## About LaunchDarkly
Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Oakland, California, LaunchDarkly serves over thousands of enterprises, including a quarter of the Fortune 500. LaunchDarkly is the runtime control platform for the AI era, trusted by software teams to control AI-generated code and AI agents in production at any scale. The LaunchDarkly platform delivers runtime control through two solutions: CodeControl and AgentControl. CodeControl helps teams ship AI-generated code confidently. With CodeControl, teams can observe production behavior, make changes in real time, and limit exposure based on actual impact. Through a combination of industry-leading feature flags, progressive rollouts, real-time observability, experimentation, and automatic recovery, LaunchDarkly gives organizations the ability to move at AI speed without giving up control. AgentControl helps teams keep AI agents in check in production, blocking bad behavior and steering responses in real time. Teams can configure prompts and models before launch, monitor and observe live performance and behavior, and automatically take action—without redeploying. When agents make curious decisions, or when small prompt or model changes cause big issues, AgentControl detects and corrects them as they happen. With runtime control across code and agents, LaunchDarkly helps enable teams to ship AI-built software with confidence, govern agent behavior in production, optimize AI performance and cost, build self-healing systems, and experiment continuously. The result is faster release velocity, lower production risk, and the ability to continuously adapt software and AI systems without slowing down to stay safer.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2025

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

1. Easy to maintain flags across several environments.
2. Role management
3. JSON support for flag values.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

1. Developer Docs for react could be better, they just lead back to the JS api

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Feature flag management and A/B experimentation

  ### 4. Senior level software engineer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

You do not have to write rollout code and there is a UI available to use. Being able to toggle my env's differbntly and being able to rollout to a user or a percetage has been most useful for my team. I look forward to using other LD features and ppreciate that more features are coming.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Nothing has been unhelpful but the simple fact that we are using a 3rd party adds compplexity if LD has any downtime.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An out of the box solution for feature managment which benefits us b/c we do not need to spend dev time on it. Having analytics has also been beneficial.

  ### 5. One of our most useful third party tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

LaunchDarkly is easy to use and easy for developers to implement. It gives us fine-grained control over feature roll-out and improves the reliability of our product by enabling us to roll out incrementally and roll back instantly if needed. We just started using Experiments and were able to gather some great insights about which version of a new feature was performing best.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The cost! It's such a useful tool for the teams that get to use it, but due to the cost we're only able to offer

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Soft launches of new features, quick and low-touch rollback and recovery, experimentation to compare different approaches, democratization of feature management

  ### 6. Great for mitigating risk for big rollouts and for experiments

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Natasha J. | Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Big launches could be done in percentage rollouts, reducing risk of breaking key functionality in production. We use it for every new feature release.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The recent UI redesign made it less user friendly, unclear what the benefit of that redesign was.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to release big features with confidence, but also mitigating risk at the same time. Percentage rollouts help a lot with this.

  ### 7. Awesome

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rupinder S. | Software Developer Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

The option to schedule the changes . Really great exprerience.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

UI can be improved with more information corresonding to features that Launch Darly has .

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Every time we need to enable a feature we need not to deploy our services again . Its saves lot of time that we would need to deploy the services again with new config changes if LD was not there.

  ### 8. It works like a charm!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

It allows teams to roll out features gradually, to specific users or groups, and even to roll back if something goes wrong, without needing to redeploy code. This flexibility is a huge benefit in managing risk during deployment.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Managing a large number of feature flags can become cumbersome, leading to flag sprawl. This requires careful management and cleanup of flags that are no longer needed to avoid technical debt.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LaunchDarkly's feature flags allow you to roll out features gradually, test in production with real users, and quickly revert if something goes wrong without redeploying code. This reduces risk and downtime significantly.

  ### 9. perfect to launch feature at a scale

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

The ease of use and adding new config is very swift.
The new UI just got lauched which increases the asthetic and functionaly very much. You can also schedule your config change.
The SDK is also readily available for many languages for implementing your config. It's also very easy to intergrate, via SDK key to get started.
We this LD daily for managing features at scale. The customer technical support is available to help you intergrate SDK if required.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

In some project, not able to edit rule title.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to ship feature at incredable speed with help of LauchDarkly.

