## About LaunchDarkly
Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Oakland, California, LaunchDarkly serves over thousands of enterprises, including a quarter of the Fortune 500. LaunchDarkly is the runtime control platform for the AI era, trusted by software teams to control AI-generated code and AI agents in production at any scale. The LaunchDarkly platform delivers runtime control through two solutions: CodeControl and AgentControl. CodeControl helps teams ship AI-generated code confidently. With CodeControl, teams can observe production behavior, make changes in real time, and limit exposure based on actual impact. Through a combination of industry-leading feature flags, progressive rollouts, real-time observability, experimentation, and automatic recovery, LaunchDarkly gives organizations the ability to move at AI speed without giving up control. AgentControl helps teams keep AI agents in check in production, blocking bad behavior and steering responses in real time. Teams can configure prompts and models before launch, monitor and observe live performance and behavior, and automatically take action—without redeploying. When agents make curious decisions, or when small prompt or model changes cause big issues, AgentControl detects and corrects them as they happen. With runtime control across code and agents, LaunchDarkly helps enable teams to ship AI-built software with confidence, govern agent behavior in production, optimize AI performance and cost, build self-healing systems, and experiment continuously. The result is faster release velocity, lower production risk, and the ability to continuously adapt software and AI systems without slowing down to stay safer.

  ### 17. Launch Darkly is a really good tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gordon C. | Sr. Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2025

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

I've heard engineers talk about how easy it is for them to put new features behind a feature flag in Launch Darkly. From the product side, its super easy to create segments of users. This has improved the way we manage our Alpha, Beta, and GA releases. I'm currently leading a huge intiative at the moment; I can not imagine doing this effectively without LD.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Their zapier integration is limited. We were attempting to completely automate our beta process leveraging Launch Darkly + Hubspot forms. We failed to do so because LD's zapier integration doesn't support Segments. We are exploring leveraging their public API to build a custom solution.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has helped us do a few things better. 1. We manage alpha and beta releases more effectively. 2. We hav avoided massive outages by leveraging percentage based rollouts 3. It has helped us reduced the risk of launching large features or intiatives in our customer.

When working a new feature, it easier to put that new feature behind a toggle and prevent that impacting the current code and easily deploy it when we feel like it.

**Official Response from Micaela Durkin:**

> Thank you for the review! We’re glad LaunchDarkly helps you easily manage features and toggle them on or off with confidence across your services.

  ### 19. Integrated wonderfully with our complicated backend architecture

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2025

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

LD was able to adapt to fit into our website’s multi-app architecture while maintaining data/results integrity. Their implementation team is best in class! They were incredibly helpful all along the way through implementation, as well as setting up our first tests.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

There have been small dislikes about certain parts of the UI, but they take our feedback and ACTUALLY make changes! Feedback doesn’t go into a black hole

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We primarily brought LD on for AB testing, but it has become our primary tool for feature flagging as well.

**Official Response from Emily Coleman:**

> We’re thrilled LaunchDarkly has integrated smoothly and that our implementation team made a strong impression. It’s great to hear your feedback is being heard and acted on, and we definitely couldn't do it without users like you, so thanks for making us better!

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2025

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

user level/ role level feature flag handling

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

easier way to adapt when there is % rollout - maybe also add shards where this is rolled out fleibility

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

easy maintainability for LD and feature rollout with Continuous delivery

**Official Response from Micaela Durkin:**

  ### 31. Good tool for managing feature flags.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcin P. | Lead Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2025

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

1. Allowing business users to field-test new features in production before enabling them for clients.
2. Enabling gradual rollouts for high-risk features, minimizing potential impact if issues arise.
3. Decoupling feature releases from development and deployment, so developers can merge tested features while product teams control when they go live.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Nothing really. It does good job managing feature flags. We only use it for feature flags, so can't comment on other features.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows the business to validate features in production environment before enabling such feature for Clients/Users.
It also ads the ability to deploy a new feature gradually, to beta tester clients first and then simply toogle the flag to enable that feature for other users.
Engineers don't need to worry about feature release schedule if a feature is behind a feature flag. This helps with continous integration/deployment practices. Business can decide when to enable features by managing feature flags.

