## Lumion Pro Reviews
  ### 1. Powerful Renders with Some Limitations

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike W. | Operations Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

I use Lumion Pro for audio visual renders of spaces, classrooms, lecture theatres, and tenders. I appreciate the integration with SketchUp, where I can draw fast and quickly add materials and textures in real-time using the Lumion plugin. The ability to render videos in 4k, still images, and 360 panoramic views for AR use is a plus. The library of people and objects is extensive, and I really like the ease of use, speed, and rendering quality. It enables clients to visualize concepts or spaces as they might actually look and see how people might interact within those spaces.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

It's very power hungry on the GPU and PC, it is limited to the size of model you can import and work with; it struggles with large models and doesn't use true ray tracing like D5 Render. It's also overpriced and expensive versus D5 Render and the competition. Rendering 4K long videos is almost impossible as it cannot handle the length and fails regularly. The library of assets could be larger, more detailed, and focused on UK fixtures. Rendering emissive textures is not great and it glitches a lot over distance. It really needs a cloud rendering option and an option to export the completed textured 3D model into other formats.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lumion Pro integrates with SketchUp, allowing me to quickly add materials and render in 4K. It's fast and lets clients visualize spaces and equipment interaction.

**Official Response from Veronica Greenly:**

> Hi Mike, we're glad to hear that the integration with SketchUp and the extensive library of people and objects in Lumion Pro is helpful. We hear your concerns about the hardware consumption and model limitations, and appreciate the feedback. If you're open to it, you can also submit your suggestions on our product roadmap page: https://lumion.com/product/roadmap

  ### 2. Great Visual Enhancements but Resource Intensive

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Guilherme V.

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

I appreciate that Lumion Pro is free as a student, which is the thing I like most about it. The software enhances the visualization aspect, providing great effects that my modeling program doesn't offer. Additionally, I value the materials feature in Lumion Pro where I can add materials to specific parts of what I create.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

It's quite a demanding software, especially if you don't have a good enough laptop or computer. I also feel like starting on it with a blank slate doesn't work as well. You have specific templates, but there's always stuff in it, so when I want to make something in white space, I need to first delete everything and change a lot before I can work on my model. Also, importing maps through Google Maps with randomized building heights could be improved. If I know certain heights, I should be able to adjust the buildings to those specific heights. Initial setup was difficult because it's such a large and demanding file. My school laptop didn't accept it very well, struggling with the graphics. It wasn't clear how large the file size was, and I had to delete a lot to make space.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lumion Pro enhances the visualization aspect, offering better visual effects that my modeling program doesn’t provide sufficiently.

**Official Response from Veronica Greenly:**

> Thank you for sharing your experience with Lumion Pro. We're pleased to hear that you find the software valuable for enhancing visualization and adding materials to your creations. We understand the challenges you've faced with the demanding nature of the software, and we're continuously working on improvements to optimize performance and make the initial setup smoother. Your feedback is appreciated.

  ### 3. Intuitive UI and Instant Texture Changes Make Customization Easy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** William A. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

I find that Lumion Pro is thankfully easy to understand and to use thank to it's intuitive UI. The feature that I found the most helpful was it's ability to instantly change the textures on certain objects, which, paired with it's full library of textures, made the customization of projects easy and fun!

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

Lumion Pro could at times be laggy and almost always had a fairly low frame rate, though I believe that this was more-so due to my PC's average specs rather than being a fault of the program as a whole.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows for an environment in which I can finalize builds that I have created in other programs like Revit, which allows for me to get a better view and understanding of the build than I could in those programs.

  ### 4. Detailed Rendering Made Easy, Needs Smarter Material Recognition

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Qianwei Z. | Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

I like the ray tracing feature in Lumion Pro. It renders emissive materials correctly with reflections and shadows, which makes detailed interior rendering easier.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

It recognizes wrong material with 'water' in it as water, like a treatment for bricks. I hope I can turn this automation off when I need to, especially for most cases, there are very few water materials and it doesn't take a long time to apply manually. Also, I can't transfer personalized items and materials from old Lumion to the new one, which is annoying.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lumion Pro creates realistic renderings with its ray tracing feature, making detailed interior rendering easier by correctly rendering emissive materials with reflections and shadows.