**Official Response from Tia Wucher:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with LaunchDarkly! We're glad to hear that the ease of use, swift config changes, and availability of SDKs have been beneficial for managing features at scale. We'll take note of your feedback about the inability to edit rule titles in some projects. We appreciate your support!

  ### 10. Very robust for feature flag management and A/B testing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Or H. | Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

1. The usage is relatively straight forward.
2. The UI feels modern and intuitive eversince their recent UI change.
3. Extremely performant!
4. I've never encountered any sort of down time.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

1. Integrating with some server platforms may not be as straight foward.
2. The public API could be simpler to use, with better documentation.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Management of feature flags is a complicated task in a large organization, where partioning by regions and environments is crucial.
I've used inhouse systems before and LaunchDarkly seems to really productize the process of managing feature flags, making it fairly simple and performant to use even in a large organization.

  ### 11. Launch Darkly is easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pabitra G. | Custom Software Engineering Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

The environment specific keys is a great feature and the values are fetched quickly programatically unlike other feature flag providers.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Nothing as of now. Things have just worked fine with Launch Darjly for me

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Earlier I used to store my feature flags in database, now I am using Launch Darkly for this purpose. Its very quick to access the flags from Launch Darkly.

  ### 12. it's very useful and easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Huan L. | Staff software engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Customize the variations when calling the LD

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The new UI is not straitforward, we can optimize this and make it more easy to use and understand.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using the LD as the feature flag, we can put the feature behind the LD.
most useful feature is the version control, which can help me open/close the feature based on the app version

  ### 13. Launch Darkly simplified the life of developers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jyoti K. | Staff Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

- Availability of service is a big win for our P0 service.
- Use LaunchDarkly extensively, applying various combinations of custom rules provided.
- Easily able to integrate and implement rules.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The new portal is not very user-friendly; things have changed quite a bit, and you have to look for where the variations are, etc. The older one was easier to use.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Launch Darkly assisted in activating features during runtime without needing a deployment to change the flag value. We are also using Launch Darkly for degradation levers, so in case of any panic scenario, we can enable/disable certain configurations accordingly.

  ### 14. Smooth, batteries-included system for managing feature flags

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

All in all, the system is very well-thought. I don't remember ever having problems using it at work, and it has everything needed for our use cases

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

It can get very complex to set feature flags for different users, and you need to be very careful when setting stuff in there. It makes sense to be that way (if a customer needs this kind of customization) but just a thing to keep in mind

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to easily manage features per-user or organization (or environment), and being able to dynamically change the experience for users.

**Official Response from Tia Wucher:**

> We're glad to hear that you find LaunchDarkly well-thought and easy to use for your work. Thank you for sharing your positive experience!

  ### 15. Amazing tool to be used when developing services

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Keshav B. | Software Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Runtime config change without need of deployment of a service

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

There is nothing that I dislike as such. However I think the number of org members are very limited. We can increase that to a much higher number

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Runtime configuration change is the much needed feature for any application/service for fast mitigation or launching any feature

  ### 16. Launchdarkly has helped our team launch and scale new features to millions of users worldwide

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

The ease of use. How well it integrates with both our front end and backend systems to help us control feature rollouts. The rules and variations are also a granular controls, which is a must for our use case

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The recent UI refresh feels less user friendly, has hidden away easily accessed controls. I really miss the easy switch between the rules, variations, experiments and insights tab.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a platform that caters to millions of users across continens. Launching a new feature is a big task especially considering our scale, sometimes we need to do it for only a particular country or app versions due to backword compatibility issues. LD helps us immensely with granular controls of our feature rollouts with easy fallbacks and peace of mind with deployments.

**Official Response from Tia Wucher:**

> It's great to hear that LaunchDarkly is helping you with granular controls for feature rollouts, especially at your scale. We're committed to providing solutions that offer peace of mind with deployments and easy fallback options. Please reach out to advocacy@launchdarkly.com if you are interested in providing direct feedback to our product team - we value your feedback!

  ### 17. Great tool to deliver impact at velocity

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sagar S. | Senior Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 23, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Ability to tailor faeatures as per customer requirements and be able to carry out A/B testing and staged rollout very easily

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Their own updates are launched without much user education

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows us to rollout features without waiting for the testingto be concluded across entire user base and all other custom implementations

  ### 18. Amazing tool for all your configs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vrihas P. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

The ease of managing a config with different environments setup

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Sometimes there is a delay from Launch Darkly in updating a config

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is providing a single dashboard to manage all the feature flags with an option of having custom rules. This helps in enabling a feature for a certain set of users.

