LRS/DIS was a good AD authentication integration piece. User self service is nice. **What do you dislike about LRS Output Management?** Gateway is difficult to set up and does not query Active Directory like LRS/DIS does so either the user needs to manually enroll their card or the admin must run a manual import an a regular basis. They do not send email updates for issues or problems. Support documentation is limited and self help is non-existant. All other companies we deal with there is a lot of peer documentation but that is not the case with LRS. The support personell are nice but have a dificult time helping with issues as the fixes are not in their public available documentation and they must ask for internal documentation. I get the feeling this is so you must purchase their professional services to impliment updates. **What problems is LRS Output Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** MFP Secure for tap to release printing is helping secure PHI in our environment. ### 2. The software has filters that can be customized to do various things like tray selection or bin selection. In order to insure consistency and to remove the requirement for Bardimms, you can use Global Fonts. Printers can be set up with IP Addresses or Host Names. If a printer is down you can divert the output to another printer. You can catagogize the printers to lets say be grouped by geographic location or by application. Queues can be used to store documents for a configurable length of time. This helps in the event important documents are stuck in a broken printers queue so you can send the output to another printer. The support from LRS is impecable. They always get back to you and help you to resolve any issues and instruct you how to read the logs so you can determine problems yourself. Upgrades are easy as you just have to extract new binaries after you save the original binaries. Since the configuration of each printer is stored in a file you can replicate and entire system quickly. **What do you dislike about LRS Output Management?** I have been using LRS for a number of years and honestly I have not come across anything I dislike. If you dislike something or wish the software could do something else just ask the technical team and they may have a solution that you are not aware of cause the system is highly configurable. **What problems is LRS Output Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** Since the system is highly configurable you can set it up to solve most problems and if you are not sure how to solve a problem check with technical support because they most likely have a solution and will share their knowledge with you. I have mentioned many of the features the I found benefit me and my organization above. ### 4. No better way to manage high volume Epic print output **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2024 **What do you like best about LRS Output Management?** LRS has allowed us to manage our previously unmanageable high volume of EMR print output to a vastly diverse catalog of physical target devices. **What do you dislike about LRS Output Management?** the initial setup is very complex and detailed, but once that base configuration is established it scales and grows very dynamically. **What problems is LRS Output Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** we had a steep spike in organization growth and the alternative print management method of using load distributed print server pool quickly became unmanageable due to paper source configurations requiring manual per-queue build configuration on each server and spooler in our environment. LRS allows us to set the paper source in code, once, in the application and build one instance of the printer, which is then replicated to the rest of the pool servers via AlertX. this simple facet was a total game changer for us. Add to that the elimination of the need for drivers and we have efficiency with stability. ### 6. We have had far less outages since making the switch. The support staff has also been very helpful in diagnosing issues that have been found. **What do you dislike about LRS Output Management?** There are only a couple of things I would like to see changed/updated about LRS. 1. Updates are a bit of a pain. I am never sure if there is a newer version and when there is a newer version the upgrade process can be complicated. I wish that I could download the update and when I run it, it looks and sees what has updates and does that instead of having to pick and choose what needs updated. 2. The reports could use a lot of updating for me. I think there should be a way to sort and export the printers, but that is not possible. **What problems is LRS Output Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** The number of outages we were having with Microsoft Print Servers. We almost never have outages now and when we do, it has been anti-virus causing slow downs. ### 7. They have always helped at every step of the way. From a software and solution perspective, LRS Output Management creates multiple products which do exactly what they're supposed to do, have superb resilience and uptime, can be used massively at any and all hours, are easily integrated into required workflows, and are simple enough for large audiences to use and understand. From a support perspective, LRS Output Management provides outstanding support, troubleshooting, and general knowledge for all aspects of their products, from implementation to resolving issues to answering any and all questions. From a communication and sales perspective, LRS Output Management is fantastic: From contract and new product information to providing critical support and planning for new product implementation, their services are top-notch. **What do you dislike about LRS Output Management?** Checking with management, we can't think of any negative feedback to suggest for LRS Output Management. Our organization is sending to traditional printers, network folders, and a few other digital receivers. Also, whenever we have issues the support team at LRS has always been top notch. **What do you dislike about LRS Output Management?** While the interface is simple and everyday management is easy, with our organization we have a complicated set up for all of the various inputs and outputs to LRS VPSX. **What problems is LRS Output Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have enabled their secure printing option as well as badge in workflows to help move documents where they are most needed. This has significantly reduced the use of paper in all of the areas where we have deployed all of the featuers of LRS besides just everyday printing. ### 10. Their SAP printing integration solution is robust and has multiple options to fix problems. In fact, one of the main factors in choosing LRS is printing from SAP. Their Support team is really good, knowledgeable, and ready to help. Always use LRS team for a complicated implementation. **What do you dislike about LRS Output Management?