**Official Response from Veronica Greenly:**

> We're glad to hear that you are enjoying the ray tracing feature in Lumion Pro and finding it helpful for detailed interior rendering. Sharing a link to a support guide on how to transfer materials from older versions to the latest: https://support.lumion.com/knowledge-base/api/v2/help_center/en-us/articles/19339275362332.json

  ### 5. Fast Rendering, Great for Beginners, But Needs More Flexibility

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mouncif R. | 3D designer, Manufacturing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

I really appreciate Lumion Pro for its excellent speed in rendering, which tremendously increases my efficiency as it renders in about three to ten minutes depending on the complexity of the scene. This is particularly beneficial compared to other software like V-Ray. The software's ease of use stands out, making my workflow very straightforward. I love the availability of 3D models and textures within Lumion Pro itself. I don't need to import additional assets such as kids or humans; they are already integrated, which saves a lot of time. Most textures I need are also pre-loaded, simplifying my work further. Lumion Pro's rendering capabilities, especially the ray tracing compared to other tools, are very impressive. The ease and smoothness of the initial setup were fantastic, enhancing my experience with the software from the start.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

{"I dislike that Lumion Pro doesn't have a 'Control Z' undo feature, which is a significant disadvantage during my workflow.","I find the inability to rig characters within Lumion Pro limiting, as character rigging functionality is quite essential for comprehensive scene development.","The quality of certain assets like bushes is underwhelming in Lumion Pro. They appear to be low quality and not realistic enough for professional standards."}

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Lumion Pro for fast and efficient 3D rendering. It saves time by rendering scenes in minutes and provides realistic 3D assets, enhancing the visual quality of my work. The easy setup and built-in textures and models make my workflow seamless.

**Official Response from Veronica Greenly:**

> We're happy to hear that Lumion Pro has increased your efficiency with its fast rendering and easy setup. We appreciate your feedback regarding the undo feature, character rigging, and asset quality, and we will take this into account for future enhancements.

  ### 6. Efficient Rendering with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roy H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

I appreciate Lumion Pro for its good speed versus quality balance, which is crucial since time is money. The initial setup was easy for me, which made getting started straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

Organizing objects, and import export flow

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lumion Pro provides a good balance of speed vs quality in my garden design projects, saving time and enhancing efficiency.

  ### 7. Easy, an amazing workflow trough Autodesk

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emmanuel A. | BIM Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

It's amazing when you start working with Lumion. The workflow between Revit and Lumion is incredibly simple, allowing you to seamlessly integrate both. When you immerse yourself in the Lumion environment, you'll spend a few hours to achieve excellent results.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

One of the challenges with Lumion is managing materials. It's not very easy to work with, especially when dealing with large projects, making it complicated to handle them within the Lumion environment.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's an incredible way to showcase your project in record time. The user-friendly management allows our coworkers to be very creative and focus on the project, rather than trying to understand how to use the program. Of course, this helps our customers get what they need as soon as possible.

  ### 8. Quick 3D rendering and visualization software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Swapnil M. | Architect & BIM Manager, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

Lumion simplified our jobs by facilitating quick and efficient final image renders. It doesn't necessitate in-depth rendering and graphics design knowledge. And it produces incredible-quality images, posters, and other printable media to exhibit to clients.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

Only the Windows operating system supports Lumion.Although the procedure is fairly simple, the lumion engine occasionally consumes so much processing power that it crashes background apps. Additionally, the quality of your graphics card and PC's processing power affect the final product.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The best feature of Lumion is how simple it is to use at first; anyone can start to render basic scenes without much difficulty. One of the largest component libraries you can find in software like this, the component library is really large.

  ### 9. Very powerful and easy to use, but expensive

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David C. | Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

The livesync function is the best part of Lumion, in my mind. It's seconded by the ability to export VR views and quickly and efficiently create renderings with accurate-looking sun shading and materiality. The program is overall quite intuitive and easy to teach. I also like that it has a perpetual license, and doesn't rely on subscriptions.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

It is extremely expensive and requires a lot of computer power. The program is also jerky when being used remotely, meaning that it needs to be installed locally on each workstation.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is able to create renderings extremely quickly and easily. We used to rely on 3DS Max, and the amount of time required to compose a decent rendering was prohibitive. Lumion affords us the possibility to create high-quality renderings in a fraction of the time.

