## Lightspeed Retail Reviews
  ### 1. Finally a POS that is easy to set up nd easy to work with!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Line D. | Founder and Owner, Retail, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

LS is easy to set up and offers several valuable features such as employee time management. inventory management with integrates with LS Ecom, our online webstore, great detailed reports and amazing customer support.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Some days the system is slow BUT LS always sends accurate updates so we always know what is going on. Customer service is perfect!

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

We absolutely recommend this POS system and it keeps on getting better!

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We finally have one inventory for both our retail and online store. This saves so much tome and worries!
Also, newer loyalty programs such as Thirdshelf can easily be integrated in LS which we love!

  ### 2. VEND is very customizable and perfect for retail environments.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelli L. | Co-Founder | Web Dev | Clothing/ Web Designer, Apparel & Fashion, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

VEND allows you to set up your POS system with ease, it is a cloud based service so you can refresh the tab and open a new tab in your web browser without losing any information. They're system is very user friendly and very able to customize.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

I do not have any dislikes about VEND, they have great customer service and a referral program and update their product.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

USE IT

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We built our POS system, switched from quickbooks over to VEND because quickbooks was too limiting and VEND allowed us to have a fully customized and integrated system that integrates with mailchimp, our mailing list, our credit card processing, our iPads and much more.

  ### 3. Extremely glitchy system. Does not work as promised

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madhvi P. | Program Chair - Educate to Empower, Non-Profit Organization Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Has some nice features. Calculates margins automatically. Automates a lot of functions for retail. supposedly integrates with e-commerce but in reality is very counter intuitive

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Extremely glitchy. Have not been able to process transactions without some glitch or the other. Constantly hangs during a CC payment. Although the system has a lot of features, it is not user friendly. Why are buttons presented when you cant use them ? My main complain is how glitchy it is. Hangs in the middle of a sale. Terrible for a small business

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Wait till they've ironed out their glitches. It's not a mature product. And although they have 24x7 support, their staff cannot handle complex issues

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Small retail business with loca POS system plus e-commerce. Lightspeed was supposed to give me all these features along with CC processing. So far no benefits. Wish I had selected a different system

  ### 4. Ease of use & training for staff, great reporting

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julia H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Easy to use interface for simple transactions and quick training of staff.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Wish we could customize our own sort/filter on inventory searches or show custom-added fields to our inventory page. Would like it to be a little more seamless in creating/building our eCommerce site

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

simple interface makes it very easy for staff to use, regardless of their tech-savviness. Rich reporting tools for sales and inventory analysis is excellent as well.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to effectively track inventory and see sales history, etc, vs a regular manual cash register. Being able to remotely login and see inventory when at trade/buying shows is very helpful as well.

  ### 5. Very simple to use and makes the process go quick

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alina K. | Manager, Retail, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

How simple the program is and how easy it is to manage inventory

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

There are a few features that are complex but over time I’m sure will be okay to figure out

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping speed up the process of checking customers out and keeping track of inventory

  ### 6. Nice, but over priced with poor customer service

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

The interface is intuitive. Online access is is very convenient. The number and structure of reports is impressive.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

It is only a bit better than Quickbooks POS and Vend, but significantly more expensive. The customer service is very poor. Most importantly the sales team over promises, which means this good software system, under-delivers. You have to also keep in mind, since this is internet based, if the internet is out, you are writing down credit cards and receipts.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Get everything your sales person says committed to in writing. Double and triple check your equipment works with Lightspeed (your sales person is not the one to check with). Expect import issues if importing inventory records from Quickbooks (this is unacceptable, but expect it).

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

POS for a retail

  ### 7. Lightspeed and Its Capabilities

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harrison W. | Sales Associate, Furniture, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Lightspeed is quite a powerful program in my opinion. The functionality of it is quite impressive. My work doesn’t even utilize probably 30-40% of its true capability, and it supports a $9 Million Business.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

I wish that certain features were available. For example, when transferring items from different warehouses, it’d be nice if on the product card, you could leave notes for specific items, and why you’ve moved them to a particular warehouse. So we deal in furniture, and we have a “New Damages” Warehouse where we house damaged items. Not all damage is immediately obvious, so it’d be nice to be able to leave notes in a sort of temporary file saying why it was transferred there—differently from an SRO. I also wish you could search payment amounts under the “modified today” search criteria.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

So long as you connect the program to your payment terminal and are able to track payments that way, there are really no complaints.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to lookup products, customers, or orders very easily through multiple criteria. The ability to link orders, SRO’s and quotes makes it nice and easy to communicate situations with the rest of the team.