  ### 19. My experience has been overall positive.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jared L. | Software Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

It's helpful being able to use the feature flags for hiding bits of code until its ready for use and being able to limit or slowly rollout the users who are able to interact with the hidden feature. It's also helpful for people that are not devs on the team as they can turn on/off features without a dev changing the codebase.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

I dont really have any dislikes of the product.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its allowing devs on our team to continue pushing new code into any env branch while also keeping the branch deployable at anytime. It simplifies our branching strategy and it provides a fast on/off switch for example, a feature not performing as expected without the need to go through another dev life cycle & deployment.

  ### 20. Amazing feature set; the outage raises reliability issues

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bilal Z. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Feature flagging and experimentations have been a core part of my work flow, and I have really enjoyed utilizing LaunchDarkly's suite of controlled rollout tools.

The SDKs for Node and React have been excellent as well, and I can't recall ever running into issues with them.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The outage a few weeks ago raises serious concerns about reliablity. Strong SLA metrics are absolutely essiential for an app like this so LaunchDarkly needs to ensure this doesn't happen again; it's horrifying to think of us not being able to shut off a feature with a p0 bug because our flag provider is down.

I also don't like that you have to enable a flag before running an experiment; it seems unintuitive.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Adding failsafes and granularity to feature rollouts. As a larger product, we need to experiment and ensure our features are effective and robust; we also need the ability to shut off larger functionalities if things go wrong. This mantains the integrity of our product.

  ### 21. It is pretty easy to understand how the software product works with little-to-no-experience.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

It's really simple to target specific platforms and/or rollout to a specific percentage of users. I really like how simple the configuration is to change.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The UI changes as of late are way too intense. I don't like how much white space there is and the distinction between dev and prod is not clear enough in my opinion.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LaunchDarkly allows us to ship features more quickly on mobile. We can ship our app and then when we are fully ready flip the feature flag on to enable the feature.

  ### 22. Makes releasing changes a much easier and less stressful experience

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Feature flags allow us to release new features much more quickly because we know we can enable/disable things at the click of a button. They're also hugely configurable so you can enable things for only a subset of users, calls, etc. We use LaunchDarkly basically every day!

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The only complaint I have is that they seem to redesign their site pretty frequently and that often comes with a short learning curve to get used to it.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to enable/disable features and test new changes more easily.

  ### 23. Great app for partial release a MVP management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raul O. | Technical Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

It is easy to use, configure and integrate, supports almost every platform for integration and a big set of targets without major performance issues

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

With the new UI it was kind of hard to find my way around, but with time a get used to it.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MVP, testing features before releasing

  ### 24. Shorter time to production for new features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2025

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

It's much faster to add new features into production.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Nothing to dislike at this time. Everything has been great

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rolling out features in phases.

  ### 25. LaunchDarkly: Good Feature Flagging Solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Ability to easily manage and control feature flags across different environments is its standout feature. It empowers teams to release features gradually, roll back changes safely, and experiment without redeploying code, which greatly enhances the deployment process.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

the learning curve for advanced use cases, such as multi-environment or complex segmentation, can be steep for newcomers. While the documentation is helpful, more in-depth tutorials and real-world examples would be a welcome addition to ease onboarding.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LaunchDarkly solves the challenge of managing feature releases and running A/B tests without the need for complex deployment cycles. It allows us to deploy new features behind feature flags and release them gradually to specific user segments, reducing the risk of bugs or negative impacts on the entire user base

  ### 26. LaunchDarkly: The Knight of the after dark release

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhi S. | Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Ease of usage, low latencies, ease of maintenance and rollout

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

New UI is but unintutive and a total revamp, which requires a larger learning curve

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Feature management provides a easy and reliable way to not only controll feature but to also develop degradation levers for high throughput cases

  ### 27. Complete feature management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

LaunchDarkly provides a significant amount of (useful) features that span over the entire the feature lifecycle.: progressive feature rollout, kill switches, experimentation ... I like that concepts are well-strutured and best-practices are documented.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Because of its richness, LaunchDarkly can be a bit complex.Training is needed in order to really leverage it. I'm wondering if there are ways to make to product simpler to use...

