Maestro is an end-to-end testing framework designed to streamline the process of mobile and web UI testing. It addresses common challenges faced by developers and QA teams, such as writing brittle test scripts, debugging flaky tests, and managing slow test suites. With Maestro, users can expect a more efficient and effective approach to testing their applications. This versatile framework supports testing for iOS, Android, and web applications through a unified methodology. Whether your team is developing native applications in Swift or Kotlin, utilizing frameworks like React Native or Flutter, or building web apps, Maestro accommodates all these platforms without the need for multiple testing frameworks or separate test suites. This integration simplifies the testing process, allowing teams to focus on development rather than juggling various tools. One of the standout features of Maestro is its user-friendly design. Unlike many testing frameworks that require extensive setup and technical expertise, Maestro employs a declarative YAML syntax that is intuitive and accessible. Users can create their first test in under five minutes, significantly reducing the time spent on test creation from hours to mere minutes. This ease of use makes it an attractive option for teams with varying levels of technical knowledge. For those who prefer a visual approach, Maestro Studio offers a no-code interface for test creation. This free desktop application enables users to find elements visually, record interactions, and leverage AI assistance in crafting maintainable tests. This feature is particularly beneficial for developers, QA engineers, and non-technical team members, fostering collaboration across diverse skill sets. Maestro Cloud enhances the framework's capabilities by providing enterprise-grade infrastructure for running tests in CI/CD pipelines and across multiple device configurations. Users can execute hundreds of tests in parallel on real iOS and Android devices, drastically reducing total test time by up to 90%. Each test run is accompanied by detailed video playback, comprehensive logs, and flake detection, facilitating quick and effective debugging. Unlike generic cloud testing solutions, Maestro Cloud is specifically designed for Maestro tests, ensuring reliable and consistent results. With a proven track record among engineering teams at major companies such as Microsoft, Meta, Uber, Disney, Stripe, and Deel, Maestro is an open-source framework that is actively maintained and supported by a growing community of developers. Whether you are a startup launching your first mobile app or an enterprise managing extensive testing across various devices, Maestro offers the reliability, speed, and simplicity necessary to deliver exceptional user experiences.

"Promising Idea, but Web Automation Keeps Overwriting Steps and Breaking Tests"

2/5

What do you like best about Maestro?

The idea and general direction of what it was trying to do were very promising. I can see that it should be simple, with easy-to-write automation across several different platforms Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maestro?

In actually trying to build the automation, specifically around web automation, the application would add in its own steps or overwrite what I was doing, and my tests would just not work at all. Making it pretty much unusable for our team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Maestro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Sadly it did not solve any problems for us. The Mobile App Testing functionality was on par with our existing solutions so there is no point in us switching - pricing wise Maestro is more costly than our solution (In house + 3rd Party). We will definitely revisit the solution in the future as I am sure future updates and fixes will make it better, but for now it is not the right fit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Increase Confidence In Our Native iOS & Android App Releases With Super Easy E2E Testing"

5/5

What do you like best about Maestro?

- Super easy setup to test native iOS and Android E2E flows

- Easy writeable and readable E2E tests

- Implementation works super fast, very easy to set up MVP and start experiences with Maestro E2E testing

- Open source an running it locally does not need big bunch of money

- Cloud support to have history and automation on E2E test runs

- Slack customer support is amazing, fast and skilled Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maestro?

- Pricing of Cloud support makes it a corporate feature, hard to use it for small, non-profit projects Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Maestro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our biggest user base is on our native platform. Before Maestro, struggeled with having a consistent E2E setup for our iOS & Android app. Since Maestro, every PR and every release is fully E2E tested and gives a big bunch of confidence in releasing new versions without introducing bugs. "Makes Testing More Manageable"

3.5/5

What do you like best about Maestro?

What I like best about Maestro is how intuitive it is to use. It makes complex tasks feel straightforward, and I don’t need to spend much time figuring things out. It helps me stay focused and work more efficiently without unnecessary complications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maestro?

At times, Maestro feels slightly rigid, and I would like more control over how certain options are configured. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Maestro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Maestro solves the issue of having too many scattered tools and steps. By keeping everything in one place, it makes my work more efficient and less stressful. Also it helps me to have similar e2e tests for iOS and Android Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Agnostic-platform tool - Easy to Use: Click Elements in Maestro Studio Instead of Typing"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Maestro?