  ### 8. Lightspeeding Away from this POS

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Lightspeed retail does allow for good management of data and storage of data but it feels dated and confusing. Honestly there isn’t much I like about it unfortunately! It seems to be one of the worst POS systems I’ve used. Lightspeed

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

The lightspeed retail system isn’t inherently natural to use. Things can’t be copy and pasted easily to spreadsheets and it is very difficult to export data! Terrible for making spreadsheets for making customer calls. The font is also super tiny. Also it is a program that has to be installed on every computer which is a hassle. Seems to be more trouble than it is worth overall.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Take a long time to learn it and don’t expect good tech support from the platform !

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to store notes about customer preferences which is helpful for when a client comes back, saves me from having to remember each detail exactly. Very helpful in staying organized and tracking purchases by brand or by person.

  ### 9. Simple to use but actually quite capable POS solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sander K. | Owner, Consumer Goods, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

I like the inventory management integration and the flexibility with payment methods. It also works well on both a PC/web and on iPad, which allows us to travel with our POS system easily.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

The register does integrate with our website for inventory management through a 3rd party service, but it doesn't prevent us from accidentally overselling an item.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

If you need to have many products/SKUs or have more than one register (location) than Vend is highly capable for this purpose.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Multi-outlet inventory management and syncing.

  ### 10. Fantastic POS - Local and Great Customer Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

The interface is super user friendly and customizable. The pricing is competitive and the customer service is great. The company does a lot for Montreal and contributes back to the community extensively. I always enjoy giving business to a company that is invested in its customers, its neighbourhood, it employees and its community.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

As a Canadian company, it's unfortunate and frustrating that US users actually have more options to customize and integrate the POS with other services. That said, Lightspeed is trying and leading the sector in getting new technologies on board.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were building a community bike shop and needed Lightspeed to take care of common retail concerns like inventory, sales, returns, employee time-logins etc. but we also had unique needs like memberships. Because of the customizeability of the POS, this was totally possible

  ### 11. Game changer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

I first was hesitant when we switched to Lightspeed, I knew the internet was not always reliable at my job so having everything in the cloud was nerve racking. But the customer support and willingness to adapt to its customers needs was amazing. Its real time inventory was also amazing. No longer having to waste time calling separate locations to confirm stock.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Cloud only module. I would have appreciated an emergency offline module.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Real time inventory for multiple locations great

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Real time stock

  ### 12. Works Well

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

It’s a fast and easy system to use without having a downloadable program.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Has some glitches and some features that should be more accessible, especially when it comes to payments.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A company-wide POS that allows inventory checking across the company.

  ### 13. Very good system, does crash due to traffic sometimes

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda S. | Self Employed, Luxury Goods & Jewelry, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

This system is very efficient, you are able to live search inventory, take and check in purchase orders, the pos is very fast and efficient which smart reads cards. Purchases were very quick to check out. Learning how to use this system was fairly simple. Being able to see reports quickly and compare our current days sales to those in the previous years was very helpful in our ability to reach sales goals.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

When the system would hit peak operating hours it was not unlikely for the system to shut down completely and not be able to process sales. Customer service was fairly helpful though it often times did not fi the problem for some time, at which point the store could not function and we had to only take cash sales which we processed on paper and a calculator.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Be prepared to spend some time on the phone with customer service during peak hours of business.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to log on to the system on multiple computers did solve an issue we had previously with big sale nights, this way we could look up inventory and check out customers on multiple computers, increasing efficiency. Often times I would check when we needed to put out new inventory from back stock by searching items in our inventory, it was also easy to conduct inventory lists for when we needed to do that at the end of the year.

