For more details, refer to this discussion: Looker Studio Community - RESERVED_TOTAL Issue. (https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/Looker-Studio/Random-RESERVED-TOTAL-grouping-when-using-GA4-live-connector/m-p/821696)

 ### 19. User-friendly, customizable, a game-changer for our Analytics and Overall MOPs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea G. | CEO & Founder / Senior Marketing Communications Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

Looker has been transformative for how we manage and interpret data. It has become a tool we use weekly, if not daily. It has been central to our data consolidation and centralization process. We've combined sources including Google Analytics, Search Console, social, and custom spreadsheets that have completely changed how we approach reporting. It has helped us reduce time to generate reports, draw insights, and reduce errors. It was also easy to implement and scale. Looker has helped us build a culture of data-driven decision-making year-round, giving every team the tools and insights they need to operate effectively and efficiently. I have never had to reach out for customer support, which tells me the tool is doing what it is supposed to do.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

There are bugs sometimes with modules, where filters, charts, and data sources aren't syncying or go out of sync for no reason and won't update the visualization. That requires you to sometimes rebuild an entire project, which is very frustrating.
The learning curve for new users using customizations was a little steep. I didn't feel the online training /resources available was sufficient or well positioned. It's more like you're on your own or watching YouTube videos.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker tackles the fragmented data sources and inefficient reporting processes that most businesses have. Before using Looker, our data was siloed (Google Analytics, Search Console, custom spreadsheets, social, paid, and various other platforms), and was manually pulled together in a PowerPoint. Compiling reports was time-consuming and likely included human errors. Looker has centralized these data streams, giving us a single source of truth and eliminating hours spent on manual data corraling. Also, the easy integration of filters has allowed us to scale our services and serve more departments/clients. Instead of spending 3-4 hours in a report, I spend a few minutes monthly now. Of course, set up required hours, but it was worth the investment long-term.

**What do you like best about Looker?**

Looker makes it easy to transform raw data into meaningful insights with highly customizable dashboards and reports. Its LookML modeling layer is extremely powerful, allowing for consistency and scalability in reporting. The ability to drill down into data directly within dashboards provides real-time visibility, which is very helpful for decision-making. Integration with various data sources and Google Cloud services adds even more flexibility.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

The learning curve for LookML can be steep, especially for new users without a technical background. Some advanced customization requires knowledge of SQL, which may not be ideal for non-technical teams. Additionally, dashboard load times can be slower when working with very large datasets, and the cost can be on the higher side for smaller organizations.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker helps centralize and standardize reporting across different teams by providing a single source of truth for data. Instead of spending time manually pulling and cleaning data from multiple sources, Looker automates the process and makes insights easily accessible through dashboards. This has improved decision-making, saved time on reporting, and increased data transparency across the organization. By enabling real-time analysis and self-service reporting, Looker has reduced dependency on technical teams and empowered business users to access insights independently.

 ### 34. Generic review for looker

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shubham S. | Sr. Data Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Looker?**

I think Looker stands out for its ability to transform data into easily accessible insights with its strong focus on data modeling and user-friendly visualizations. One of the things I like best is how Looker allows teams to define a centralized "semantic layer" with LookML, which ensures that business logic is consistent across the entire organization. It makes it easier for non-technical users to explore data, while giving data engineers and analysts the control to shape and model it to fit specific needs.

The ability to build dashboards and reports in a way that's interactive and customizable is also a huge advantage. You can create a more tailored experience for different teams without needing to manually export data every time.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

Looker can have a steep learning curve, especially with its LookML modeling language, which may be challenging for non-technical users. Its data visualization options are less customizable compared to tools like Tableau or Power BI. The reliance on LookML can create bottlenecks for self-service reporting. Looker's pricing can also be expensive, especially for smaller teams. Performance may slow with large datasets, and it lacks some out-of-the-box integrations and collaborative features found in other BI tools.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker is used for creating interactive dashboards and reports, enabling self-service analytics, and exploring data through its semantic modeling layer (LookML). It supports real-time analytics, data modeling, and collaboration by sharing insights across teams. Looker is also used for embedded analytics, integrating with external tools, and maintaining data governance with secure access controls.

**What do you like best about Looker?**

An absolute rockstar tool by Google in terms of creating reports, dashboards and models which can be utilised across teams and members.

At G2, we are using Looker as our major dashboarding tool for providing business insights to our customers which in turn is helping us to generate a good amount of money.

Looker has integrations with a lot of 3-rd party apps which actually makes it versatile.

Since it'a a product by Google, the community and customer support is obviously going to be great.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

Looker is quite complex to implement at first atleast for beginners in data domain and hence takes a good amount of effort in development and maintainence.

Also Looker can be way slow at times if you're asking it to handle a lot of complex data related transformations which might impact deliverables for tight deadlines.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker is helping us to generate cool dashboards for our customers and provide them valuable business insights

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Looker?**

I like Looker for its quick and easy data export to CSV, which aids in efficient data manipulation outside the platform. I appreciate its user-friendly interface, requiring minimal clicks to access required data, and its fast loading times that enhance my workflow productivity.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

I find the lack of self-service capabilities challenging, as I cannot create dashboards or manipulate Looker content myself, limiting my independence. Additionally, the lack of deep integration with other tools like Catalyst and Salesforce makes data interaction less seamless. These aspects hinder maximizing Looker's potential in my workflow.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Looker provides deep dive data on product usage, helping me coach my team effectively and understand customer health. The CSV export feature simplifies data manipulation, enhancing my efficiency.
