**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

Love how easy this is to use. Simple to train employees on. Most of my product is already integrated into the system.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Not all of the suppliers are hooked up to the online ordering which would make things a lot faster to upload. Has a few glitches sometimes. Would love to have a second screen that customers can view as they check out to show an itemized list of what they are buying.  

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Great to use for bike shop. Cayan by Genius is such a great addition to use for a credit card processing machine. 

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to keep track of all items sold to customers and what repairs have been done to their bikes. It is simple to view these when customer brings bike back in. It helps me to see how many of what bikes I sell per year and forecast better what products to buy the next year.

I like that L/S is easy to use. After trail and error, it's functions make sense to me. I like the integration with the POS and Ecomm sites.

There's clunky issues that I have to spend time figuring out....but usually those issues are user error, not the software.

It's good a good program. Their tech support are educated and really really nice and patient!

Tracking inventory, tracking $$, managing ecomm . . . all are necessary functions to running a retail business. L/S does it very well.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

We use the work order tracking the most and the way work orders are managed in the back office is great. Color-coded statuses, time tracking, quick quote emailing and converting to a sale. Everything just makes sense and works as expected. Customer service is easy to reach and helpful.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Main complaints are inventory management, especially as we use this with lightspeed ecommerce as well as the lack of an ability to create a customer portal for easy updating/communicating about work orders.

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Not sure that I prefer the way Lightspeed Ecommerce and Retail work together better than a seperate ecommerce solution and lightspeed retail.

We have recently started offering payment terms to our clients and it was easy to incorporate that into our workflow with Lightspeed. Additionally, as our business has grown, it has kept pace with our needs.

We love the reporting features, especially when running weekly numbers or checking inventory performance.  
The printed receipts give us a clean, professional look

Selling sets is still a tad tedious in getting inventory adjusted unless you remember to "build" an assembly of individual items prior to completing the sale.

We went fr rom paper receipts to printed receipts - we look professional
The Special order feature allows us to see what's on order and what sales we should be closing soon...that's much cleaner approach than our whiteboard approach. 
We can type faster and more ligibly than handwriting, so it's helping is look more professional. 
The reporting feature has cut down our weekly crunching numbers times drastically.

Vend is a real time solution that offers a clear,effective & accurate selling. it has not been so long that i use  Vend but so far so good. i highly commend this software for similar business that deal with retail selling.

Lightspeed POS is very easy to set up and one can quickly get started. The out of the box, vanilla feature setup is robust enough to allow you to get started with minimum effort. The Lightspeed POS team has done a fantastic job in having some pre-defined rulesets in place to allow the end user to begin using the POS as long as industry level best practices are being used. 

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Lightspeed POS isn't the easiest system to integrate with other applications in your technology landscape. In an omnichannel retail landscape what's important is the ability to integrate with scanners, UPC machines, e-commerce systems and other new hardware integrations - overall this is the biggest challenge with lightspeed POS as compared to some of the other players in the market. Takes a decent amount of development effort and help before the POS is available and good to be used with some custom integrations

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Work with Lightspeed POS to get a demo. It will also help to work with the vendor to better understand certain scenarios that are important to your business like promotions, returns, ease of making changes and updates to the setups before you make a decision on Lightspeed POS. You should also try to compare this POS system with other POS out there like Oracle XPOS, SAP Retail Pro, Square POS etc.

Trying to set up a POS system for a client, we were able to easily set it up at a low cost in a timely manner

I especially love the convenience factor of being able to call at any time and speak to a customer service representative.  We did not have the best service with our last POS company.

I didn't like that within the POS mode, you weren't able to create a "new item." This has however been updated within one of the last updates.

We are still trying to get up and running with the ECom side of Lightspeed, but I can already see the benefits of having the all in one function of the in-store retail and ECom syncing instantly. I can't wait until I get our ECom working!

Easy to manage inventory count: we were four scanning the store /backstore and Lightspeed was putting everything into place automatically. The whole inventory was easily done in a day without problem!