  ### 14. Lightspeed Retail is awesome!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kaitlin O. | Nonprofit Theatre/Arts Development Consultant, Performing Arts, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

I love how user-friendly and intuitive Lightspeed is. Their support center and team is great, too. It is just so simple to use; I wish more POS systems were like Lightspeed. I love all of the features it offers and am always learning more ways to make the POS work better for us on a day-to-day basis,

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

I really don't dislike anything about it! It is just right. I guess sometimes the more advanced settings can seem complicated, but it is very easy to learn and teach yourself how to use the system. and Even when you did need help, the customer service center is great, and there is not usually a long wait to speak with someone on the phone about issues to may experience.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Make sure you know how to take advantage of all the wonderful benefits of Lightspeed; I am still learning how to use more of the advanced setting, but I know there is a lot to offer and it can make your life a lot easier and business run much more smoothly if you know how to use Lightspeed to the best of its ability.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Lightspeed we are successfully able to run multiple shops at once and solve problems quickly, such as with Inventory or Customer Database. Benefits include ease of use and quick turnover for customer service and making transfers between stores. It also integrates with our credit card machine, which is great.

  ### 15. Lightspeed does not put their customers first

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brett T. | Owner, Automotive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

It looks good and many of the features are quite good. But they don't really care about their customers needs, and do not respond in anything close to an acceptable amount of time to bugs and problems.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Our bike shop has been using Lightspeed for 5 years now, first with their Mac based software, and then with their cloud based software (Lightspeed Retail). There are many great things about the software, but on the whole I would not recommend a small business owner to hitch their cart to this company. There are significant bugs, inventory control is a disaster, but worst of all, fundamentally Lightspeed does not care about their customers. What Lightspeed cares about is their roadmap which in most cases doesn't deal with fundemental issues that their customers have been bringing up for years - if you have any doubt on this, look at their "ideas" page where top voted on features and requests have sat dormant for years.

My frustration has boiled over due to an issue with the way their inventory system works, and the way their customer service team has responded to my pleading that they at least give me an ETA on a fix. Here's the backstory: Lightspeed does a very peculiar thing which is that it will auto-add inventory if a product is sold but does not exist in inventory. Not only this, but Lightspeed will auto-check-in inventory off of POs if a product is sold. Now this in and of itself is a disaster as far as accountability is concerned: how is one supposed to track POs when product mysteriously gets checked in! But the worst part is that there is a bug in their system which will auto-check-in product off of POs if product is put into a work order. Doesn't matter if said product is sold or not, it will check-in the product regardless, causing a nightmare scenario where we are trying to figure out what POs have truly been received, and which POs Lightspeed has decided to receive automatically. I brought this issue up for the first time around 6 months ago, and never got any solid response on a fix. I contacted support in April again. After a lot of back and forth about whether this was a real problem (like I love spending time contacting support) the support tech Derrick agreed that this was an issue. I asked for an ETA. No ETA was available. I followed up a month later in May. Still no ETA, but Derrick assured me this was a priority, but also assured my significant problem that is causing myself and my staff time and frustration and vigilance and additional systems and workflows to remedy is "an extreme edge case scenario so I'm curious about how it could be causing you significant workflow issues."So now we are in July. This supposedly "high priority" "extreme edge case" bug is still not fixed. No ETA. No communication. Since we started experiencing this issue Lightspeed has stuck an e-commerce link in the middle of the navigation bar and continued to work on integrating their e-commerece into every other cranny of the software, even if you don't use their e-commerce. They've added a new feature called Analytics which costs additional monthly fees. Their API is still slow and unsupported. Their App marketplace is effectively a Potemkin village of fake apps with no real syncing with the silo that is Lightspeed. The promises of a cloud based POS are so great, but Lightspeed does not deliver. If you are looking to invest time and energy in a retail POS platform, I would strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. Lightspeed looks very slick on the surface, and it is quite good in many ways, but the underlying company culture does not put their customers first.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Look at other product. Everything looks good from the outside, but they are extremely unresponsive and are focused on meeting their business objectives around integrating e-commerce rather than making their software work well for the existing customers.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retail management software for our bicycle business.

  ### 16. Lightspeed review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Clean interface, easily customizable, easy to teach staff. Lightspeed makes it easy to manage inventory and sales.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Limited reporting with limited customizations on the reports. Lack of added decimals in costs does not allow you to split pennies, making it a balancing act to receive orders with odd costs.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Take lightspeed for a test drive and see what you really need in a POS system.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed a more modern POS system with a more efficient user experience. I was able to train staff faster and create inventory with more details information, creating a better customer experience.

