This software is absoutely insane. We create a lot of videos for our promotions, and normally would hire a voice actor to do the voice over work. There are a few problems with hiring a voice actor. First is timeframe, which could be 24-48 hours. Next is cost, which could easily range to the hundreds if not low thousands. And final is the fexibility. If we make a last minute change to the script, we are at the mercy of our voice actor to re-record it, which could take another 24-48 hours.

Our process is simple. We first write up our script, then I'll use my "non-professional" voice to figure out timing and enunciation. Next I would send that to our voice actor to read and record, then wait for them to send it back. I'd then lay the track to the video. If we wanted to make a last minute change to the script, it will be a 24-48 hour wait for our voice actor to get the new script, record it and send it back.

Lovo takes care of all of this. I have a HUMAN sounding voice that sounds 100% legit. In fact, I think LOVO sounds better than our voice actor. Next is the cost. LOVO is a fraction of the cost. Like pennies! And the most important thing about LOVO is that we can make changes to our script and have the new audio ready in seconds as well as get multiple different voices! Ability to insert expressive AI voices into a script that I have a high degree of control over. No excessive paywalling of necessary features, just the basics and then you are set. I get access to timeline editing features that are comparable to leading video editing software, but made user friendly enough that I generally grasp what to do just from observing it. Sometimes when you revise a sentence in the timeline you experience a ripple effect on every timing that occurs afterward, all the rest of your segments move outward to accommodate your new change. Makes sense, but make it clear how to turn that OFF. It is a lot of manual work to put everything back in perfect sequence.

The variety of voices could be better. English-speaking male voices tend to be oversaturated on the higher, reedy side, not as many deep, scratchy, gruff, gritty, and there are almost no US dialects (midwestern, Southern, Brooklyn, Boston, etc.). I feel like this is true for Aussie and English national voices too. Among voices they do have (particularly male), many aren't robust enough to express different feelings and they default to sounding like they are reading a legalese document. Simple test, make it read "haha" and you'll know if they are robust or not.

There is a cap on how many minutes of audio I can create and I have no idea whether I am approaching it. One day it's going to hit me. I think about it every time I generate a new line.

Customer service and feedback features are always present, but be prepared to have to re-explain whatever happened up to a day after it happens, because apparently no screenshots or activity captures are shared at the moment of submission.