I like that I can keep track of my sales and see how they compare hour by hour and day by day even when im not in my shop I can log on and monitor from home also while keeping track of inventory and sales trends

Sometimes the system is a bit slow to update on the live tracking. Some of the menus aren't very descriptive and I find myself looking at the wrong report

Definitely makes business flow easier

I'm keeping a much better inventory count and easier to track my orders rather than a written system that requires excellent communication which sometimes isn't happening.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

We have been using Lightspeed eCom for just over a month now. Aside from an initial issue with the configuration of our account, we have been extremely pleased with both the robustness of the platform and the customer service.

We migrated from BigCommerce where the customer support was non-existent, the technology consistently full of bugs and where they focus more of their time on their marketing puffery, than actually providing a product that delivers for customers.

Some of the pro's with Lightspeed include:

- Feature rich platform that does not require handfuls of apps to get basic functionality (like Shopify does).
- Blisteringly fast page load times that puts our site in the top 30% of sites for load times.
- Extensive selection of quality themes with functionality like customer accounts, and support tickets, quotes and marketing.
- Highly customizable with a back office that is well organized to locate and work with areas you need.
- Customer service, customer service, customer service! With Shopify the wait times are extended unless you are a Shopify Plus customer. With BigCommerce, you're lucky if they can resolve an issue on the first contact and oftentimes you will wait weeks for a reply, but with Lightspeed, every single interaction I have had with their support team for technical concerns has been resolved on the first call and some of these issues have been complex.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

Keep in mind that if you are looking to use Lightspeed ecom and POS, DO NOT build out your ecom store until a new account has been provisioned as they need to link ecom and POS via a new account, not your trial. This was a mistake that we made!

**Recommendations to others considering Lightspeed Retail:**

Make sure if you are using ecom with POS that you wait to speak with a sales rep to provide you with a new account. We did not and kinda screwed ourselves in the process as POS cannot be connected to a standalone ecom store at this time.

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our biggest concern was latency with page loads with competitor platforms. Lightspeed knocks it out of the park with superfast page load time. Also, the number of apps that we need to install in negligible. We used to use BigCommerce and Shopify where we had to install a ton of apps to make things work.

The back office of Lightspeed is extremely functional, we have cut our administration time in half.

It's an all in one solution that manages our sales, inventory, and payment processing.

Tasks do not always go back to the start screen when you complete them so you either need to hit back or start over.  I also wish I could have a second warehouse to put RMAs, MRB, etc but they charge for this.

It's a great product.  We use it with Paypal Here and it integrates fully with it.

It manages our retail sales, inventory, and payment processing.  It allows us to have multiple sales people and track them individually.

The best thing I like about Vend is how easy it is to use and how little training is required to be able to use the system when serving at the shop I volunteer at for fundraising purposes. It makes fundraising so much more enjoyable, rewarding and profitable.

It's probably the most intuitive POS I've used. Very simple and easy with plenty of support articles. Support is also easy to get in contact with and they have always been patient and helpful.

No real complaints, but some aspects of adjusting inventory levels can be a little confusing.

Lightspeed made it easy for me to set up a POS and process purchases quickly and simply. It allows to me keep careful track of things like sales and inventory.

In the beginning when they were merchant os they listened and updated stuff. Now they don’t.

Set me up for a yearly contract which actually happened to be a 4 year contract. Look there are better services out now that work better and cost less don’t require 4 year contracts for the best price. Plus you’ll love it when there support says I can’t wait on the phone with you because we have a high waiting que... well wonder why they  have a high que sign the contract an you’ll know for the next four years.

Honestly, I have nothing positive to say about LS. 

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

We've been using LS since 2012.  It has been extremely unreliable and finicky.  With our 3rd location we were recommended by LS to go with i-pads and use the LS App and that this would be a solution to the inconsistency we have with the product.  The App is awful, we've been using for 18 months now, it has been nothing but constant issues of not staying connected to terminals, printers,  switching to other store locations, switching employees to other locations during transactions, will not stay connected.  It is NOT an issue with our internet connection. The App is literally not functioning and we are having to pull a laptop from our BOH and patch our sales between the i-pad and the lap top.  We've been told by LS that they know it is a problem with their APP and as of right now, they do not know how to fix the problem.  We have made a significant investment in equipment purchased solely for using the LS App, and it is now useless and another equipment investment will be required to switch over to using LS through a browser, new laptops, scanners, printers, etc.