  ### 17. Easy to use, straightforward

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Individual & Family Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Vend makes it easy to inventory items and keep everything organized.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

I wish there was a way to keep some default settings when entering a bunch of inventory items at once. For example mark up amount etc.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inventory, loyalty program

  ### 18. Cycling Small Business POS with lots of potential

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phillip Z. | Marketing and Operations Manager, Sporting Goods, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2016

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

- I do like the catalog integration to my major distributors and suppliers.
- I like the label output capability.
- I like the integration to mail Chimp.
- I like the great responsiveness of the phone based technical support staff.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

- Long hold times on phone for tech support staff.
- Poorly thought out process of incorporating incremental updates and Feature input.
- Lack of customization.
- Online dependency which cripples my business to a deathly standstill. Especially when there is an internal LightSpeed problem.
- Difficulty in search. It cannot easily manage serial numbers of customer personal property

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

-It is worth calling technical support to help get your system and your own education level up on what is happening behind the scenes. Very proficient.
-Continue to iterate that they should listen to the customer conversation recommendations for upgrades and not rely on us to create upgrade written content on their forum.
-Investigate the extra features which are tailored specific to your industry as they can save you immense time after investing into the setup and education.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Work flow process around service and customer personal property.
- Sales of retail items
- Inventory management
- Sales tax reports
- Individual product sales reports and statistics for purchasing decisions
- Employee time clock and hours calculations for pay roll

  ### 19. Reliable POS system for tablet

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cassidy M. | Childcare Worker, Religious Institutions, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Straight forward and easy to use. Extremely user friendly. I like the ability to do all the backend stuff in one place. Made doing inventory very easy too.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Using separate pin pad for transactions, many times we could not get a separate pin pad to stay connected in the system. Would have to do a hard reboot every time.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It eliminated the need for multiple systems to set up a register/POS. We just used the ipad to input all the inventory and used the ipad as our “register”.

  ### 20. Solid product for Precision Bikes

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

The ease of use is by far the best thing about Litespeed. Within 10 minutes you can learn the process.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

No cons here, never had a issue. From day one nothing but a solid performance.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving keeping up with jobs and dates and serial numbers on past work orders. Benefits are the amounts of information that i receive from daily use.

  ### 21. Lightspeed Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Lightspeed is user friendly and allows transactions to be done effectively.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

It is often difficult to find different products when checking out a customer. It crashes frequently

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It manages inventory effectively and makes transactions very easy.

  ### 22. Core component of a POS system does not work

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** CHRISTOPHER J. | FOUNDER & CEO, Business Supplies and Equipment, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Continued evolution and new features being added. Customer service can be good if you hang up on the new people and keep calling until you get someone that is knowledgeable.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Missing a core element of a POS that they refuse to fix while they continue to add new features. They need to focus on the core. Any retail environment that orders products by the case for any reason will be fed up with this system. The case item when broken down into singles do not communicate with each other for re-ordering. So if you set a level of singles say at 6 you would like the system to trigger an order of 1 case, it will not work. Huge inventory and ordering issues because of this. D- rating with BBB and not even accredited.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We solved our day to day retail across 3 locations.

  ### 23. Not The easiest POS system I’ve used

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Clicking on pictures makes it easy when you don’t have a lot of products.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

When you have a lot of products you need to either search manually or swipe through pages of items. The hardware is stupid expensive too.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secure POS system that has time keeping.

  ### 24. MerchantOS Lightspeed Retail Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

We use Lightspeed Retail as our sole operating system. We are able to track inventory, manage payment options, and keep track of employee hours. Very easy to onboard new employees with as well.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

We had trouble syncing our inventory with Shopify so that our online store would be updated in real time. Unfortunately to do so we would have to increase our budget for the software which we were unable to do.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Start tracking inventory in the system right away to get the best value out of the product.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is where we manage all of our commerce, track employee hours and track inventory. Most importantly this software operates as our register for the shop.