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LaunchDarkly helps us with feature rollout management across environements and across user segments. It standardizes how we release features in our organization.

**Official Response from Tia Wucher:**

> Thank you for your feedback! We're pleased that LaunchDarkly is helping you standardize feature releases and manage rollouts across different environments and user segments. We're committed to making the platform as user-friendly as possible, and we appreciate your input on simplifying the product. Stay tuned for ways in which we are improving on the the UI/UX!

  ### 28. Seamless and Easy to Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikhil W. | SDET Manager, Online Media, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

The clean and intuitive UI makes it a breeze to integrate, implement, and manage multiple configs at ease.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

No downsides that I have come across so far.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Testing my apps with different configs for different test scenarios has never been easier.

**Official Response from Tia Wucher:**

> It's great to hear that LaunchDarkly is making testing with different configs easier for you. We're happy to be able to provide that benefit for your app development.

  ### 29. LaunchDarkly has a great looking UI and is convenient to quickly create flags and roll out

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

I like the change history available to debug who changed flags recently. I feel the Segments and percentage roll out making creating and ramping up flags super easy.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Maybe a bit more opinionated way of keeping names/keys would make everyones flags automatically more standardized
I don't know if I need all the different types of flags and rules so maybe that part can be simplified

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A lot of features I need to test in production and slowly roll out to avoid breaking everything

**Official Response from Tia Wucher:**

> We're glad to hear that you find our UI convenient and that the change history feature is helpful for debugging. We appreciate your feedback about standardizing flag names/keys and simplifying flag types and rules. We'll definitely take that into consideration for future improvements. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

  ### 30. Real time config manager

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

The config changes take effect almost immediately.
The UI is good, and does the job for the most part.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The targeting rules setup is a bit too many clicks to be done via UI.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Features can be turned on or off almost in real time.

  ### 31. LD has been a consistent, reliable, and often used tool in our tool chain.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Mostly that it's reliable. The usage graphs are handy. Once set up, the toggles are generally pretty easy.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

It's gotten harder to setup a simple flag. There are different wizards for flag setup and it's still not immediately clear why. It doesn't seem like it should be something that requires extensive documentation. I would prefer a page with all the possible toggles and buttons to customize a flag, instead of a wizard that describes potential use cases for how to use a precreated flag. I don't trust the wizard knows how I use LD flags, nor do i fully understand what it means. For example a flag is used for "migrations" - what does that truly mean. I don't want to read through documentation assuming an abstraction. All I need to know is when it's on and when it's off and the possible configuration I can give it. The wizard assumes too much of a use case without explaining how it actually works. I would prefer to know what exactly it does, and maybe have documentation that provides potential use cases.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Feature management. If we are migrating to a new feature, or want to do testing. Primarily a true/false switch that has extra parameters for user, company, project, whatever. Seems pretty replaceable to be honest.

  ### 32. Great product easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dhruvit G. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Best every User interface easly able to confire the LD flag in to the web-site
Easy implemetaion part. Good Cutomer Support. Easy Intergation in to any system.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Sometime, It's paiful for onboarding new developer due to complex UI.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sepecially my AB test case usecase

  ### 33. Promising feature flag management with clear areas of improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Generally pretty reliable and easy enough to use for small number of flags and rules. I'm not familiar with other feature flag services but the general functionalities are enough to cover our use cases for the most part.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Inability to "select" and copy text from rules is pretty annoying. The latest changes to the UI also seem unnecessary and actually detract from usability a bit. For instance, you can't "find and search" for an existing value of a rule as easily anymore if any sections are collapsed. Variations should also indicate if they are not in use by any rule for easy cleanup too (or have a last used date as well). I think others at the company are not impressed by the permission granularity as well - for instance inability for developers to rename or delete a flag that they're still working on without escalating to someone with higher perms, since it's been created in "prod" even if they're testing it in our development environment.
Search functionality for existing flag is a bit lacking, partial matches are not done well.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Biggest problem LD is solving for us is how to deploy different variations to different groups.

  ### 34. Launchdarkly is easy to reason about and generally stable

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Launchdarkly does not have many incidents in my experience, meaning that we are able to bake in feature flags with confidence in many of our systems. This enables us to test functionality, expose it to a subset of users, and generally control our rollsout more effectively.

