I like Lilt.com because it is simple to use, it's a very light platform that can be used from any computer, being a new one or and old one, I can still work, and doesn't require high speed internet. Also projects can be uploaded and checked very fast. When I start the translation, Lilt helps me adding the words I need and then I confirm, besides that, Lilt memorizes the previous translations and brings them back to future files so the translation is much easier the second time. It is easy to log in, and regarding the files, they can be separated into documents, which Lilt indicates the percentage of completion of the project, including words, lists, and segments confirmed, as well as the segments not confirmed. Sometimes the automatic translation isn't accurate, and the words are put there without permission, making it confusing for the human translator, having to delete them and start all over the completion of the translation box. Another thing I might dislike is that pages go back and forth sometimes without permission, making it difficult to know what I am working on and having to go back to the current page I am working in. Also, sometimes, when I upload a document, words are mixed and crashed by the time they are available for translation. In conclusion, just a couple of details I might dislike. The team helps with the localisation of design templates not only thru translation but also with transcreation. They are also helping us with metadata translation like design titles and keywords. This is quite tricky to address as it involves SEO optimization. This will, at times, result in a polluted translation memory, but they are able to handle it well.
Our initial goal was to be able to localise the entirety of our English templates library. This goal changed eventually but Lilt was able to cope with the changes with little to no hiccups. This is very important to us as the volume of content that we send out for localisation varies depending on the monthly campaigns that the company is running. The way they are handling our project and their efforts in conforming with our needs is something that I really like about Lilt.
The project manager assigned to us is very enthusiastic about her work and not only helps us manage the deliverables but also helps with making sure that translation quality issues are being addressed on a timely manner. We set up regular cadences to discuss pressing matters and what I like about it the most is that we do not stretch out the time; as soon as discussions are done, we end the meeting even if there are still some few minutes left on what was booked. Efficiency at its finest. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lilt assisted with the translation of thousands of in-product assets and content across 30 languages. This involved not only the translation itself, but the preparation of quality specifications, facilitating the packaging and delivery process, and developing a language-quality review workflow. Lilt offers a competitive translation rate and is capable of large-scale projects, while maintaining a commitment to customer service. Though quality wasn't as high as initially expected, Lilt recognised this and was able to take action towards improving the quality, including committing to an updated quality SLA to ensure they would deliver. As this translation software is cloud based, I can work from any of my devices, without having to send documents from one to the other. The website runs smoothly, even when the internet connection is slow. Their automated translation is reasonably good and it improves as you introduce translations in your translation memory. I am a little concerned about privacy and intellectual property. I am not sure what they do with the documents one uploads to the platform, so I would avoid using it if you are working with confidential material. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nice interface. Good functions including Find & Replace, term search, concordance, progress bar, etc. Pretty much everything a translator like myself would ask for, without the need of installation! The online support is very responsive and helpful too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometime the productivity data (i.e. words translated per hour) shown is far from accurate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When it works, it works astoundingly well. Even with more complex texts, Lilt delivers at a surprising pace :-) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It seems that there are currently some things to solve with the software. Suggestions are so slow that many times I type the translation out without waiting for the suggestion... which kind of defies the purpose. When doing the QA after having translated the file, it can be slow going if the file is big (as is often the case). Lastly, Lilt still have some way to go in sorting the tags. It's fiddly and when I move to the next page, the tags sometimes have disappeared, whereupon I have to exit the file and enter again for them to show up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I am in the pleasant position to being able to write on Lilt: Lilt is a relatively new online adaptive platform, where all kinds of translations are dealt! I like mostly the system of Machine Translation, as software of exclusively Lilt, and not copied from anyone else. The level of quality of this software of M.T of Lilt is on their own, and it's very high. Thus, you feel always comfortable and it's easy to use, not having to correct many things. Thus it makes an easy going platform to work with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There's actually nothing to dislike: Only good impression from first time. First of all, they have a good well structured system to apply as translator, by specifying language pair, all personal details of course and a space to put your CV.
The structure of site is good, well organized and does not create confusion! Lilt gives many ways and many opportunities online for self development, progress and creation of translations, apart from the stardard projects given by Clients for which translator is paid. You can also choose to create your own projects on platform, and seize your abilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the predictive text more than anything. It saves a huge amount of time and combined with the great hot key system it means I translate a lot more work in the same amount of hours. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes the dictionary/term search is a bit poor. I find myself going to proz.com and using their term search instead. They compile the term search from professional translators contributions and they stay there for a long time. They also break down terms by category (eg. legal, business, marketing, medical, etc. ) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I first started using Lilt in 2016, when my language pair (EN-PTBr) became available, and it has been my CAT tool of choice since then. I'm not a very tech-savvy person so the simplified user interface and usability were a big drawn to me since the beginning (I also love the purple pallet of colors but I guess that's not a objective reason to like a tool hahaha). I have recommended it to many novice translators who are now starting to use CAT tools because of how easy it is to use and because of all the videos and tutorials available. Beyond the user-friendly aspect, because I've been using it since its beginning, I can also attest on how much the tool improved in just 3 years. The suggestions are faster and more accurate, (especially regarding the differences of PT-Pt and PT-Br), it's possible to handle really big files (I've used it for files near half million words) and my productivity increase a lot with continuous use. It's also great to review and assign files. And I know I don't even use some other features yet! All in all, a great tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Three things:
1) the tags that move around after you've placed and saved them. It's really annoying to have to review for the 3rd or 4th time the entire document just to make sure the tags are all correctly placed and saved. This wastes most of the time that Lilt has helped us save during the translation step.
2) the fact that it's not available for individual users anymore... I have recommended it to many novice translators because of how easy and reliable it is, but now, if you don't translate over 250k words a year, you can't have Lilt... That's a mark that I have just recently reached but fortunately, I had my Lilt account from 2016 and could still use it. Not allowing other translators access to Lilt (even with paid subscriptions!) feels unfair.
3) other language pairs I work with, such as ES-PT or FR-PT, are not available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lilt looks pretty and modern, very much on par with every good product that comes from Silicon Valley nowadays. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
A few months ago the backend was slow and oftentimes choked on larger files, but that issue has been addressed and the MT engine is working pretty smoothly now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that Lilt gives good suggestions that bacome better as we translate. I like the fact that Lilt is a very easy tool and has simple shortcuts which allows to make a quicker work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I sinscerely did not find any caracteristic that I would say I disliked. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lilt has this addictive thing of racing against myself to work better and faster, always trying to beat my best work per hour ratio. I love it. It's great to have all the tools I need in the same window. If you really like speed you must learn those hotkeys! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes it's slow on the refresh and feels clunky. I wish the lexicon suggestion came from a global translation memory, not just from my past, sort of like Linguee. Titles, when they're in all-caps don't get translated or translate weird. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If I don't like the suggestions, I show it how I want it to translate something--and then it learns from me and does it my way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It sometimes seems to get hung up, and not do anything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Working with Lilt helped me improve my efficiency at the translation stage. The system is very clear and easy to use. Plus, it learns on the go, so it gives better suggestions the more I use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not every file type is supported which creates the need to convert some files I wish to translate with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We don't lose time anymore. It is really important to a translator. You don't need to look for hours for vocabulary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It could maybe a little faster and it would be really perfect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I hesitate between praising the accuracy of Lilt's proposed translations, even for technical texts such as those I normally deal with, or the excellent, super-rapid response of their ever-so-kind customer service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Anything I dislike has been taken care of within a very reasonable time frame, keeping me appraised of the progress, so by now I find it hard to find anything to say here, really. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
