I would say having to pay... but that's not even an issue. **Recommendations to others considering Validity Engage:** Use it! You will be amazed at the number of bad email addresses you have in your database. **What problems is Validity Engage solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are a recruiting firm and email candidates regarding employment opportunities. Prior to Bright verify our successful delivery rate was about half what it is now. Our database of candidates is much more valuable since we now know we are able to contact our candidates. ### 2. Please continue to offer that as a service, it's so good. Regarding user experience on the platform, I am only referencing ReturnPath as a point of comparison. The thing I like best is the user interface is quite a bit faster, regarding load-speed than ReturnPath, and ability to visualize data, export, and modify dashboards is simpler and more intuitive. Making the high-level grouping of functionality according to pre-send, in-flight, post-send engagement is helpful as well. **What do you dislike about Validity Engage?** The font is quite small, icons at the bottom of each dashboard element is small and kind of hard to grasp at first. Some data which was in ReturnPath in one place is somehow hidden behind multiple clicks in Everest, which is not really a problem, more of a user education issue. **What problems is Validity Engage solving and how is that benefiting you?** Monitoring our email marketing system. The benefits have been ability to drill down to solve deliverability issues and inbox placement with our underlying systems. Also, with the advent of Apple Privacy Protection, we've been able to monitor the uptake of that with our recipients and adjust accordingly. ### 3. Each module is incredibly in-depth, and once you can get over the learning curve, you will be thankful that you replaced your prior ETL tool. **What do you dislike about Validity Engage?** There are a few ongoing bugs and design choices that their team has made that disrupt my workflow. The scrolling on many menus has velocity incredibly high, so one click of the scroll wheel will scroll past hundreds of fields, making scrolling essentially useless. This scrolling issue is easily the most disruptive "feature" of the software. Furthermore, I've noticed that the filtering when you look through related objects doesn't reset when you reset the filter, which causes some frustration when doing more complex operations. **Recommendations to others considering Validity Engage:** Validity holds webinars regularly. DemandTools is a data-quality power toolset; it de-dupes, finds IDs, mass updates records, and much more, sometimes saving me days of work. I cannot do my job without DemandTools. You can update thousands of records with a push of a button, saving a Salesforce admin valuable time. The return on investment is recognized in how quickly the tool positively impacts data. **What do you dislike about Validity Engage?** The interface hasn't changed much since I began using it 14 years ago. In some ways, that is good, as it is familiar to me. However, the look and feel is a bit outdated, which comes to light when I'm showing new admins how to use it. Small item that is greatly outweighed by all the awesome functionality! **What problems is Validity Engage solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1. In one of my previous positions, we had over 3 million Contacts in our database, and many were duplicates. We used DemandTools to cull that down to 1.5 million contacts in just a few hours 2. Another time, I had created a custom object to store data associated with Accounts. I used DemandTools to locate the matching Accounts (Find/Report IDs), as well as Mass Effect to create the 7500new records in the custom object quickly 3. Currently, we use MassImpact for standardization – for example, we are rolling out State/Country picklists. I am cleaning our current address data using DemandTools so that the effort will not be so great. I always use MassImpact when we have changes that are easier done through writing a formula vs. doing data manipulation in a spreadsheet, where it’s a global replacement. 4. I use Single Table Dedupe regularly to mass merge Accounts, Contacts, and Leads. 5. We use Find/Report IDs when we’re trying to import new data into Salesforce to ensure that we’re not creating duplicates and can update existing records correctly. ### 10. We have a lot of quirkiness to our data and the ability to create scenarios and save them to be used over and over again is such a time saver! I also love that I can do territory assignments so quickly. I use this tool every day. It's so versatile! **What do you dislike about Validity Engage?** Honestly, there isn't anything I dislike about this tool. It has helped me in so many ways. **What problems is Validity Engage solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1. Imports - The Find ID's feature allows me to lookup accounts/contacts/leads, etc., before importing so I don't create duplicates. I would say I use this feature the most. 2. Mass Lead conversion - DemandTools allows me to auto convert Leads that have come into our system where they already exist as contacts. I run this process monthly. Keeps our leads separate from our existing customers. 3. MassImpact - I use this feature to make large-scale changes to a field. Or if I create a new workflow rule in salesforce and need it to run not just going forward but also on existing data. It takes a few minutes to set it up and it's done quickly. 4. Deduping - We all get duplicates in our data and using DemandTools de-duping feature makes getting rid of duplicates so easy. Like I said above, you can set up scenarios based on your specific data and use them over and over again. I run de-duping on our database monthly. 5. I extract data using DemandTools instead of running salesforce reports and exporting. 6. Reassign ownership - In one process, I can reassign accounts/contacts/tasks/events without having to use spreadsheets. 7. ReportEdit - This allows me to see all reports in salesforce and delete unused reports in mass. I run this process quarterly. If you have hundreds of salesforce users, you likely have hundreds of reports that get created once and never get used again. Running this process allows me to clean out those reports and reports owned by people no longer with the company. The nice thing is that it won't allow you to delete reports linked to dashboards so you don't end up getting rid of a report that may not get run but its associated with a dashboard that does get used. ### 19. Best data management tool we've used. **What do you dislike about Validity Engage?** Some queries have limits which on an extremely large database can inhibit sometimes. We'd like the limits to be reviewed and increased if possible. I also love that job metadata can be extracted and committed to a version control system for safekeeping. **What do you dislike about Validity Engage?** The worst part about DemandTools is a current product limitation that regularly produces avoidable errors when merging accounts and contacts. DemandTools forces the "write if blank" behavior when the field on a chosen record is blank, even when the rules for the merge are defined with the intention of keeping the blank value on the chosen record. One very painful way this problem manifests is when State and Country Picklists are enabled in Salesforce. In this case, the dedupe job in DemandTools will fail predictably when trying to merge a record containing a U.S. address having a State/Province value into a master record that has a Singapore address having no State/Province value. **Recommendations to others considering Validity Engage:** Get a trial set up early and run the product multiple times through your expected scenarios, to uncover any unexpected gotchas. Granted there is a lot to it but it seems that could be improved. The cost is high and the vendor doesn't license the Tools separately. I have never used a tool that was so all encompassing with the mass editing/deleting/creating abilities of Demandtools. Once you learn the basics, I think it was pretty easy to use. The tool that saves me the most time is the ID look up. At previous orgs without demand tools, I would have to pull reports for IDs that took for ever to make. Now, I can include data easily laid out in a spreadsheet and Demandtools does the work of matching the IDs to the data. No more annoying/slow SFDC reports and no more janky ID matching fomulas in Excel. **What do you dislike about Validity Engage?** It took some time to learn. As with any mass editing tool, you should be very careful while using it, make sure you understand the Demandtools basics, and practice in a Sandbox. However, for me, this process really sped up once I found their videos on youtube! **Recommendations to others considering Validity Engage:** I learned DemandTools best by using it. So, don't hesitate to mess around with it in a Sandbox to really get a feel for it. **What problems is Validity Engage solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mass merging is a huge one!