We use Launchdarkly across a number of services in our stack for everything from rollout to dynamic configuration to feature gating. It is very easy to add launchdarkly to your stack.

I have never needed to reach out to customer support to resolve any problems so I can't speak to that dimension.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Launchdarkly can have a bit of a clunky UI in some places (for instances, permissioning can be a bit confusing). This is not a major problem, but discoverability can be a bit difficult in the product itself.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LaunchDarkly adds very easy ability to use stable feature flags in our services. This benefits testing and rollout greatly.

  ### 35. Best feature management platform which supports high concurrency

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Launch Darkly is designed in such a way that even high concurrency apps like us are easily supported with ease. No major downtime noticed so far. Best feature management platform used till now.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Nothing major as such that I have disliked about LaunchDarkly so far.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Launch Darkly is a single place for all of our feature flags now. We do not need a deployment if a particular feature needs to be enabled/disabled in any new country or for a particular platform.

  ### 36. works like a charm

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

LaunchDarkly excels at providing robust feature flagging capabilities which empower teams to control and roll out new features with incredible precision and safety. The platform's ability to segment and target specific user groups is particularly valuable, allowing for detailed, controlled testing and feature releases. The real-time updates without the need to redeploy code is a standout feature, facilitating a dynamic development environment that responds swiftly to the needs of the business and its users.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

One downside of LaunchDarkly is the complexity of its pricing structure. It can be somewhat opaque and potentially expensive, especially for smaller teams or organizations just starting out with feature flags. The initial setup and learning curve can also be steep for teams without prior experience in feature management. While the documentation is thorough, the sheer number of features and options can be overwhelming.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reducing Need for Hotfixes and Rollbacks. When bugs slip through into production, the traditional response often involves hotfixes or rollbacks, which can be disruptive and time-consuming. With LaunchDarkly, we can quickly disable a problematic feature using feature flags without redeploying the entire application. This not only reduces downtime but also minimizes the impact on users, improving overall service reliability.

  ### 37. Extremely feature rich, intuitive, fast and customisable

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Warren F. | Principal Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Launch Darkly has a very robust and feature rich platform. Beyond just feature flagging, you have the ability to deeply control how and when features are delivered to your customers, with tools to automate stale flags and code cleanup. They have integrations with all the software that we use which has made integrating that much simpler.

Beyond that, we have a very custom implementation which takes into account cache affecting feature flags on our edge compute platform. The Launch Darkly team have been there to answer our questions and provide hands on support every step of the way. They even took on the task of training our experimentation team on how to use the software.

We have very strict requirements on our edge platform to return results in a tiny timeframe, the Launch Darkly API is incredibly fast, reliable and suitable for this usecase.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

It's very difficult to find things I dislike, but if I had to dig deep I would say that it would be useful to have the ability to separately handle a "holdout" group percentage for each flag, along side an active and inactive state. The process to do this at the moment is farily manual and involves creating a prerequisite flag alongside the experiment.

Due to our custom implementation, it would be an advantage to be able to fetch the "tags" associated with the flags in the same fetch. Currently, we have to handle this ourselves (due to a strict requirement to return results within a tiny timeframe).

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our website receives over 400 million user sessions every year, so releasing features can be a risky endevour! Launch Darkly helps you reduce the risk and measure the impact of releasing features in production. Since metrics can be fed directly into Launch Darkly, you can setup automatic safety mechanisms which switch features off when a relevant metric falls below acceptable thresholds. We closely measure our DORA metrics, and Launch Darkly has helped us improve these, especially with Mean Time to Recovery.

Before we had implemented Launch Darkly, our experimentation team had little to no autonomy when it came to changing percentages for slow rollouts. Infact, it was a long and drawnout process which involved a lot of steps and a lot of waiting between those steps. Now that we have our Launch Darkly implementation in place, once an experiment has been created, the experimentation team need only log into the Launch Darkly dashboard and make the changes directly themselves which are then reflected instantly in production.