Do not go there if you are looking for good customer service support that offers real solutions to problems with their system.  I could show you email after email after email of notifications we've received of having problems.  It is completely unreliable.

Lightspeed is creating problems and hindering our ability as a business to provide a quick customer friendly experience during transactions.  It is a nightmare!  Our problem now is the investment we've made.

I like the Vend help section best.  They have a genuine interest in the helping solve any problem.

Vend is limited.  Number dont alway add up.  Not having the ability to cost freight into COGS automatically is frustrating.   We do that manually,  spreading the cost across items.

It is a great POS experience and stock control is quite good.  The gift card function is great.

The integration with their ecomm site puts everything is one application. All the inventory is available for both in store and online, no need to manage two separate programs. Lots of reports for business analyzation and good customer service.

There are so many reports and trying to learn all the ins and outs requires time, which is not in abundance when you are running a 7 day a week business. It would be great if there were training webinars available, becauser some people, me, learn by doing, not by reading.

We have used Lightspeed for 3 years now, not only has it improved the efficiency of our business, thorough use of set levels of inventory and reorder reports, the interface is simple and easily understood by employees and managers. Set roles/interface needs by position ensure complete control over who sees what. Overall the easiest and best POS system we have used in over 10 years.

The interface is very straightforward, making it fairly easy to use once you do some exploring.

I wish that you could sort a list of items in your inventory by more than just alphabetical order of the item description. It would be nice to be able to sort by price, category and vendor/brand as well.

I love that I can log-in from anywhere if I have my laptop.

**What do you like best about Lightspeed Retail?**

There are so many different ways to search for information, that if you know how to search for what you're looking for, it's easy to jump right to it without having to filter through a ton of unnecessary information.  I also like how quotes, orders, and invoices are linked and show who created them.  It makes it easy to know what employee to track down if we have a question on the paperwork.  I like how accessible information about Lightspeed is online.  If I have a question about how to do something in Lightspeed, such as create a certain type of report, I can usually find the information extremely quickly just by googling it.

**What do you dislike about Lightspeed Retail?**

It seems like every time there is an update, something that previously worked no longer does.  For example, after about every other update, it takes manually entered credit card payments just fine.  The other every other time, it will crash the program every time you manually enter a card payment, so you have to force quit and reopen it.  Batch printing statements also only works sporadically.  Sometimes, even if we tell it to batch print, we have to manually hit the print button for each of our close to 60 statements.

Learn the tools in the tabs like how to create reports or export information.  They save a lot of time!

(The only reason why I'm putting pricing as "n/a" is because I'm not the one who buys it, so I'm not sure what the pricing is or how it compares with other programs.)

**What problems is Lightspeed Retail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Accounts Receivable window is easy to view and organize, which helps us keep track of outstanding invoices and know who needs contacted so we can collect.  Because we use it on the computers at the counter, as well as in the office, it makes it a nice, centralized program that everyone with access to the computers knows how to use.

Some features can be confusing -- special orders, layaways, etc.  Their website product management system needs to be easier.  Managing with excel sheets works, but there could be a better design to make it more user friendly.

I purchased it because of catalog import features. Also the reporting and many custom pricing options available.

Customer support/success team wont talk or book time as per my timing. They do not even let me talk on first on-boarding call and muted me during entire session. wont entertain my request of having a longer then 1 hr session to setup 2 terminal i purchased. I know 1 hour is not enough and even if they have two consecutive time slot available wont let me book 2 session in a day. Escalated manager, but same robotic answer. Its been 3 weeks and we have no call setup yet.
They have no empathy towards customers and their need, they think follow our protocol and timing or buzz off
