Great hosting experience **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Jennifer S. | Internet Presence Manager, Political Organization, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2016 **What do you like best about Liquid Web?** I've been with Liquid Web/Storm on Demand's managed servers for more than a decade now. I love that their managed servers can be taken care of by them (such as for PHP Updates), but I still have the ability to make changes to the server myself. A lot of servers lock you out of the ability to make changes to things like the blacklist, other security settings, PHP settings, etc. Their servers are easy to optimize for Drupal and CiviCRM, which makes it a first choice for me when it comes to hosting. **What do you dislike about Liquid Web?** Sometimes if you are on a problem server (such as one where a hard drive is starting to go out, but not throwing warnings yet), it can be difficult to move. **Recommendations to others considering Liquid Web:** I'd highly recommend one of their managed servers. They're great for CMS setups and are easy to upgrade when you need more space or memory. **What problems is Liquid Web solving and how is that benefiting you?** With this we were able to set up a server where we could have many installations of Drupal and CiviCRM without it impacting the performance of each site. This allows us to offer low priced hosting to our clients as well as a cheap place for us to use for our "sandbox". ### 2. Almost everyone I've spoken too on their team is knowledgeable and helpful. Their hold times are incredibly short. I've rarely had to wait more than a minute to get someone on the phone, and most of the time they pick up before I even go to hold. I've even had members of their support team take the time to show me what they are doing with a shared shell screen or walk me through what they are doing. **What do you dislike about Liquid Web?** Every once in a while I find an issue that's specialized enough that they cannot help me, but they can't specialize in everything. They are so good overall, that I can't even call this a complaint. **Recommendations to others considering Liquid Web:** Do make sure that you know your needs. If in doubt, start low and upgrade later as needed. **What problems is Liquid Web solving and how is that benefiting you?** Offloading site support and gaining lots of additional expertise and reliability. Reasonable pricing saves money over similar services. ### 3. Management of my account, WHM, cPanel, etc has been a breeze. The BEST feature is their outstanding support. Not only can I jump on an chat and get someone within a minute, but the support techs are very knowledgeable and friendly and have always been able to resolve my issue. One of the reasons I left a shared hosting environment is that most these popular hosting companies support staff doesn't even understand what advice they are giving. I felt I knew more than they so how would they be able to help? LW support techs are awesome and super knowledgeable. **What do you dislike about Liquid Web?** I'm still in the honeymoon phase so, I really haven't found anything I dislike other than the upgraded price tag (vs shared hosting). ### 4. They'll provide best effort support on just about anything, which is a real life saver. They're basically a much more affordable rackspace, but still with great service. You're paying for the support. Servers you can get anywhere, but LW has great support. They also own the data centers they are in and have great reliability. **What do you dislike about Liquid Web?** Sometimes you get a newer support rep, but not often. The newer guys are still good, but it used to be that every answer was from someone who was a wizard. Now you get slightly above average half the time and great the other half of the time. Never support that would be anything to complain about. They've grown a ton which contributed a bit to that. It's gotten a lot better again recently. **Recommendations to others considering Liquid Web:** Liquid Web is a great company to go with if you're looking for this type of product.