  ### 38. LaunchDarkly is a great product with solid features.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

LaunchDarkly provides a great set of features for managing feature flags, kill switches and configuration in a centralized location. It is usable by both technical and non-technical stakeholders to safely roll out new features, or roll them back, when necessary. The technology is fast and reliable in terms of getting the updates to the clients making it a dependable solution for production workloads.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

LaunchDarkly does its core use-case pretty well. While support for experimentation exists, this is not one of the areas where launch darkly is particularly strong. Better support for experimentation and user targetting would be welcome additions to the LaunchDarkly product line.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We primarily use LaunchDarkly for feature flagging on new features and to act as a killswitch for new rollouts or risky changes. LaunchDarkly allows anyone on our team to easily see the status of our flags and make changes as needed during new product rollouts or feature launches. This is great because it means our engineers, product team and leadership can all use one view to understand the state of things and make updates without the need for a release/deployment.

  ### 39. Premier Feature Management Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe H. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

There's lots of to like about LaunchDarkly 99.99% availabilty, ~25ms for flag changes, Intinuitive UI, mature permissioning model, 100% of configuration can be Terraform'd, support for major IDPs the list goes on. Most importantly their customer support and account management is very good, it's a partnership and they offer support where many others will leave you to it.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Only one price, you get what you pay for in most technologies and that's the same with LaunchDarkly, to get ROI you have to fully embrace the power of feature flag driven release management. LaunchDarkly releasing the new service based pricing model is a step in the right direction but as always there's more work to be done.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it in a few ways:
* gradually releasing high risk changes, with LaunchDarkly we can target specific events to release the new functionality to, this massively reduces blast radius taking what would be a multi-million dollar incident to less than a hundred
* controlling product features, you can do this with homegrown solutions but the real benefit to using LaunchDarkly is its flag management features checking for flag staleness and code references ensuring that you can eventually clean these up and do so safely
* a/b testing UI changes in our account management dashboards

  ### 40. Powerful tool to manage feature flags

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

This is very useful tool when it comes to managing feature flags, A/B flags etc. It's easy to integrate with the CI/CD tools. The deployment process becomes very easy as the flags can be managed at realtime

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The free tier of LaunchDarkly is quite limited, which may not be sufficient for teams needing more advanced features or larger scale usage. This can be a barrier for smaller projects or startups.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helping in with AB testing and feature flags

  ### 41. It's Greaaaaaaaaat

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sanchay H. | Software Development Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

very simple to ingerate and provides every functionality one might need

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The new UI is slightly confusing and is easy to get lost

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everything we have config based has been completely moved to launchdarkly and is always our go to option

  ### 42. Great product, with a few small wrinkles

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

It's great to see many more features added into launch darkly regularly. It's a product I regularly use.

I work in the growth team for my company as an engineer and create many experiments with this product.

I enjoy using the product for its feature flag and A/B testing features. For feature flagging there are many feature flags we use to show and hide features to a sample of users and launch darkly is great at capturing certain populations of a sample set.

I also use launch darkly for its A/B testing and experimentation. It's much more complex than the simple feature flag

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

There are a few small opportunities that would go a long way in making LaunchDarkly a much better product. I hope this information is useful to your engineering, design, and product team.

One issue I see regularly is when I am not on a network and I need a feature to be on it isn't clear on how to set this a feature to toggle on by default. It would be great to see LaunchDarkly build logic and improve the intuitiveness around the offline case.

While it was great to see that LaunchDarkly has features for grouping certain population sizes. It would be great to see a better UX around labeling groups.

LaunchDarkly also lacks key experimentation features. Albeit, I see that more features are added regularly. Excited to see them!

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Feature flagging, experimentation, A/B testing, ramping for features for gaining samples and data for users using the product.

  ### 43. I loved Launch Darkly.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Achintya K. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

I love everything about Launch Darkly. There SDK APIs are very easy to use.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Sometimes the LD connection breaks for a brief moment but thats manageable for out services.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're able to rollout a feature for specfic platforms and and countries.

  ### 44. Exceptional Feature Flagging Solution For Modern Development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sahil S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

I really like how easy LaunchDarkly is to use. It lets us release new features exactly how we want, whether it's slowly to some users or all at once. Even though it has lots of useful options, it's not complicated. The dashboard is clear and everything is easy to find. I personally had a good experience navigating the dashboard

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

One thign that I'd like to see improve in LaunchDarkly is the documentation. The documentation is pretty decent but there were times when we've wished for clearer examples and more detailed explanations, especially for some of the advanced features

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LaunchDarkly provides solution in feature management, allowing us to easily rollout new features to specific user groups or environments. This has significantly reduced the many risks associated with feature releases and enhanced our ability to deliver updates more efficiently. We pretty much use this feature in all our new features and its pretty handy. Overall, LaunchDarkly's feature management and A/B testing capabilities have streamlined our development process and improved our ability to deliver impactful features to our users.

