I like Liferay Commerce because it combines powerful commerce capabilities with a full digital experience platform, thanks to its integration with Liferay DXP. This integration makes it much easier to deliver a seamless and consistent customer journey from discovery to purchase. I also appreciate how it simplifies the handling of complex B2B requirements by centralizing contract-based pricing and role-based purchasing, which reduces errors and improves efficiency. The ability to manage content, personalization, and commerce features in one place makes my work much more streamlined. Plus, its powerful personalization capabilities allow me to tailor experiences based on user roles or behavior, enhancing customer satisfaction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While Liferay Commerce is powerful, there are a few areas where it could be better. The steep learning curve is noticeable because it’s built on top of Liferay DXP and offers so many features, which can feel overwhelming for new developers or business users. The setup and implementation complexity needs more planning, configuration, and technical expertise, especially for complex B2B use cases, which can be time-consuming. Performance tuning can be tricky since it often requires careful optimization such as caching, indexing, and infrastructure tuning for large catalogs or high-traffic environments. The UI/UX for admin users could be more intuitive, and some workflows like managing pricing rules or catalogs could be simplified to improve productivity for non-technical users. Documentation gaps in advanced use cases can slow down development since finding clear, detailed guidance can be challenging for advanced customizations or integrations. There are limited out-of-the-box features compared to some competitors, requiring additional customization or third-party integration for certain modern eCommerce features. Also, the higher cost and resource requirements as an enterprise-grade solution can be relatively expensive, not just in licensing, but also in terms of infrastructure and skilled developers needed to maintain it.