  ### 10. Mind blowing

I love the quality of the renders and the ease of use. It is easy to learn and use the software even for beginners.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

My experience was that the software requires a very powerful computer regarding RAM and graphics card requirements.
Most beginners might not have access to this.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This was my go-to tool for visualization and presentation of my architectural works.

  ### 12. An excellent package for rapid iterations, landscaping and architectural presentation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben G. | Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

The trees and vegetation are excellent, easily placed and high fidelity. Animating and rendering my architectural designs have been made easy with this software.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

The selection and deletion of objects is quite painful. You often lose a selection half way through and cannot return to that selection, wasting time. There are no shortcuts.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Previously, the rendering software I have used has had little to no vegetation or landscape tools. Lumion allows me to rapidly animate my scene and create an aesthetically pleasing rendering in a short time.

Lumion was fast, Easy to use, Has a robust library, and offers good renders without going through long complicated workflows as seen in apps like Vray.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

With the advent of RTX, Lumion has fallen behind software like D5 Renderer and Enscape since they opt not to implement real-time Raytracing.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lumion is fast, Has a Robust library, and is easy to use. It enables me to output project renders and deliver them to clients within a few minutes.

  ### 16. Lumion is tool go to if you want to show a great vedio of your project to anybody!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

Lumion does excellent render so easily. And it produces videos that customers prefer most of the time. Setting up for renderings can cost a lot of time, and Lumion solves this perfectly.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

Sometimes there are glitches, and hard to navigate in a 3D view.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rendering for architecture is not easy, but Lumion makes it less a headache.

  ### 17. One of the best for simple and fast output

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan D. | Associate, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

I like the impressive ratio speed/quality of the rendering process for both still and animation and the overall speed and simplicity of setting up and populating a scene. Import/reload process of models is relatively painless. With the right hardware it can cope with very vast and complex models and remain stable. The lumion team offers good technical support and are responsive. License are not subscription based so far.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

Limited amount of advanced tools for animation is very restrictive, materials creation and management lacks refinements and functionalities, you can’t import animated FBX, and the UI is not particularly intuitive or efficient. The asset library is a great starting point but the quality of the assets is sometimes inconsistent. It’s great for tight deadlines but it remains a fairly expensive solution to buy and update every year thereafter. Cheaper solutions are catching up fast.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Even with complex scene you can use it for real-time navigation and export realistic stills and animations. It’s so fast (we are talking 1-3min to render a large fully populated architectural scene with most effects on) you can test design options very quickly and with a decent amount of realism, so it’s certainly a plus for the designer and the client. You might not get the most realistic results but for most instances it’s enough to convey an idea pretty accurately and the speed means you have more time to focus on the design itself.

  ### 18. Excellent software for creating landscape designs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

natural elements collection is very impressive

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

Need more water cascade or water elements

**Recommendations to others considering Lumion Pro:**

More compatible with other software

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

sometimes the file gets crashed and heavy.

  ### 19. Amazing software to create instant sets of visuals with realistic entourage and vegetation

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Felix Y. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

The stock library of entourage and vegetation makes it incredibly quick and easy to populate my models so that they look interesting and convincing without taking ages to do.

This saves a lot of time in photoshop afterwards, and it is able to be applied to a set of views that are pre-configured.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

Navigation of the app is unintuitive and different from other modelling software, so has a pretty steep learning curve. Also, the origin point of models can be quite problematic when placing updated massing from 3d software such as Rhino.

I would recommended paying for the premium license so that you get access to the full stock library of people and planting, as the free tier only gives a pretty limited selection of choice.

**Recommendations to others considering Lumion Pro:**

It does what it says on the tin. Provides quick but attractive renders efficiently. I would warn that the user interface does have a somewhat steep learning curve, and the navigation is a little unusual. Otherwise would thoroughly recommend.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a tremendously powerful tool for creating a very quick batch of illustrative renders of your project. Because you can render multiple views simultaneously, and the model can be auto-updated with new massing, it makes it very efficient.

Realistic vegetation and entourage also populate models quickly, so that you don't have to do any post-production afterwards.

