MadeToTag Demo - Define export tags
Export tags (semantic labels) are assigned to paragraph formats in order to identify the type of the content in question. For example, this could be a paragraph or a header. Beyond what InDesign offers, MadeToTag also supports Caption tags for tables and images, BlockQuote tags and Index tags.
MadeToTag Demo - Review export tags
Using the Highlight export tags by color setting, you can clearly see which paragraphs have been tagged and how: Headings are orange; text paragraphs are blue, lists are green. The user now also sees that some paragraphs have not been tagged.
MadeToTag Demo - Structure simple and complex table with just a few click
To support navigation through tables, MadeToTag allows you to assign table structure tags. This function primarily lets you distinguish header cells column or row headings from normal cells.

"Excellent solution for accessible PDF files from InDesign"
What do you like best about MadeToTag?

This software saves a lot of time and hassle . Tables, footnotes, table of contents, alternative texts, artifacts, reading order, tags, metadata, interactive elements, form fields – all of this can be easily and effectively exported from InDesign into an accessible PDF with MadeToTag, which then runs error-free in PAC. Being a trainer for Adobe software, I have tested some alternatives and conducted barrier-free training without MadeToTag. But I highly recommend working with MadeToTag every day you have to produce accessible content.

The software provides a clear and structured guide through the process of exporting an accessible PDF from InDesign. Every setting is saved and doesn't need to be re-entered. It's the best solution ever if you're designing with InDesign and want to end up with an accessible PDF.

Implementation and Integration of this plugin ist most easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MadeToTag?

I would be helpful to hide objects marked as artifacts in MadeToTag. However, customer support has already informed me that this feature is being worked on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Accessibility: MadeToTag guides users through the entire process"
What do you like best about MadeToTag?

MadeToTag, a powerful plug-in for Adobe InDesign, specifically supports users who want to create accessible, PDF/UA-compliant PDF documents.

Creating accessible PDFs from InDesign usually requires extensive rework, which is time-consuming.

MadeToTag guides users systematically and purposefully through the entire process. Nothing is overlooked. It offers an overview function that allows all metadata and alternative texts stored in the document to be conveniently checked and adjusted.

MadeToTag's table tool is unique for creating accessible PDFs. It addresses one of InDesign's biggest weaknesses by enabling effective definition of table headers (column and row headers). This is otherwise not easily possible directly from InDesign and is a significant advantage for accessibility, especially with extensive or complex table documents.

Additionally, MadeToTag significantly reduces the usual corrections in the PDF after export.

The application of the plugin is very easy, there are tutorial videos for it. The installation/integration into InDesign is just as simple. I haven't needed customer support so far, which is overall positive.

In almost all projects, I now also have to create accessible outputs (Accessibility Strengthening Act, BFSG), so I use the plugin daily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MadeToTag?

So far, I haven't noticed anything that would prevent me from buying the plugin. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Needful things – best accessible plug-in on the market"
What do you like best about MadeToTag?

Unfortunately, it is still not possible to output error-free, accessible PDFs from InDesign. The Made-To-Tag plug-in from axaio is the only way for me and my customers to quickly and reliably create perfect, accessible documents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MadeToTag?

So far, there's nothing I don't like about this plug-in. There have been a few bugs in the past, but they were always fixed quickly and effectively. As for the UI, it would be nice to have the option to navigate the seven steps in a non-linear fashion but that is not a critical issue ;-) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Bridging the Gap Between Accessibility Experts and Design Teams"
What do you like best about MadeToTag?

What I like most about MadeToTag is its clear, step-by-step workflow that simplifies creating accessible PDFs directly from InDesign. It guides users through essential tasks like setting heading structures, reading order, and alt text, making complex accessibility requirements easy to manage. Even those without deep accessibility knowledge can use it confidently. The seamless integration into InDesign allows designers to focus on layout without sacrificing compliance. It’s efficient, reliable, and a real time-saver. MadeToTag empowers everyday users to produce professional, accessible documents—making it an essential tool for anyone serious about digital inclusion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MadeToTag?

What I like least about MadeToTag is that it relies heavily on the user's knowledge of proper accessibility practices. While the interface is user-friendly, it doesn’t always explain why certain steps are important, which can leave less experienced users unsure if they’re making the right choices. Additionally, the tool is limited to InDesign, so it’s not useful for teams working across multiple platforms. Some error messages could also be more descriptive, helping users troubleshoot more efficiently. Despite these points, it's still an excellent tool just one that benefits greatly from proper training and context. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Automatic creation of accessible PDF/UA"
What do you like best about MadeToTag?

We use InDesign to create publications, magazines and documentations. MadeToTag is a perfect fit for us because we can directly export into standard compliant PDF. To meet the necessary requirements the Plug-in guides us through the process with notes on the important settings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MadeToTag?

There is nothing we do not like but we would prefer that InDesign itself can export in PDF/UA without additional software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"My favorite tool for creating accessible PDFs out of InDesign"
What do you like best about MadeToTag?

It provides a comprehensive guide on creating an accessible PDF, offering features not available in InDesign. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MadeToTag?

Navigating to an earlier or later step can be a bit cumbersome, since the guided steps are sequential. But this is a minor issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Helps quickly to get the job done"
What do you like best about MadeToTag?

The guided workflow makes it quite easy to process all necessary work steps in a fast way. This affects preparation, tagging itself and export. It contains much useful option, like marking content by color to visualize issues and other stuff.

The result is much better in comparison to indesign itself, especially if you deal with tables. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MadeToTag?

For now no idea for my daily work. In the future maybe some AI addons. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
