Levelator is a software that runs on Windows, OS X (universal binary), or Linux (Ubuntu) that adjusts the audio levels within podcast or other audio file for variations from one speaker to the next.

**What do you like best about levelator?**

I started using the software because it was free.  Also, how it works is very simple; you just drag your .wav file on an area of your screen, it processes the file, and saves it in the same folder as the original.

**What do you dislike about levelator?**

It took a bit longer than I'd like.  Also, I needed a bit more control over the processing.  For example for a podcast, I wanted the audio to be a little louder than what was being produced in comparison to other platforms.

**Recommendations to others considering levelator:**

Its a desktop application not a cloud one. Also you don't get any controls over the processing, which depending on your needs could be either a positive or a negative.

**What problems is levelator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to quickly get podcast audio to sound more even, without having to open up my DAW.

**What do you like best about levelator?**

This program is dead simple but works like a charm.   I am very soft spoken and uneven in my volume.

Levelator manages to level out the highs and lows and results in voice quality that is acceptable for training tutorials.   I have tried Audacity, another great tool but it required lots of manual work.  Levelator does it in one single step.

All you need to do is just drag your wav format audio file into the running window and out comes the cleaned up version.   No mess, no fuss.






**What do you dislike about levelator?**

The only real problem is that levelator is no longer supported.  It is made available by "The Conversations Network" and it can still be downloaded but there are no new updates.

**Recommendations to others considering levelator:**

Use it while you can.   Maybe prod "The Conversations Network" to either continue supporting or else open source the software.

**What problems is levelator solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am very soft spoken and uneven in my volume.  The levelator allows me to correct my audio so that I can still record training videos that people are willing to listen to.