  ### 20. great for videos and animations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elías Jose R. | Architectural Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

i have used this for a while, and is a great tool to create photorealistic images and good videos for clients

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

the library could be better, because the objecs are a little bit dull

**Recommendations to others considering Lumion Pro:**

You can the best results of Lumion after a while using it. So dont worry if at the beggining it seems to be all bad, with practice you will get there. Watch tutorials and practice a lot. The integration with different softwares such as sketchup has been improved in the last versions, be sure to check that out, it is going to surprise you how easy it is now

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

presentations for clients

  ### 21. Easy to use, quick renderings, but limited entourage.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paua N. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

What I like best about Lumion is how quickly I can create renderings. I can easily populate scenes and create rough vignettes setting up for post production.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

The program is still a bit glitchy with certain commands acting oddly - for example rotating when placing gets a bit tricky. I also wish one could customize hot keys. I also wish there was some way to have multiple users edit or make it easier to load entourage from other models.

**Recommendations to others considering Lumion Pro:**

Very easy to use and implement - totally worth while to learn.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our clients and subs gain a better understanding of the space we are creating. The program is quick thus decisions can be made faster.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy C. | M.D, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

Lumion has now reached a standard where it is possible to produce excellent renders of professional quality. Having been the Architectural Visualisation business for over twenty years I now use Lumion to produce all my renders for clients. It's very fast to render out images which allows for quickly adjusting textures and lighting in order to perfect the final render. There is an excellent library of plants, trees, cars etc built into the program which allows the population of a scene effectively and quickly saving time importing third party objects. As with all 3d rendering programs to get the best renders you will need skill as an artist but unlike other rendering programs it is more than possible to produce good quality renders in very little time and with a very short learning curve.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

Viewports aren't currently available providing plan and elevational positioning of objects.
Camera paths or locations can't be seen in the scene or be positioned accurately.

**Recommendations to others considering Lumion Pro:**

upgades are expensive

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very fast turn around for clients due to the exceptional rendering speed - this has allowed a massive increase in productivity and profit.

  ### 27. A great and pro 3D real time visualization software

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Romain L. | Responsable développement informatique, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

Unlike other software I could use, Lumion is really perfect to take in hand. Exceptional speed of execution and display compared to other similar engines. In addition to this, the professional version is filled with plants, cars, people who normally pay! The import is done without problems, the models are retained once the software relaunched. Lumion is very useful for the exceptionally fast rendering! Provided you have a very good graphics card, can easily render in 4K in 2 minutes. Lumion also has a simple interface to understanding, many post-processing tools as well as various artistic filters.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

Lumion has some problems for me:
The rendering is not pushed enough in terms of realism,
For fast rendering and good performance during use it is necessary to have a very good graphics card.

**Recommendations to others considering Lumion Pro:**

If your company has the financial resources to switch to Lumion, or you have problems using your other engines, go through the trial version of Lumion. You will not regret it

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lumion has allowed us to make breakthroughs in terms of time and money. Making our render much more beautiful despite a lower resolution, the time / money ratio plays a lot. The rich and diversified library proposed as well as the export of the files directly under SketchUp, really facilitated us the task!

  ### 28. Fast presentable renders and animations.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

Speed of final output, effect stack pre-sets, amount of objects, very easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

Price is quite steep, no custom rendering dimensions, no possibility to seperate faces to attach other materials/colors/textures, not easy to make animations from custom made objects, rain and snow also inside the models (no collision detection)

**Recommendations to others considering Lumion Pro:**

If you want an easy to use standalone render program for your designs that delivers good looking and fast output, try Lumion.

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Delivering good renders and videos on time.

  ### 29. excellent visualization tool for supplementing revit

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** jason n. | Director of Design Senior Principal, Architecture & Planning, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

more in depth shadowing, sun, terrain, and the ability to quickly update multiple views with a new model. expanding library, especially in site elements adds to the use

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

human characters still are a bit "video-game" ish and plasticky, could use more interior entourage elements

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

this software is a huge assist to visualsation and client buy in to design concepts. this helps move the process forward more quickly

  ### 30. Comfortable, relatively easy to design 3D structures from a 2D template

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Lumion Pro?**

Seamless User Interface, easy learning curve

**What do you dislike about Lumion Pro?**

Nothing in particular, Have no difficulties so far

**What problems is Lumion Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Used it to design a few landscapes and translate from a 2D setting into a 3D rendering
