Most visualization tools don't charge for underlying queries, but in this case, if you are on a pay-per-go model, then mostly scale becomes a concern while still trying to protect your pocket. There are also a wide variety of third-party connectors available out there, and the vast majority of data warehouses or data-aggregation tools (e.g., Supermetrics, Funnel, etc.) play well with Data Studio. **What do you dislike about Data Studio?** Because this is a free product (I'm not sure if they offer a paid/premium version, but I'm sure they will in the future if they don't already), support is super limited. It also has an incredible amount of features and tools to offer for advanced use cases. I started by connecting Google Sheets data, transitioned into connecting supermetrics, and 7 years later I am still using Google Data Studio, now with big data from a Google Big Query warehouse. I love the fact that it utilizes an open canvas similar to Power Point or Slides. You can move charts, shapes, and images anywhere you want on the pixel level, and rearanged the order they display via send to back or front settings. There is a pretty decent community for support and lots of content to help users get started. **What do you dislike about Data Studio?** Some of the biggest challenges with Data Studio relate to user management/security, embedding options, and issue support. For a long time every user needed to have a gmail to invite them to view a dashboard via login, not sure if that has been improved yet. You can let any user view without logging in, but that is not always recommended due to security reasons. In terms of embedding you can only iframe dashboards. More sophisticated BI tools let you embed elements via API or Javascript. Iframing dashboards also makes drill downs and dashboard to dashboard navigation tricky/near impossible. There is also no ability to contact Google for support when bugs or outages happen. They point everyone to the Data Studio community. There is some ability to get in contact with Google if you have an enterprise level contract with Google Cloud, but the path for support is very ad hoc and not always fuitful. **What problems is Data Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** Democratizing self-service no-code analytics. You do not need to be a data or analytics engineer to get started, and you can go very far based on how intuitive and striaghtforward the UI is. ### 21. They've added new customizations, conditional formatting, new charts, and additional metric/data manipulation abilities. The level of customization is pretty impressive considering it's a free tool. **What do you dislike about Data Studio?** There are some niche limitations that can pose as roadblocks when creating my idea chart or data visualization. For example, you can only add 20 conditional formatting rules to a chart. This may sound like a lot, but considering that you can only apply your conditional formatting to one metric at a time, I have hit the limit several times and had to rework my original vision for a chart design. There are also some finicky features when it comes to resizing, formatting, etc. that lead to frustration. Generally, I've been able to "make it work" and come up with an alternative page/widget layout. **What problems is Data Studio solving and how is that benefiting you?** We want to provide live data performance data to our clients, and Google Data Studio has been a great means to do that.
