free.

Recommendations to others considering the product

You will need a strong developer to help you get started and to help install all of the plugins that you will need.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With magento we were able to understand a lot about our customers once we had it set up correctly. It greatly helped our customer service end since it was very easy to access a lot of customer information.

"Great for big companies with an extensive product catalog"

What do you like best?

The platform allows for inventory management and helps users manage customers, perform sales and seize cross-selling opportunities.

Add shipping costs and many details of your clients process.

What do you dislike?

It's a complex tool. It takes a bit of training or a tech-savvy person to take advantage of Magento's full potential right off the bat. The best approach for a newbie is to go little by little and asking questions. The platform offers great support as well.

Recommendations to others considering the product

This is a very powerful tool. If you have customized products or a broad portfolio of products, this is the tool for your company. It is very complex, yet it allows you to take it step by step.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Online and phone sales.

"Very difficult to work with"

What do you like best?

It's what the pros use. It seems very professional once you get going and have a lot of products in your shop. Everything seems very professional and well built and is built for bigger/larger companies to use. The biggest pro about Magento is the features it has to offer. Magento has many features such as variable products, quantity, shipping, and more. That sets it apart from other E-commerce solutions.

What do you dislike?

I know Magento is used by the "big guys" in the eCommerce industry but it's just so hard to set up and get going. It seems lie everything is broken when trying to save settings which results in me having to re-upload and reconfigure the database. Another downside is that Stripe is not built into Magento. Purchasing a 3rd party plugin for Stripe is very costly and should be built into Magento.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am using Magento to sell shirts and tank tops online (clothing) but I realized that there are other solutions out there that are much easier to use. Besides the negative things about Magento, I've realized that scaling with Magento is going to be easy. With other solutions, there will need to be a lot of modifications in the core of the solution but with Magento, it will be seamless.

"Great platform if you have good developers"

What do you like best?

Highly customizable and you can pretty much customize any features for your business need.

What do you dislike?

Magento is a complete resource hog which requires tons of development work. Any version updates and be ready to spend a great amount of development and testing to make sure things are not breaking.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Magento is great for ecommerce business that requires many customization work done. However, it also requires tons of maintenance and development hours to ensure things are working properly. If all you need is a straightforward ecommerce website, there are other cheaper and better alternatives out there.

"A complete platform that can be customized to meet any business' needs. "

What do you like best?

Magento has a vast collection of themes, apps, and community 3rd party extensions that prove to be quite useful. Since it is such a commonly used platform (for obvious reasons) there are great forums and constants always working to bring the best out of each patch update. Long-term support and investment in the platform is obvious, they clearly are not resting on their laurels even with the great versions they've created.

What do you dislike?

Magento can do it all, it's pretty vast. It's almost too vast however and it's easy to get lost in it's depths at times. Support is great but as with many platforms it doesn't come cheap especially since it's so in-demand. When it's setup it can do the lot but it takes a bit to setup. That plus their transition to a new code re-write in a 2.0 version is putting much more work on existing users to move with the innovative upgrades. If you don't move with the upgrades you lose support. If you lose support, you are more vulnerable to getting outdated or hacked.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be prepared to do a lot of setup and learning (if you are a novice). Once it's all functioning it works pretty well and the admin is pretty nice to work with.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Magento is allowing our business to manage multiple e-commerce storefronts and display high quality responsive content for view in an array of platforms.

"High Powered eCommerce"

What do you like best?

Magneto is great right out of the box. It has all of the powerful tools you may need for an eCommerce site. And if it is missing something chances are a solution exists through their extension marketplace.

What do you dislike?

The cost of ownership is pretty high. Some solutions are not do it yourself. Requires outside help which adds onto the cost.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be prepare for a long road to go live. And a high cost. But in the end it's worth it.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"Great for Large E-Commerce Businesses!"

What do you like best?

I like how robust of a system Magento is and they have a great customer support staff. It is fantastic for large organizations.

What do you dislike?

It's interface is still a little clunky. I wish that it had a more easier way to view changes. We have an e-commerce company with over 20,000 products (conservatively) and I have a staging site. If I want to view my changes, it takes a couple extra steps. Also, it isn't ideal for bundling products together in multiple SKUs on one product detail page. We have had to have that feature built in.

Recommendations to others considering the product

To focus more heavily on setting up a feature to bundle multiple products together on one product detail page that will allow operations to take the orders as individual SKUs (since they may be coming from different retailers).

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are able to quickly get products up on our Magento website for some of the largest companies in the world.

"Enterprise level platform"

What do you like best?

Magento Enterprise provide a large set of functionalities for managing large products catalog and structured store management team.

Unlike the CE version, Magento EE provides high performance with materialized views pattern, full page caching and incremental indexation. From the practical point of view it provides a visual merchandising tool and fine-grained admin permission setup, not only by area but also by website.

What do you dislike?

In the other hand Magento requires long time to learn every single feature and code implementation; sometimes trivial bugs remain unfixed also if an issue is submitted by the community, especially on version 1.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Don't be impressed for the annual fee, to reach the same quality with a Magento CE you probably have to spend more.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

When a customer come with us with an already implemented Magento the very first issue to solve is performance, both for visitors and administrators, to solve it you need a great know-how in server clustering, setup up and optimization. It's better if the same person can analyze server infrastructure and code implementation.

