"Powerful Feature Flags, Lacks Backend Setup Guidance"
What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?

I appreciate how LaunchDarkly's feature flags make it easy to manage feature releases. In cases where a solution needs modifications post-production, I can simply turn off the feature flag, apply changes in a lower environment, and redeploy without hassle. This ease of toggling features is a significant advantage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?

I find setting up LaunchDarkly initially challenging, especially when working on a back-end application using Node.js. There were environment-specific configuration issues, and there were no clear instructions on how to handle them. I had to rely on a colleague's configuration to resolve my issue. Additionally, the support provided wasn't very effective, as their suggested solutions didn't work. I also notice a lack of tutorials or videos that provide step-by-step instructions on how to use specific versions of the library, which would be beneficial for users like me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emily Coleman of LaunchDarkly

Thanks for your thoughtful feedback, Aadesh. We're glad to hear LaunchDarkly has made a difference in how you and your team manage production changes. We also appreciate your feedback about the setup experience; your account team will follow up on this to make sure you have everything you need!

"Powerful Feature Control, But UI Could Be More Intuitive"
What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?

I really like the features that LaunchDarkly provides. It is extremely helpful when releasing a feature and we need complete control over the roll-out/ rollback. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?

Sometimes the UI is not the most intuitive and it feels like I need to look for certain features that previously seemed easier to find. Also, targeting users can oftentimes be difficult. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Micaela Durkin of LaunchDarkly

"Great Feature Solutions, Complex New UI"
What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?

I appreciate LaunchDarkly's ease of use, especially the straightforward process for creating feature flags. It simplifies releasing new features and provides the ability to quickly disable them if issues arise. I find individual targeting and the UI very effective, with the targeting allowing for precise control over which users see specific features. Additionally, the ability to create allow and block lists is invaluable for ensuring specific user access. The rollout features and plan scheduling further streamline my workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?

I find the new user interface to be complex compared to the previous version. The old UI was simpler and easier to understand, making navigation and viewing variations straightforward. In the new UI, the main content area is smaller, with the left and right parts taking up a significant portion of the space, which makes it less intuitive to use initially. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emily Coleman of LaunchDarkly

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review, Krishna! We’re glad to hear you're putting targeting and scheduling to good use. We will pass along your feedback on the UI to our team to help improve the experience for you.

"Launch Darkley provides a very easy to use and super helpful Feature Flags platform"
What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?

The product is very helpful and very easy to use - Feature Flags are almost immediately updated in the code, I can easily control which environments receive which values and monitor the received values in different environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?

There are some small UI bugs which might make it harder to use - switch envs sometimes doesn't take effect, filtering feature flags based on name is slow Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Micaela Durkin of LaunchDarkly

Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re thrilled to hear that LaunchDarkly’s feature flags make it easy for you to manage environments and roll out new features seamlessly. We appreciate your note about slow filtering, feedback like this helps us improve the platform for everyone.

"The right size APM for our Medium-Sized Business"
What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?

Our team evaluated several APM products, but each time we found that they would require a significant investment of time and resources to learn, implement and maintain. That changed when we discovered LaunchDarkly’s APM product (formerly Highlight.io). From the start it felt like the right fit, covering the areas we needed visibility into without feeling overwhelming. The UI is intuitive and the metrics are straightforward and easy to follow.

The customer support has been excellent. The LaunchDarkly team has consistently been responsive to our questions, attentive during the sales process, and equally engaged after implementation.

Two features we turn to the most are: session tracking and session replay. Being able to view detailed session data alongside a visual playback of what the user experienced has been useful for troubleshooting. The ability to link session data directly to errors has been a significant improvement over our previous tools.

Another feature we’ve found useful is the Weekly Digest. It provides a high-level view of sessions, usage, and errors across multiple environments for the past week which is a great tool for managers and overseeing multiple applications and environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?

We have not really had any issues. As an early customer of the APM product, there were some issues initially getting all the various .NET frameworks running, but their customer support team handled those quickly and got us up and running. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emily Coleman of LaunchDarkly

Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed review! We’re especially glad our support team was able to help you get started quickly. Looking forward to continuing to work with you to make the product even better.

"Excellent change management software"
What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?

The UI is very sleek and overall quite intuitive - I don't need to think too much about where to find or access a feature, it just is where I expect it to be.

It's also easy to read at a glance - even from the list view page, I can see what state my flags are in for each environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?