** I will not call dislike, I will call it lack of features or complication in those features which could be better or simpler to use. Secure printing is complicated to set up on printers. I'm missing an option to generate a report or list of printers. To get it it is required to purchase a separate module. There are several ancillary applications that offer solutions or features for many desireable services, like secure printing, self service administration, etc. Their product suite makes a "best of suite" approach to EOM easy to support. **What do you dislike about LRS Output Management?** Documentation for services is starting to become an issue. Products are released ahead of guides illustrating how set up certain application components. There are also confguration points in multiple applications that don't reside in the main interface, and are only set in text configuration files buried in application file systems. This means a consumer is either "all in" in discovering and learning the nuances of LRS products, or relying heavily on proffessional services to stand up the environment. **What problems is LRS Output Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** LRS EOM allows us to manage signifficant print volume from all sources in our enterprise. We also use secure print and integration apps for our core business applications and their requirements. We're able to manage a very large environment with minimal staff. ### 12. The LRS platform itself is very powerful, helping to achieve your organizational printer goals to reduce complexity and streamline your printing efforts. To truly understand what LRS can do, you need to view the full platform to see the amount of benefits that are available to you not provided by other enterprise print management solutions. Customer support is great and the account team continues to engage after implemenation to ensure you're using all the benefits of what you've purchased. LRS account team wants to avoid having any shelfware to avoid missing out on any ROI that you caputured as part of your purchase. **What do you dislike about LRS Output Management?** Complexity to setup has been a major challenge, but it's less about LRS and more about internal policies and workflows. There is no blueprint to follow when setting up LRS as each environment is different. You can only print from an external email address (address that is not your company) its a bit confusing for the users, becuase the process is a bit similar to logging on manual for Secure Print. Other Guest or Mobile Print systems do not restrict you on guest printing. but other guest print systems are standalone and are not tied to main print system. so you give and take with this option **What problems is LRS Output Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were able to put multiple print management systems into one system. so we merged two Secure Print systems, two Mobile print system, three girest print systems and a slew of direct print systems. into 1 system, we reduce our server overhead from 150 servers globally to 20 print servers glovally. we create a test enviroment and have even added features of MAC Printing, Internet Printing and Mobile device printing. ### 14. We need a robust OMS solution to manage 7000+ printers in 60+ facilities around the world. We need the OMS solution to have sufficient authorization control and user interface, to allow facility engineer can manage their printout within their facility. VPSX delivered the solution perfectly. Our printout volume is about 400K documents per day, OMS system availability is critical to our business. VPSX is very robust, we hardly open support tickets with LRS in past 18 years of implementation. As long as the underline infrastructure is robust enough, our VPSX system ever recorded non-stop service for over 1000 days. ### 15. We have been using the system for years and have had an overall great experience. The administrative interface is intuitive and easy to manage. It is easy to find what you need and determine what may be happening with a device. The fle transfer function is a nice unexpected benefit. The support and sales interactions are always pleasant and timely. The setup was very straight forward and the integration was seamless. I can't really think of anything that we would want, that the system does not provide. We no longer have spooler issues like we did with standard Windows printing. Management of the product is very simple so we spend minimal time dealing with the very few issues we have had. **What do you dislike about LRS Output Management?** Loading the Personal Print Management application on all workstations. My Firm (work place) has used products from LRS in 10+ years (LRS, VPS, etc for 10+ years). Solutions from LRS work and run very stably. * I have never experienced huge errors on products from LRS. The errors I have experienced are due to changes in infrastructure – and here LRS helps. For example, many "mail providers" have increased security in relation to emails. Here I noticed that emails from Mainframe were perceived as "SPAM" in relation to DKIM validation. The problem was basically rooted in codepages – which can always play tricks on zOS. LRS really helped. The solution took a long time (3 month), but it was also a complex problem. So the highest praise for LRS for great support :-) **What do you dislike about LRS Output Management?** The LRS websites are diffucult as a customer to navigate on. It takes time to find the correct subpage. The "Page Center" web interface is difficult to navigate in, and the site should be updated to a more modern look. Great support for SAP outputs, easy integration with SAP. **What do you dislike about LRS Output Management?** Very poor support, very slow, late responses. No SLAs, no gurantees for support. Support and development needs to/must adopt/accept "fix the basics" strategy. Low quality of new development, many new bugs in historically stable products, like VPSX. Many bugs and less functionality in newly developed products, like LRS.Gateway and Internet printing. New strategy, which is fully understandable, is impacting existing customers and there is a hard push from LRS to use new product(s) even they are not comparable, stable enough and ready for enterprise environment.