"Easy to use, but can be overwhelming"

What do you like best?

I liked the interface of the program - it is very quick to load up for the day, and encounters very few technical issues. It is very useful in going in to change inventory levels and fix issues that arise in programs that rely on Magento.

What do you dislike?

Although it is a positive that so much is customizable on Magento, sometimes it can be confusing or overwhelming at times. This just means that more training is required for someone to feel comfortable using the program to its fullest potential, which is not really a negative.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you take time to fully train in people in using this program, because using it to its fullest potential can offer a lot to your company.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Managing inventory, product descriptions, pricing, quantities, etc.

"Complex E-Commerce Software with a lot of possibilities, but also a lot of work."

What do you like best?

With Magento you can basically customize everything, which is great. It is also one of the most used e-commerce software, so you'll find answers to a lot of questions and problems.

What do you dislike?

If you want to change anything in Magento it is pretty much always a huge load of work. If you start using Magento you will need a full time developer at hand at all times! If you don't have one, do not use Magento!

The setup of Magento is hard, adding a module is difficult, because the built-in connector doesn't work properly.

The voucher system is not very useful. For example if you want to offer a discount on a certain type of product, you can't do that without an extra module.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are currently using Magento for an fashion online shop.

"Customized experience"

What do you like best?

I love how it interfaces with our web design. Product creation is simple once you are familiar with the software. We have a very customized experience for our customers

What do you dislike?

We use URapidFlow add-on on top of our Magento platform and have had a lot of troubles with the add-on staying compatible with all operations after updates are done to the platform. I also dislike the amount of time it takes to sync our databases and see live changes on our website.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Make sure you onboard a good developer and you are also happy with that relationship. We had a difficult time in the beginning because the developer we partnered with did not work out.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are able to offer our customers a tailored shopping experience.

"Bread and Butter E-Commerce Platform"

What do you like best?

The order processing functionality in Magento is very easy and user-friendly. Invoicing, Canceling, and Returning orders is quick and straightforward. I also like the the UserID function within product listings which helps us label products and manage our listings.

What do you dislike?

The merchandising functionality in Magento Commerce leaves much to be desired. Improvements could include - sold outs automatically falling to the bottom of the category while retaining merchandise order on the page, disabled/enabled and quantity information appearing in the tile view of merchandise categories, as well as product export from categories.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Magento is the base of our E-commerce business, allowing us to upload, manage, merchandise, process orders, and sell products.

"Very good platform that is flexible."

What do you like best?

We like that the platform is more open and accessible to customization than others such as Commerce Cloud. Also, there is a better set of tools than the smaller platforms such as Woo Commerce.

What do you dislike?

In the emerging age of cloud solutions, there is no current line of sight to total integration with Adobe. Magento is a bit behind the cloud race given the eBay and now Adobe relationship. I would like to see more on the roadmap for what the integration plans are with Adobe.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Magento solved a multi-storefront problem that allowed us to have several different eComm stores, but unified under one platform. This solved inventory, marketing and process issues we previously had with Woo commerce.

"#1 E-Commerce software"

What do you like best?

Magento, similar to wordpress has a huge marketplace of extensions that allows you to modify and add features to your website without having to code it yourself. Magento also allows you to easily organize hundreds of products.

What do you dislike?

Magento is a lot more expensive to develop on which can be a big deterrent to smaller companies.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Magento has allowed us to create multiple websites, under different brands all under on backend. It allows us to easily manage these without the need of multiple systems.

What do you like best?

What do you dislike?

Recommendations to others considering the product

"Fully open source and customizable"

What do you like best?

Magento is definitely user friendly and easy to pickup on. They have a great "Magento U" where you can take comprehensive courses to learn the ins and outs of the Admin panel. No dev experience neccessary.

What do you dislike?

As it is fully customizable, the downside is needing extension add-ons for features that it would be nice to have built in to the software. However, I understand that this is reflective of my personal e-commerce needs.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We mainly utilize Magento as a platform to provide quotes to customers but love how flexible all of possible options are if we decide to open a wholesale platform. We like being able to contact customers who have abandoned carts via email and exit intent windows.

"Great sales & inventory platform"

What do you like best?

I like Magento because its simple to use yet there are so many different options and extensions. This allows the user to customize it and make it more complex to meet their individual company's needs.

What do you dislike?

I dislike that there are always notifications for irrelevant things when I log in.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Take some time to figure out all the features and addons as they will be very useful once you know all the options available.

"Best in class"

What do you like best?

It's pretty powerful, scalable and very flexible platform. I built a variety of extensions of it and a bunch of websites. You can easily get whatever you need just by adding third-party extensions. Besides that, there are a bunch features out of the box.

What do you dislike?

It can be heavy and complicated at first view. Also, it can be complicated to find developers, but it worth it.

Recommendations to others considering the product

In my personal opinion, it's the best solution in class even along with other languages. I have been working it more than 10 years and I love it. I may look to coomplicated but it's very powerful and can adopt to any business requirements.