  ### 32. Easy to use and integrate with the codebase

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pankaj K. | Engineering Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

LaunchDarkly is one of the most robust SaaS apps I have encountered. Its intuitive UI and easy-to-use interface make it easy for first-time users, too. The one thing that was outstanding was how easy it was to integrate with the codebase and documentation.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The current RBAC settings lack enough granularity as may be required in an enterprise setup.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LaunchDarkly is helping us with feature management and controlling feature releases in realtime.

**Official Response from Emily Coleman:**

> We're glad to hear LaunchDarkly was easy to use and integrate. Thank you for your feedback on how we could improve our RBAC settings and for being a customer!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2025

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

As a PM, I've appreciated the ease of use when setting up experiments and viewing results across multiple treatment groups, metrics and experiments running in parallel. I am looking forward to more data vis for results in the future.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

An improvement would be providing the ability to preview the experiment control and treatment groups natively before going live as a final quality assurance measure.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing the business to test multiple hypothesis about features that are being delivered, with the ability to roll back as per customer engagement with the primary metric.

**Official Response from Emily Coleman:**

> Thank you for your detailed feedback! We’re glad to hear how LaunchDarkly has supported your experimentation workflows. Your suggestions about previewing experiments before going live and more robust data visualizations are insightful. **Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2025

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

The context is so flexible that I don't need to deploy the application everytime; LD is simply powerful

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The number of connections is very limited for micro services environments

  ### 36. Very Useful and easy to use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2025

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

Very useful, reliable, and has good tooling. being able to see history of changes, evaluations, and code references especially is very helpful.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

"ready for code removal" flag is confusing and not accurate.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Feature flagging a new feature while testing.

  ### 37. Launch Darkly is a great service to toggle any feature

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Supriyanta P. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

1. It's a great tool for toggling features.
2. You can easily roll out or block a feature for specific customers without any hassle.
3. I use it daily, and it works smoothly with minimal impact on API latency.
4. Setting up a new LD flag takes only a minute.
5. It provides a rich SDK to integrate with Launch Darkly easily.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Nothing as such. Segments and Release features can be simplified.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'd point out two major problems that LD solves for my case,
1. We don't need to think about beta release to a small portion of customers. Just need to put the feature behind LD flag and control the flag from LD dashboard. That's it.
2. When we launch a new feature, we always put that feature behind LD flags. So that if something goes wrong, we don't need rollback anything in a hurry. Just toggle the LD flag by a single click. That would do the job.

  ### 38. Easy Launchdarkly Feature Flags

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arvind K. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

We have been using Launchdarkly feature flags for about 3 years now. We have been using them to run experiments, or as kill switches for various features. I would say, that they are straightforward to use. One thing that I like is how LaunchDarkly creates an event stream with the user's browser, and the value of the feature flag gets updated on all the clients as soon as you update the value of the feature flag.

We use it for almost every new feature that we build in the product, and we have easily integrated it with our MobX Library that is used for global state management, and it makes the integration even more simpler for the developers.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The new UI that LaunchDarkly recently launched for feature flagging is not something that I like, I had built muscle memory for using the tool hence it has become a little tough for me to use it.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- We use it to experiment with a new feature, and get analytics out of it before launching it for the entire user base.
- We are able to partially launch a feature to a subset of users, as we can very easily target to subset of users on the Product very easily using LaunchDarkly.
- Since LD uses an event stream, which modifies the value of the flag in the product as soon as it is updated from the LD Dashboard (without the need to refresh the page). We use use LD as a kill switch for features in which we not very confident about the implementation. With LD we are easily able to kill the code if anything goes south in real-time.

  ### 39. Separate your deploys from rollouts

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zachary M. | Principal Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2025

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

The ease of use of creating flags that are separating our feature rollouts from deployment is the largest factor of our use case. Implementation is a simple library and we're able to integrate it into each of our apps easily.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

There are still some cultural issues of utilizing LD's flags when we probably didn't need to which adds more complexity to a system.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The separation of features from deployment and understanding the reason for degredation or improvement is how it benefits us the most right now.

