The new rollforward tool had made both quarterly reporting and audit readiness easier. We no longer need to manually prepare this report now that it is available at the click of a button.

LeaseAccelerator continues resolve one-off accounting issues resulting from rare scenarios through quarterly patch releases, but they have been able to do so this year with little to no adverse repercussions to our portfolio. The new software releases pose the greatest challenges to us, most recently from a modification standpoint. Some of the functionalities and the rules enabling/disabling those functionalities changed to our surprise which required us to work with the Support team in order to resolve the issues we were experiencing. As a Company that reports in US GAAP and IFRS, I love that we have access to push-button disclosure reporting. The maturity analysis report and quantitative analysis reports allow us to get from raw data to disclosures quickly, and the widespread reporting capabilities make it easy to share and review reports with our regional and plant teams so we can ensure leases are being captured and accounted for appropriately. As with any system, there are quirks from time to time that may require engineering support or workarounds in the short term - usually thanks to a weird lease update or renewal, or finding out information after the fact that has to be backdated. However, through a dedicated support person and ticketed engineering system, we are typically able to find solutions within a 24 hour window, especially during close/reporting times. The most helpful things are about Lease Accelerator are: creation of monthly entries and the ability to forecast depreciation and interest expense. Also having a database of all leases in one place with terms of each is very helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Lease Accelerator was very difficult to implement. We identified several issues in which the software did not properly apply the accounting. For example, mid month lease start date doesn't properly prorate payments, $5K low value lease exemption cannot be applied for subleases, prepayments of rent due on 1st of month do not properly reduce the lease liability. While LA purports to support both IFRS 16 and ASC 842, it's mainly focused on ASC 842 standard and there isn't much support for IFRS or the differences between US GAAP and IFRS and reports, etc. are geared to ASC 842. I like the personal approach to ensuring a good customer experience from the LeaseAccelerator team, including the most senior level leaders in the organization. I also appreciate the proactiveness of the leadership team in bringing new opportunities and solutions to us to help us achieve greater financial and efficiency benefits. I would like to see much less time locked out of the system for sweeping processes during monthly releases. This process can create situations where our team sits idle for too long waiting to re-access the system. Our Customer Success Manager is incredibly helpful and holds check in calls with our team every 2 weeks to discuss any questions and open support cases, and in between the calls is very responsive to questions via email. He is also proactive to reach out if he notices anything in our lease portfolio/system configuration that needs attention. Technical Support also generally addresses issues very quickly and efficiently. It is very easy to create support case tickets and to follow the status of the ticket. I like having access to a database of training video I can watch and review as needed, the videos are easy to follow and understand. The live Velocity sessions are also very helpful to learn the system and to be able to ask questions in real time; the trainers/SMEs are very knowledgeable. The system isn't perfect as we occasionally run into issues (ie. a functionality that isn't available, a journal entry not generating correctly, etc) but the company is continually improving with frequent version updates and generally has upcoming fixes in the pipeline before we identify an issue. They will also proactively reach out to let us know of updates that cause accounting adjustments and specifically which leases in our portfolio could potentially be impacted so that we can monitor the month end journal entry export. Technical difficulties occur somewhat frequently when trying to run system reports, which are sometimes remediated by switching browsers or clearing cache, but often require follow up with customer service and/or technical support. Also the journal entries generated from the system seem a bit complicated and difficult to understand a first. There is a bit of a learning curve to use the system and to make sure you are entering and updating lease information correctly in order to generate proper financial reporting data.
