Although it is primarily for surveys, I've found it can also be used in place of online quiz-taking software for pairing with in-house training materials. There is a lack of control over some of the automatic emails to survey takers, which can affect the user experience. This is mainly a problem when I use it for registration forms or training quizzes. Also, some ease-of-use features are only available to paying clients; since we use the self-hosted community edition, updates are more difficult. The ability to customize practically anything within the survey is what separates Limesurvey from some of the other survey softwares out there (Google, SurveyMonkey, etc.). It does take quite a long time to learn many of the features of Limesurvey (there are A LOT). But once you do, it's a fantastic tool. It is an open-source software. So it's free, but that means you also don't get a support team. HOWEVER, there are forums, bug reports, and a whole LimeSurvey community that is mostly very willing and able to help.