  ### 40. Experience with LaunchDarkly: Feature Flag Management and Controlled Rollouts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Togi Kiran K. | Senior Software Development Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

I like LaunchDarkly's ability to seamlessly manage feature flags and control rollouts, enabling quick, safe deployments and A/B testing without requiring code changes or restarts. Its real-time toggling, comprehensive analytics, and role-based access controls make it invaluable for dynamic feature management and reducing risk during releases.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

One downside of LaunchDarkly is its complexity at scale, particularly when managing a large number of feature flags across multiple environments. It can be challenging to maintain flag hygiene, and the cost can increase significantly as the usage grows. Additionally, the UI might feel cluttered when dealing with numerous flags, making it difficult to find specific ones quickly.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LaunchDarkly helps streamline A/B testing and feature management by allowing us to toggle features on and off without deploying new code. This enables faster and safer releases, reduces deployment risks, and facilitates experimentation with different versions of features in real-time. It also allows us to target specific user segments, which helps in gathering insights and feedback, ultimately leading to better product decisions and user experiences.

**Official Response from Tia Wucher:**

> It's great to hear how LaunchDarkly is helping streamline A/B testing and feature management for you. We're committed to providing a seamless experience and will take your feedback into consideration for future enhancements.

  ### 41. a Good Software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wenjie S. | sde, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

1.	Feature Flag Management: LaunchDarkly’s ability to easily create, manage, and deploy feature flags at scale is a huge asset, enabling you to roll out new features gradually and safely without requiring code deployment.
	2.	User Segmentation: The ability to target specific groups of users with different feature sets allows for more personalized and controlled releases, which is great for testing and experimentation.
	3.	Real-time Updates: Feature flags can be toggled in real-time, giving instant feedback and control over feature releases, which is helpful in responding quickly to bugs or performance issues.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

1.	Learning Curve: For users new to feature management tools, there can be a learning curve when setting up and managing feature flags effectively, especially if your team isn’t familiar with this type of platform.
	2.	Complexity with Large Projects: Managing a large number of feature flags across multiple projects can become a bit complex, and it may be challenging to maintain flag hygiene (e.g., removing outdated flags).

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Feature flags can be toggled in real-time, giving instant feedback and control over feature releases, which is helpful in responding quickly to bugs or performance issues.

  ### 42. LaunchDarkly is proven to be an indispensable tool for managing feature releases

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sahil C. | Senior Software Development Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

One of the biggest benefits for me has been the ability to easily toggle features on or off in real-time during periods of service degradation. When performance issues arise, I can disable non-essential features instantly, keeping critical parts of the service running smoothly while we troubleshoot. This has saved us from several potential outages. The integration process was overall smooth as well.

The ability to roll out features incrementally has allowed us to test new functionality in production without fully exposing it to all users. If something doesn’t go as planned, rolling back is as simple as flipping a switch — no redeployment needed. This has reduced the stress around releases, knowing that we always have a safety net.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

LD generates a lot of logs by default, which can be handled better. So, I have to disable un-neccessary logs myself for each of the service.

While it’s easy to get started with basic feature flags, there’s a bit of a learning curve when it comes to more advanced use cases like complex targeting or running experiments.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LaunchDarkly's user targeting has been a game changer for us. We can control who sees which features, allowing us to release to specific user segments or internal teams first. This is especially helpful for A/B testing or when introducing new functionality to power users before a wider release.

The dashboard is easy to navigate, and even non-technical team members have been able to manage feature flags without any issues. The UI provides a clear, real-time view of what’s happening across environments, making it easy to spot problems early.

  ### 43. Powerful Real Time Feature Flagging

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amrit V. | Software Engineer 2, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

The feature flagging system, particularly its ability to act as a kill switch, is incredibly useful. I also love the percentage rollout feature and the ability to add multiple variations within a single flag. Real-time flag updates that enable instantaneous UI changes are a standout feature.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The new UI feels a bit confusing, probably because I got so accustomed to the previous version. Additionally, the updated UI could benefit from an onboarding guide or lessons to help users get up to speed quickly.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LaunchDarkly helps us streamline feature management by allowing us to release new features behind flags, ensuring we can easily turn them off if needed. This flexibility reduces the risk of deploying untested or problematic features. Custom attributes enable us to target specific teams and users, providing more personalized feature rollouts. Segments are used to manage large groups of teams, making feature targeting more efficient. With LaunchDarkly’s APIs, we can update these segments in the background, adding backend automation to the process. Additionally, the group-by feature allows us to organize experiments by teams, improving our ability to track performance and gather insights.

**Official Response from Tia Wucher:**

> We're glad to hear that you find our feature flagging system, kill switch, percentage rollout, and real-time flag updates useful. We appreciate your feedback on the new UI and will take it into consideration for future improvements. Thank you for sharing how LaunchDarkly is helping streamline your feature management and providing more personalized feature rollouts.

