Recommendations to others considering LibreOffice: Grab something from the public domain, such as "claws mail" or Mozilla Thunderbird to handle your e-mail.Although e-mail functionality would have been a nice feature in LibreOffice, it wasn't included in the package, likely due to the fact that there is an over abundance of e-mail utilities floating around for Linux, and Linux-y environments. The fact that this is free is the #1 reason my work chooses LibreOffice. But we would not use it if the program set did not get the job done. LibreOffice doesn't have all the same presenting and formatting options that Microsoft Office does, but it has everything I commonly use in my role. The best part about LibreOffice is that it is free, open-source and highly customizable. I was a MS office user for more than ten years on my Windows system. LibreOffice has the exact same, rather more features than MS Office. It has an easy-to-use UI which can be customized as per my needs. My favorite application is LibreOffice Writer, the perfect and highly competent alternative to MS Word. It is regularly updated, which makes it even better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about LibreOffice? The only thing I don't like about this software is that it fails to provide support to files from the latest office build, MS Office 2019. The world is still using MS office, and hence it becomes necessary that this software should support the file format as well. The interface is entirely customizable, allowing users to adapt to LibreOffice faster. Virtually all basic and intermediate spreadsheet and text editing tools are available. LibreOffice is one of the few open-source solutions that develop advanced solutions such as VBA language support; this allows many tasks to be performed natively, avoiding the use of an external solution and the misinterpretation that, for example, an automation system based on OCR or pattern recognition can cause. What do you dislike about LibreOffice? The regular expression system is inferior to some competitors, and VBA compatibility is difficult to use as it requires several modifications to the original code to work correctly. Even though there are tools that convert VBA automation to LibreOffice compatibility mode, they are never perfect. This brings advantages, but it also makes work difficult when you are not all the time connected to the corporate system. Libre Office includes word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and drawing tools. Libre Office is compatible with Microsoft Office.