  ### 25. lightspeed is wonky

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

it has a great variety of features and functionalities

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

constant glitches and wonkiness for the most basic of operations especially logging in to check someone out. In retail, clients do not want to wait for the salesperson to deal with software glitches when being rung up- speed is of the essence.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

know that glitches happen often, slowing transactions and causing frustrations for employees and clients alike.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lightspeed allows for all sorts of retail transactions, and does offer an api for things like loyalty programs. Using lightspeed helps to manage inventory et.

  ### 26. Great POS System

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Lightspeed is a great POS system that can be used for both online and in-store retail. The software is easy to learn, easy to use, and has excellent support. The inventory management is better than other eCommerce software I've used - you can control your inventory using POs, create SKUs, manage product assets and copywriting, and see where your inventory stands in just a few clicks. The omnichannel retail features are nice in an ever-changing economy that depends on different types of technology for purchasing. The reporting and analytics are simple to navigate and read.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Occasionally, the inventory can go haywire when you have a large number of SKUs. I've had problems with missing and extra inventory - we think the eCommerce store played a part in this.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

I recommend Lightspeed, as it is always improving. I used the software as a download, as well as in the cloud. The cloud is much different than the older downloaded version, but much more efficient, since you can access it using your phone or tablet, anywhere. I've never needed to pay for it as I have not owned a store using it, but I'd say it's worth the expense no matter what size the company.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's an efficient all-in-one omnichannel software. You can run your web store and brick-and-mortar on the same software.

  ### 27. Lightspeed experience

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Ability to open multiple windows at once, quick responding system

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

With new update, no room rate verification ability

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

I do prefer Lightspeed over other operating systems such as PMS Opera

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

room blocking, reconciliation

  ### 28. Lightspeed eCom - An evolved and expensive scam

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yan V. | Gestionnaire de projets, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

It integrates (badly) with Lightspeed Retail, that's not really a positive.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

As a software engineer, I’ve had to install, customize, create and use dozens of e-commerce platforms and within those, Lightspeed is by far the worst e-commerce platform I have ever used. It is full of major bugs and lacks features that even the most basic and cheap e-commerce solutions have. Reported (major) bugs take more than 6 months to even get looked at, and that is if they ever decide to fix them.

Every month, they keep promising updates and fix that never happen, or even worse, they tell you that bugs are fixed when they are not. Our eCom is still not live after almost a full year of paying for it.

Lightspeed eCom is a very expensive scam, I recommend you stay away from it.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Never sign up with Lightspeed. They will promise you the world and they proceed to crush on your business with their incomplete and unpolished products.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unless you consider heading straight to bankruptcy is some form of problem solving, none.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cheyne C. | General Manager, Sports, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

The best is the clean design, and easy to train staff up on

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

If you have over a couple hundred thousand items it runs really slow... also the reports are not very in depth when looking at lots of data

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Go with lightspeed retail... they’re putting on their r and d into that

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Good for day to day sales and inventory management for a limited amount of skus

  ### 30. Terrible - False Promisews

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

It’s basically a glorified cash register that allows you to use a scanner and look fancy while checking people out.

They have many known bugs with the product that they are unwilling to fix. We have contacted them and on every occasion, we get the run around about contacting the development team to address the issue or trying to solve it with some sort of work around. We don't need work arounds for issues that should and do function on many other POS systems. Limited Hardware options that integrate and limited when choosing payment processors.

Customer service is of no help. Say they will contact development team regarding your problem and nothing gets accomplished.

  ### 31. Maximize Profits. Sleep with Peace of Mind. Gain Efficiency.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Recreational Facilities and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

We love the ability to manage our service queue in Lightspeed. We're a small bicycle shop and Lightspeed has helped to increase our organization, profitability, customer service and overall sanity!

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

We wish that you could disassociate special orders from a work order that have been added to a work order afterwards but still have them tied to a customer.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Special ordering and inventory management are a breeze. With work orders, every staff member can have ownership over a ticket.

I liked the ease of the sale window and the features like the shortcut buttons that can be used and color coded.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

We were not able to do a whole inventory count very easily when using vend.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

I would recommend vend to anyone in retail looking to update their POS. It is easy to use.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An easy checkout experience for both customer and cashier

  ### 33. Very Pleased with Trying a New POS System!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Ease of use; training was simplistic and staff really like the inventory functions!

