The user interface is similar in a way to the computer game Sims, where there are menus to navigate a large entorage and a simple click to add them to the model. It also is great at taking a model from another program and quickly transforming it into a rendering. Last, as a landscape architect, the main reason why Lumion stands out from the competition is the large library of plants that look great when rendered, unlike many other rendering programs. **What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?** It requires a computer with high-end specs (graphics card, processor, ram, etc) in order to use it efficiently. Another limitation is all Lumion renderings tend to look alike - there is not a lot of customization to the way the model is rendered. **What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Lumion to quickly make renderings that are more compelling than a view out of SketchUp or Rhino. It allows us to make our 3D models look more realistic for an audience that does not understand architectural graphics. We can do animation very easily and effectively on this software. You can bring any file of different extensions in this software and can easily get work on it. As lumion is one of the large software so if you want to use this software one should have proper system. Import/reload process of models is relatively painless. With the right hardware it can cope with very vast and complex models and remain stable. The lumion team offers good technical support and are responsive. License are not subscription based so far. **What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?** Limited amount of advanced tools for animation is very restrictive, materials creation and management lacks refinements and functionalities, you can’t import animated FBX, and the UI is not particularly intuitive or efficient. The asset library is a great starting point but the quality of the assets is sometimes inconsistent. It’s great for tight deadlines but it remains a fairly expensive solution to buy and update every year thereafter. Cheaper solutions are catching up fast. **What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** Even with complex scene you can use it for real-time navigation and export realistic stills and animations. It’s so fast (we are talking 1-3min to render a large fully populated architectural scene with most effects on) you can test design options very quickly and with a decent amount of realism, so it’s certainly a plus for the designer and the client. You might not get the most realistic results but for most instances it’s enough to convey an idea pretty accurately and the speed means you have more time to focus on the design itself. ### 8. It is easy to use and I think an average person can learn to use it quickly. I remembered that I learned to use it in a day. The quality of the outputs are over the top and I don't have to wait for plenty of hours or even a day for it to finish rendering. **What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?** The downside is that sometimes it crashes or I experience some lag of the software. The PC hardware requirements for me to run Lumion is high. I need to have an upgraded RAM or Graphic video for me to run it smoothly. **What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** I used lumion for 3d Image Renderings and 3D video walkthroughs. The built-in assets such as the people, plants, and buildings are beneficial for me to make the scene more lively and realistic. Also, you can create different types of renders in no time, like sketchy or lines. **What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?** It requires a lot of capacity for the computer and every time it is increasing, the minimum requirements is 16GB of RAM, a graphic card dedicated if 4GB, and is only available for windows and the colors in most of windows computers are not that good so I usually take a render to send it to my iPhone and check the colors. **What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rendering spaces to showcase to the client, they usually have a very realistic view of how the project will be once it is built. I use version 10 Pro. I wouldn't say it's the "best" or most "photorealistic" render tool.. but I still LOVE it! Lumion saves a ton of time in the render process. What could take many other softwares hours is just seconds with Lumion. As everyone knows its very intuitive and simple to learn. It makes the render process more "fun" to work with as the real time engine gives instant feedback on materials and modeling. There's also a TON of video tutorials on how to use it (which is what made me get it in the first place) . This software rarely crashes and is stand alone from Sketchup or other modeling software which makes it better to run and not run into conflict. An automatic recovery file will prompt at startup if a crash occurs so nothing is lost. The renders are always consistent and never alters color or light (which I've experienced with other renderers). The quality of the renders can easily compare to TwinMotion, Enscape or VRay. Lumion has potential to be one of the best! I would recommend it if you care more about saving time, getting high quality semi-realistic images with an easy learning curve. Fast output with little effort. **What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?** The price. As much as I love it its very expensive for the Basic and Pro version (double the cost of Basic). It would also require an expensive graphics card. And for the price.. I wish it were just a little bit more photo realistic.. but who knows whats coming. It is easy to transfer my 3D models from SketchUp to render quickly. Also, I can add trees, furniture, people, natural elements in this programme without losing fast usage feature. Different natural earth surfaces and weather conditions can be selected from the Lumion Library based on my project environments. I locate my designs in these environments directly. Adding these elements and grouping are very convenient to revise project after client feedbacks. **What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?** Moving in the Lumion environment can be sometimes a nightmare due to the wide objective feature. I am struggling to go a certain point of the design by moving slowly. This saves a lot of time in photoshop afterwards, and it is able to be applied to a set of views that are pre-configured. **What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?** Navigation of the app is unintuitive and different from other modelling software, so has a pretty steep learning curve. Also, the origin point of models can be quite problematic when placing updated massing from 3d software such as Rhino. I would recommended paying for the premium license so that you get access to the full stock library of people and planting, as the free tier only gives a pretty limited selection of choice. **Recommendations to others considering Lumion Pro:** It does what it says on the tin. Provides quick but attractive renders efficiently. I would warn that the user interface does have a somewhat steep learning curve, and the navigation is a little unusual. Having been the Architectural Visualisation business for over twenty years I now use Lumion to produce all my renders for clients. There is an excellent library of plants, trees, cars etc built into the program which allows the population of a scene effectively and quickly saving time importing third party objects.