  ### 45. Deploying faster with Launchdarkly

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

As a backe-end developer, LaunchDarkly has increased the confidence and cadence of my deployments as I know rely on flags to easily preserve the old code while making sure that the rollback is a matter of a click. This has helped me a lot, specially for legacy code migrations, where all phases need to happen cautiously. Didn't know of the existance of migration flags when doing the first one, now I willing to try it out (docs are also grea)

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

New UI could make navigation for a flag through the environments confusing

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Faster deployments for new features and that it makes easier to test different scenarios within the different environments, increasing confidence in my deployments

**Official Response from Tia Wucher:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with LaunchDarkly. We're thrilled that our platform has helped you with faster deployments and testing different scenarios. We understand your feedback about the new UI and will work on making navigation more intuitive.

  ### 46. Comprehensive tool for feature flagging and experimentation!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wayland H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

I've used LaunchDarkly at a few companies now and have had a seamless experience every time. I love how straightforward it is and also how detailed their documentation is for the more complex features. I highly recommend LaunchDarkly as a product for other companies who don't want to worry about implementing their own experimentation or feature flagging capabilities.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

If I had to say something I dislike about LaunchDarkly, it would be how they organize the rules of whether the flag is turned on or not. It's a little bit confusing but if you poke around for a little bit, it does make sense.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like that it's a low-cost way to enable feature flagging. My company was hitting Redis to query flags and now we don't have to worry about performance cost. The determination of whether a flag is on or not is done offline which is amazing.

  ### 47. LaunchDarkly was and actually is a big game changer in our company.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kamil J. | Product Owner, Health, Wellness and Fitness, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

A lot of possibilities to manage your product. Now we are using it on a daily basis. It is really easy to use, and if you explore it more you will find more and more useful things. "Easy to learn, hard to master". It was really easy to implement it in our environment. Contact with support was always a pleasure (Aaron is the nicest person I ve ever met).

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Implementation process was a little tricky. Not from the technical side but organisational. We didn't know that we can create one project for all platforms etc.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to proceed to CI/CD. Now every team can work on its part of the product. Timelines and limits of regular upgrades do not stop them, they can do it alone. Fuckups on the production can be "fixed" quickly by switching off the flag, then the team has more time to investigate and fix the problem with no time pressure.

  ### 48. Great feature flag management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

We use LaunchDarkly on a daily basis and it is considered a core part of our development cycle. My engineers have found that once they understand the context, it is straightforward to place their code behind the flag they've created. Afterwards, we are able to easily strategize how we roll out to customers, whether it's to individual companies, % based rollout of en masse.
Additionally, use of LaunchDarkly has saved us in downtime/rollbacks as if we find that a feature outside of the flag is causing issues, we are able to quickly disable it with a simple configuration change. No need to staging a revert when we can just flip a switch.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

This is not a LaunchDarkly issue, but we have had to ensure that our development processes has a flag removal item scheduled to keep up with our flag management hygiene. It is easy to have numerous LD Flags go stale if we do not remove them once they are fully rolled out. Over time, this leads to unneccessary checks to flag enablement.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gives us a sense of security when we delivery items to production that we can roll them out in a more controlled manner.

  ### 49. Goot product works as expected with enough conditionals that make a/b testing good

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Asaf B. | software engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

makes FF easy to monitor, can have multiple values

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

the A/b functionality is not clear to me, OOTB how do i control % and see the logs of this

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

release of complex features in a manageable way

  ### 50. Good tool for feature flag management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Lauchdarkly is easy to use. It is straighforward to get onboarded. It allows us to release new features with confidence behind the flag, which derisk each release. We used Launchdarkly often for most of our feature releases that can impact the end users.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

It is expensive for each user. We have very limited license due to the cost, and not everyone can have access to it. It gets a bit challenging to track everything when we have more and more feature flags. We have seen cases that we have production outage due to the feature flag diffs between staging and production env.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to manage feature flags and turn on/off each feature with ease. We can quickly disable the feature if any issue is detected.
It allows us to gradually release features with a stable rollout strategy.