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Not able to take an old school process and make it happen in the new one; growth is good though, right?!

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

You will be presently surprised with how easy Vend is to impliment; I recommend training a super user and then rolling out one location at a time to work out all the bugs. We started at our busiest location to be certain anything that could possibly pop up as an obstacle, would; nothing huge occured (which was amazing!).

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy inventory counts; accurate on hand numbers and they communicate with our on-line Shopify store!

  ### 34. Superb software, incredibly easy to use.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason W. | Manager, Retail, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

The fact that it's easy to use and can be picked up really quickly. It's very important for new starters in a company to be able to understand the POS software without any issues, Vend makes this possible.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

The ability to add standard widgets would be a plus.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Perfect for new starters as the software is very easy to get used to.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to track sales of items in order to maximise profit. I was able to access Vend from my home PC in order to rectify issues and queries set by new members of staff. Stocktaking was also much simpler using Vend on my mobile phone.

  ### 35. Lightspeed POS

User friendly. Simplicity for training purposes.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

It only works for our store merchandise.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At the moment just the fact that it is quick to train new users. It accomodates all store merch. Boat rentals and activity rentals.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Great design. I love how easy it is to use!

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

I dislike how it doesn’t have a way to automatically ring up promotions we are currently running.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it allows us to stay connected with all retail locations.

  ### 37. Very easy to use and very versatile

Keep buttons simple. Don't overthink reports

Ease of sales

  ### 38. We switched from old school Quickbooks Basic Point of Sale 10 to Lightspeed Retail eCom Omnichannel

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy R. | Owner/CFO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

The Bling Box switched to Lightspeed Retail and eCom Omnichannel on 10/1/16 after being with Quickbooks POS Basic 10 for 5 years and Big Commerce Web Platforms for 4 years. Of course, I was nervous about switching, but I knew our company had outgrown the capabilities of our current Point of Sale System and we were having too many mistakes with inventory trying to manually keep the counts straight with the online orders. I wanted software that would pull in my online sales and place them in my main database. Lightspeed does that. I wanted a fresh, new, high tech website and Lightspeed eCom had so many templates to choose from, so we went with a Visual Theme (Lots of large photo grids). I wanted to be able to access everything remotely anytime I wanted and Lightspeed does that. My wife and I entered thousands of dollars of jewelry from our hotel room in Dallas one night from a Dallas Market 3 Day Stay all remotely... using iPhones and access to our Lightspeed Account. We were selling the jewelry we just bought that day, from the hotel room, days before we even made it back to our store, because Lightspeed allowed us to do everything we would do in the store. It was Awesome! I wanted software that when we received shipments, we could put them in stock fast, upload a photo and make them live in the online store quick, then release the hyperlink to that item online with our facebook acount... Lightspeed does that! We exported and imported in about 5000 customers and over 12,000 inventory items when we switched over... Was everything perfect... No, of course not... if you go in to a switch like this with that kind of expectation... your expectations are not aligned with reality. They have great Retail and eCom Tech Support... and believe me, my wife and I called them a lot, and they were really helpful every single time. We are very good at what we do selling clothes, shoes and jewelry, but we have zero experience building websites, so we used their tech support a lot in the beginning because I didn't have time to try and figure it out, I wanted assistance every step of the way and I got it! Their software is getting smarter by the day. They are always updating and releasing patches. I notice great changes weekly and it's amazing to see what this software has done for our company already. Our online sales are easily 5 times higher using Lightspeed eCom Omnichannel compared to our last website which was just a stand alone site... it didn't communicate with our inventory database at all, we had to do manual inventory adjustments all the time.... and that's where mistakes were made. From other reviews I've read, Lightspeed has really improved over the years. I can understand the concerns from the past, but for our company, Lightspeed has been a blessing and we are very excited about expanding our Lightspeed Computers and Registers. We use an iMac and an iPad Register set up and it is Awesome! The Faster your internet and the Faster your computer... the Faster Lightspeed will be for you... ours is blazing fast. We have a brand new iMac and 100 meg internet,... so it takes about 1 second to do a Credit Card Transaction ( We use Cayan ) and we email out receipts like crazy! It is a perfect fit for our business model. I did about 6 months of research before making the switch, and yes, there were other companies offering very similar platforms... but something kept bringing me back to Lightspeed. I love that it runs on both Windows and Macs.... allowing me to buy fast macs and run my company the way I know it needs to run, super fast and efficient. They helped me set up my printer, label maker, bluetooth upc scanner, old school hard wired scanner and taught me how to ring up layaways and do deposits... you name it. Just keep in mind, this software is so packed with features, that it will take you time to get good at it... so don't expect to be a Pro in the first month! Call Support and they will help you! Yes, they are busy, they are an expanding company... don't you want to be one too! No company is perfect, including mine... so Lightspeed may have had rough times in the past, but we went live on 10/1/16 and have never looked back and continue to have record breaking months, over and over, even during our slow times because our online store picks up the slack from the retail store. Something else to consider... are you highly motivated to learn all the features and sync them up and push them out to Facebook and Instagram like we do? We do work hard, 7 days a week, but we love what we do and our company is growing for many reasons, and Lightspeed Retail + their eCom Omnichannel Package is a big part of that! Make this your best year yet!