It’s a platform-agnostic tool. I can use it in my React Native projects for both iOS and Android, and it also works with the native Android and iOS platforms. It’s easy to use. With Maestro Studio, I can click on elements instead of typing the button ID. Maestro Studio also has an internal ChatGPT that makes writing tests even easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maestro?

Sometimes Maestro disconnects from my Android device for no apparent reason. When that happens, I have to disconnect and then reconnect the device again to get it working. This is something that needs to be fixed on macOS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Maestro solving and how is that benefiting you?

I was able to create integration tests and end-to-end tests with Maestro easily. It feels faster and more straightforward than using native-platform tools like XCUITest on iOS and RTNL from React Native. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Amazing Tool, Looking forward for coming up features"

4/5

What do you like best about Maestro?

I loved the easier syntax in form of yaml files, since I already know about tools like Cypress & Playwright, I think Maestro is solving the problem of complex code files and that's really cool. Additionally I also loved the record and play thing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maestro?

The thing that I didn't like was browser integration, or I should say, the current state of browser integration, since I work with a lot of web apps, I think this is a feature worth waiting for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Maestro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tools like cypress or playwright are really good at automation testing but they come with an overhead of complexity due to the code implementation, and I think maestro is solving that part by making it easier and moving it to a simpler syntax like yaml files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Maestro Makes Mobile Automation Testing Fast, Easy, and Efficient"

5/5

What do you like best about Maestro?

Maestro is very easy to get started with, especially for mobile automation testing. Being open source is a big plus, and the documentation is clear and well written. It allows me to quickly create, maintain, and iterate on mobile test flows, which makes day-to-day testing more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maestro?

In some scenarios, especially on mobile screens without proper IDs or accessibility labels, it can be harder to reliably interact with elements. Also, my usage is more focused on mobile, so I don’t explore its web capabilities as much. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Maestro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Maestro helps automate repetitive mobile testing tasks and reduces manual testing effort. It speeds up validation of critical flows, improves test consistency, and allows me to focus more on test strategy and edge cases instead of repeating manual steps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Made Android UI Testing a Breeze"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Maestro?

I love Maestro Studio and how easy it made testing for me. It's really great. UI focused testing like Maestro is what I wanted for a long time for Android. The initial setup was very easy and not hard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maestro?

The startup time is the only culprit for me with Maestro. I stopped running Maestro frequently since the running time was taking ages. I don't know if this can be fixed though as it might be an Android-specific issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Maestro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Maestro simplifies Android UI testing, which was hard and full of boilerplate for me. It replaced our manual testing, streamlining the process significantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple, Fast, and Reliable UI Testing Across iOS and Android"

5/5

What do you like best about Maestro?

Maestro is simple and fast to use. The YAML-based syntax is easy to read and write, tests are quick to set up, and it works reliably across iOS and Android. The built-in waiting and auto-retry logic reduces flakiness, making UI tests more stable and developer-friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maestro?

For more complex scenarios, the YAML approach can feel limiting. Debugging failures can be harder compared to full code-based frameworks, and advanced assertions or custom logic sometimes require workarounds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Maestro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Maestro solves the problem of slow, flaky, and hard-to-maintain mobile UI tests. It allows us to quickly automate critical user flows with minimal setup, reducing manual testing effort and catching regressions earlier. This speeds up releases, improves app quality, and gives the team more confidence when shipping changes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Growing community presence makes Maestro feel future-proof for mobile testing"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Maestro?

What I like best about Maestro is its growing presence and visibility in the community. Through Twitter updates, videos, and shared examples, you increasingly come across Maestro in day-to-day conversations about mobile testing. This constant exposure makes it easy to stay informed about new features and best practices, and it creates confidence that the tool is actively maintained and evolving. As a result, Maestro feels more and more like a worthwhile and future-proof choice for mobile test automation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maestro?

The biggest downside of Maestro is handling highly dynamic apps. When multiple apps are built from the same codebase but differ across branches or server-side configurations, maintaining Maestro tests becomes very difficult. Small changes in server settings or runtime behavior can significantly affect flows, making standard Maestro flows hard to reuse or keep stable. For apps with a lot of dynamic content and configuration-driven behavior, this increases maintenance effort and makes it challenging to establish reliable, scalable test coverage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Maestro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Maestro solves the problem of reliably automating end-to-end user flows in mobile applications. It makes it easy to create, execute, and maintain automated flows that reflect real user behavior, which helps reduce manual testing effort and speeds up feedback cycles. From a business perspective, this leads to faster releases, more consistent quality, and better confidence in core user journeys across mobile apps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