A minor nitpick, but sometimes the site doesn't remember the environments that I want to see for a particular flag, and I'm forced to re-open each individual environment again to be able to switch between them. It's not a big deal, but it does slow me down occasionally when it does happen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emily Coleman of LaunchDarkly

Thanks for the great review! We’re glad to hear the UI and visibility into flag states are working well for your team, especially during beta rollouts. We appreciate the note on environment settings; we'll pass that detail along to the team.

"Intuitive UI with Reliable Feature Flagging"
What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?

I appreciate LaunchDarkly's intuitive and clean user interface, which simplifies our workflow. The documentation is good, ensuring an easy setup process. I value the ability to use feature flagging to release changes safely and confidently. Its integration with C# and JavaScript is seamless, aiding in smooth application development. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?

I dislike how group variants are allocated during percentage rollouts. When assigning percentages to different variants, the groups may change based on the percentage calculation, leading to inconsistency. For instance, if I have a distribution of 10% for variant one, 10% for variant two, and 80% for variant three, and I later adjust these percentages, the users initially allocated to one variant might end up switching to another. This crossover can cause confusion. It would be beneficial if users originally allocated in the initial groupings stayed consistent, even as the percentage allocations change. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emily Coleman of LaunchDarkly

Thanks for the detailed feedback, Ford! We’re glad to hear LaunchDarkly’s integration with C# and JavaScript have been working like you expected. We appreciate your note on percentage rollouts, and we'll definitely pass that feedback along.

"Reliable and Easy-to-Use Feature Flag Platform with Great Visibility"
What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?

LaunchDarkly has a clean and intuitive UX, making it easy to set up and manage feature flags. It’s highly reliable and integrates seamlessly into our workflow. I especially appreciate the flexibility in defining flag values (boolean, multivariate, targeting rules), the ability to preview flag changes before saving, and the visibility into who made changes and when. Comparing flags across environments during deployments is a huge time-saver, and being able to inspect how flags were evaluated helps with debugging and transparency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?

I sometimes feel limited in the depth of flag evaluation details available. I’d like to drill down further into how a flag was evaluated for specific users or contexts. It’s unclear whether this limitation is due to the platform itself or if I’m not using it correctly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emily Coleman of LaunchDarkly

Thank you for the detailed and thoughtful review! We're delighted that the tool is giving you the reliability and the flexibility you expected, but it's even better to hear that it's saving you time. We do have some additional functionality for deeper flag evaluations, but, depending on your current plan, it may be an add-on. Check out the documentation we've linked below and see if it's something that might give you the extra detail you're looking for. We also have observability capabilities as an add-on that provides application-level session replays, logs, traces, errors and metrics correlated with context and flag evaluation data (which it collects via a mechanism independent of data export). It is less complete than data export in that it only captures this data from applications that have integrated the observability plugins also, whereas data export is implicitly supported by all LaunchDarkly SDKs. Thanks again for the great feedback!

"Easy Setup, Intuitive UX, and Powerful Features"
What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?

I love how easy LaunchDarkly is to set up and manage. Its intuitive UX/UI makes it simple to use, and the powerful features give us great flexibility with feature flags. The ability to conduct A/B testing, individual targeting, and progressive rollouts greatly enhances our testing processes. The Slack integration is invaluable for real-time updates on feature flags changes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?

I dislike having to enable environment variables one by one. I wish all environment variables for different environments like dev, stage, and prod were enabled by default. From what I remember previously, all were shown by default, and a change was made that now requires me to enable or disable them individually. This change makes it cumbersome to know which flags are active, requiring more clicks and making the workflow less efficient compared to having a default overview of them all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emily Coleman of LaunchDarkly

Thanks for the thoughtful review, Steven! We’re glad to hear LaunchDarkly’s setup and UI are working well. It's easy to see why the Slack integration is so popular!

"LaunchDarkly in Practice: Safe Rollouts, Gradual Delivery, and Real Trade-offs"
What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?

Feature flag management is essential for enabling gradual rollouts, allowing teams to test new features in production environments safely. This approach also makes it easier to segment users, so specific groups can experience updates before a full release. By using these strategies, I can control who sees new features and monitor their impact, which helps ensure a smoother deployment process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?

When considering cost and value for smaller teams, it's important to note that the pricing can increase significantly as more feature flags are added. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Micaela Durkin of LaunchDarkly

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. We're so glad to hear LaunchDarkly is helping you manage gradual rollouts and safe deployments with more control and confidence!