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

I wish I had more time to really dig deeper into all the cool features that I'm probably not using yet!

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Don't expect to learn all the hundreds of features in the first month. The software is amazing and gets better every month!

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We 'used to have" lots of inventory discrepancies with our old setup because online sales were manually adjusted in the Old Point of Sale System and vice versa with the OLD Online Store before we had Lightspeed! Now it's all seamless!

  ### 39. Very easy to use, simple design

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

I like how easy to use Lightspeed is. My first day using it, I didn't need anyone to coach me through anything - it's all very straightforward. There are no unnecessary steps for transactions, making it efficient. I like that transactions can be put on hold so that you can start and stop a transaction to complete later.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

You have to exit out of the transaction window to return to storemaster (at least the way ours is set up). The only thing I initially found to be tricky was manually entering in card info.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to use on the computer and ipad across the store. Because it's so user-friendly, minimal training time is needed on how to use the POS.

  ### 40. Excellent POS for Retail

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alyssa P. | Sales, Marketing & Social Media , Retail, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

The layout is so simple and it is easy to use. The system has very good stock control and reporting capabilities. Also, if I ever needed any help or needed to know anything, the VEND team were very quick to respond with excellent customer service.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

When I first started the signing up process - I did receive an overload of marketing and 'help' emails, which I thought was a bit excessive. I did end up needing help at one point but I contacted them directly - I didn't read most of the emails sent to me at this time as it was an overload of repeated information.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

I highly recommend using VEND for your Point of Sales System. It's excellent with stock control and there are many different reports (and filtering through the reports) made it easy to pull the information I needed from the system. The front end design, is very easy to work with and it is a basic layout - anyone should be able to use this with ease.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being a new retail business - one of our main concerns were being able to have accurate stock control and reporting. Using the VEND POS, and with the help of the VEND team, we found the right reporting tools to fit our needs.

  ### 41. Not well supported

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

The variety of options you can use for your inventory and pos

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

They have terrible customer service. Also they do not support it much. Whenever there is a iOS update it takes them forever to update and it runs slow in the meantime. Also they consistently raise the monthly price for it .

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Buy a different product!

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems they “can’t solve”. Benefits is we already paid for it and it works in the meantime.

  ### 42. Overall decent program

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

It's easy to use for a pos that also integrates the business inventory.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

I think that I just didn't know enough about all of its capabilities to fully know what I really dislike. Functions that would be helpful that it can't do is make a gift receipt for a specific item within a transaction

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Gift receipt ease as well as overall improving some user interface and functions to make tasks easier to perform

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Merch pricing, tracking

  ### 43. Manager of a small, but growing retail store

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

The ease of use, it's very simple and straightforward that helps drive sales but also keeps everything super organized. In addition the inventory tracking system is pretty in-depth where you can build complex details about items you are selling.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

The fact that Lightspeed does offer and app that works in sync with the computer program, however you need to purchase an additional licensing agreement in order to access your account on the app. For this matter it can get a little pricey for certain businesses.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

I would recommend this product to business that are more established and are looking to upgrade their system. However, it is a system that is easy to learn and like anything, I'd look around to see what else is out there before committing.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of merchandise can be difficult, however Lightspeed made it easy. You can easily see what you low on, or what you need to reorder. This is a great way of keeping the items that are popular constantly stocked and out on the floor.