  ### 44. LaunchDarkly is a good tool for some

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2025

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

LaunchDarkly has proved a very useful tool for me and my team professionally. It is easy to use (once set up) and can give the team a variety of deployment options. We can deploy a feature without fear of a forced rollback when something goes wrong, we can also test with small audiences rather than deploying to everyone, everywhere, all at once.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Sometimes flags can end up cluttering the code, it would be nice if there was a way to automatically generate cleanup issues on github after a certain amount of time.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LaunchDarkly solves the problem of how to deploy to a specific audience rather than everyone at once. Without LD it woul dbe very very hard to do this.

  ### 45. Really great for maintaining dynamic configs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lalith S. | Software Development Engineer 2, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

LaunchDarkly is an excellent tool for managing all your dynamic configurations. It allows you to easily set up rules that govern how configurations respond based on requests, which is incredibly helpful. Integration with any service is seamless, and implementing custom or fallback handling is straightforward. I use LaunchDarkly every day!

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

As LaunchDarkly supports adding complex rules, the evaluation latency would be directly proportional to the rule complexity, so the person who sets up different flags should be aware of the consequences, especially when the flag check is in the path of every request.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me, the main problem that LaunchDarkly solves is the Dynamic config management which is especially useful in case of feature rollout by either dynamically enabling/disabling the feature at runtime or A/B testing the feature just for a set of users. Configuring and maintaining all this at a single place is really helpful for me.

  ### 46. Easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2025

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

The learning curve was practically non-existent — we were up and running in no time. Managing feature flags is incredibly straightforward, and the dashboard makes it easy to control rollouts across multiple environments.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

At the moment, there’s nothing I dislike — it’s been working smoothly for our needs.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes easy to manage feature flags and variations.

**Official Response from Emily Coleman:**

> Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We're especially excited to hear that your onboarding and learning curve was quick and easy; that's the kind of experience we want for all our customers!

  ### 47. Easy to use dynamic feature flag solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chamika D. | Principal Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

It's easy to use and supoport different types of values like Boolean, String, Number and even JSON. The SDKs are there to integrate in almost all the technologies. We use a lot of feature flags in different places like frontend and backend and it works seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The user's (IDs) can be set in the interface. Hence our IDs are UUIDs, they are not identifiable after adding them to the feature flag. Ideally, we should be able to put a "display text" along with the IDs.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We do continous delivery of various features but need to control who can see/use these features. So we expose the feature for the internal users first and release it to public. LauchDarkly helps to solve this issue in each stage like exposing it to the developers first, then the internal teams and to the public at the end.

  ### 48. Seamless Feature Management and rollouts with LaunchDarkly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rohit D. | SDET, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

LaunchDarkly excels at providing seamless feature flag management, enabling quick, controlled rollouts and real-time feature toggling without code redeploys. Its intuitive interface and robust integrations make managing features across environments a breeze.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

The platform can be a bit pricey for smaller teams, and the learning curve for advanced features might be steep for new users. However, the value it offers justifies the cost for larger projects.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LaunchDarkly is solving the challenge of safely deploying features in a fast-paced development environment. By using feature flags, we can roll out, test, and manage new features without disrupting the user experience. It allows us to quickly toggle features on or off, run A/B tests, and target specific user segments, all while reducing the risk of bugs or downtime. This speeds up our release cycles and helps us deliver more reliable updates to our customers.

**Official Response from Tia Wucher:**

> We're thrilled to hear that you find LaunchDarkly's feature flag management and rollouts seamless and efficient. Our goal is to provide a user-friendly interface and robust integrations to make feature management across environments a breeze.

  ### 49. Feature flags and why they're so easy with LaunchDarkly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ahmad A. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2024

**What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?**

The UI is so easy to navigate. Managing feature flags for different environments in the same page is so seamless and allows engineers to quickly figure out which features are enabled in which environment in a service.

Setting up the feature flags in the code was extremely simple and allowed us to integrate it with all our systems since all tech stacks were supported.

Launchdarkly is also very budget friendly and is very great for new devs.

**What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?**

Not much to say when it comes to cons. Maybe more integrations with Slack and whatnot to alert if a flag was turned on or off.

**What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Turning on and off features based on specific requirements. Sometimes the features need to be turned on at a specific date and sometimes business changes happen and we need to turn off specific responses.