  ### 44. Vend is a beautiful blend of reporting and tracking combined with a fresh interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shane G. | President/Creative Director/Brand Maker, Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

I'm a graphic designer by trade. I started a retail store. Many of the programs that had a great user interface did not have the robust tracking I was looking for and vice-versa. After 2 years, 2 systems in action and many others vetted, Vend is everything I was looking for.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

I can view nearly all reports I need. However, I have wanted some special hour-by-hour tracking over months available to me. I'm sure it's on the development list.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Go for it. They listen. They help. The software is easy. It works offline. There's no major contract. You'll be up and running quickly!

I vetted 11 different systems. I used 2 systems before Vend. I'm using the best.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a general store with over 2000 SKUs to track. Vend handles it well. That's time saved and a little peace of mind compared to where we were with another system.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve A. | Owner, Retail, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Ease of use, cloud based, simple to setup.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

No option for tipping inside the retail environment. Credit card integration is lacking.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of use for all employees coupled with a mobile platform.

  ### 46. Overall great system

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Ease of use and learning curve is quick.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

When adding inventory there can be a lot of clicks involved.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

connecting to the webpage is a huge time saver

  ### 47. Simple and easy!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2018

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Simple yet everything a small business retail space needs! Very easy to teach and use.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Very slow to be compatible with new iPad updates.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inventory made easy. Ordering from third party.

  ### 48. Excellent Point of Sales!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

I love that we are able to offer our customers loyalty cash. It keeps them returning and referring their friends to us.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

It lacks things like being able to change product cost at the register and the inventory reporting falls short.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Vend gives you bonuses like loyalty cash for your customers, is easy to navigate, and connects with our Airsquare website. You definitely get more bang for your buck.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were spending $200 a month extra on a loyalty program plus we had a website that did not "talk" with our point of sale. With Vend the loyalty program is included and our website updates with our inventory with Vend. It makes life easier and saves us money.

  ### 49. Lightspeed Retail POS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joanie Z. | Manager, Consumer Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Simplicity of the entire system and almost self explanatory. Allows me the freedom to be offsite and still check on the sales and troubleshoot if needed. I have been in retail over 30 years and worked on various systems. I love this one and the support is outstanding. Very quick to respond and so friendly. No question is a dumb question and they walk you thru everything. Thanks Lightspeed for making my life a lot easier.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

The only issues I have had is the scanner and it sometimes just picks up the wrong items or won't scan at all. Doesn't happen often enough that I need to replace it.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Just write down the questions that pertain to your business. Ask them and they will give you a solution or if they don't have it in the system I will assure you it will be there soon. They like suggestions and work hard to resolve issues quickly. Be sure everything you need in your business or would like is addressed.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ease of doing inventory checks is great. Our old system was a 4 step process and never came out correctly. This is a breeze and so fast to check and reconcile.

  ### 50. Lightspeed is the only POS/ IM system I would recommend

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Hardware | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Lightspeed is incredibly easy to navigate, is straight forward, and is well-supported via chat, phone, videos, and articles. In 3 years of use, I have yet to stumble across any issue that could not be fixed. The support staff is also exceptionally professional, polite, and helpful. I have trained employees on several different point-of-sale/ inventory management systems and Lightspeed is, by FAR, the easiest.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

On occasion, when calling phone support, there have been times when the wait time seemed to be long. Minutes can seem like hours when you are on hold and are trying to resolve an urgent issue. I would like to see more customer service representatives available during peak hours to minimize hold times.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

This winter, I moved to a start-up company as their Director of Operations and specifically requested Lightspeed. I had used the program with a previous employer and was familiar with all of the tools Lightpseed has to offer. I simply cannot imagine how much more difficult my job would be if we were using some other program. Whether it's ordering, vendor returns, advanced reporting, or sales, I know that all of the tools and information I need are at my fingertips.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Capturing web orders and returns and getting them to accurately reflect in inventory counts had always posed a significant problem. This reflected in both inventory levels and in our reports. We have found solutions via Lightspeed for both of these issues and feel that we can actually rely on the information in Lightspeed to be timely and accurate.
