I appreciate having normal names for flags along with code-names, so our CRM can display which flags a customer is part of without it looking like code. I also like the segments feature because I can group customers into a segment and add them to feature flags, ensuring I've got them all. If needed, I can add a customer to the segment without having to edit a ton of different flags. **What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?** I find it a bit annoying that when a new flag is created, we always have to name the true/false values. They used to be labeled enabled/disabled by default, so half our flags are one or the other. Also, when you turn it on, it's on for everyone by default. My team uses LD flags for a few use cases and we've managed to use it as our flag system of choice for the past while. It's also nice that it has numerous integrations as we use the slack app + webhooks for notifications. Easy to use in code too but I wasn't involved in the setup within my team, just reading flags directly. **What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?** I'm not a fan of the whole UI redesign earlier this year because I had to relearn the workflows I was used to and haven't gained anything subsequently. Also, the flag history feature should be improved for JSON flags because it's difficult to see exactly what changed without looking at details / pressing more buttons. This makes bisecting an impactful change more difficult. I was implemented a webhook integration with LD and the API docs for what you send can be improved. Customer support is always there to help, my team has been on multiple calls to solve certain problems we had. We use LD for every AB test, feature flagging users and giving our users certain versions of the app. Our developers integrate LD into their code without hassle. **What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?** There is a limit to the number of users that can be added manually through .csv which is quite important when we have to do AA test and secure that our cohorts are actually random. 50-50 split isn't really random and its quite unpredictable. Beyond just feature flagging, you have the ability to deeply control how and when features are delivered to your customers, with tools to automate stale flags and code cleanup. They have integrations with all the software that we use which has made integrating that much simpler. Beyond that, we have a very custom implementation which takes into account cache affecting feature flags on our edge compute platform. The Launch Darkly team have been there to answer our questions and provide hands on support every step of the way. They even took on the task of training our experimentation team on how to use the software. We have very strict requirements on our edge platform to return results in a tiny timeframe, the Launch Darkly API is incredibly fast, reliable and suitable for this usecase. **What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?** It's very difficult to find things I dislike, but if I had to dig deep I would say that it would be useful to have the ability to separately handle a "holdout" group percentage for each flag, along side an active and inactive state. The process to do this at the moment is farily manual and involves creating a prerequisite flag alongside the experiment. Due to our custom implementation, it would be an advantage to be able to fetch the "tags" associated with the flags in the same fetch. Currently, we have to handle this ourselves (due to a strict requirement to return results within a tiny timeframe). **What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our website receives over 400 million user sessions every year, so releasing features can be a risky endevour! Launch Darkly helps you reduce the risk and measure the impact of releasing features in production. Since metrics can be fed directly into Launch Darkly, you can setup automatic safety mechanisms which switch features off when a relevant metric falls below acceptable thresholds. We closely measure our DORA metrics, and Launch Darkly has helped us improve these, especially with Mean Time to Recovery. Before we had implemented Launch Darkly, our experimentation team had little to no autonomy when it came to changing percentages for slow rollouts. Infact, it was a long and drawnout process which involved a lot of steps and a lot of waiting between those steps. This gave product fine grained control over when to release a feature. It also helped with targeting a population and running experiements. It also gives control over schduling releases. It helps co-ordinate multiple feature releases. **What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?** Launch darkly UI application can be unintutive for product managers. It also needs a better visual representaion of targeting for feature flags. **What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?** Helps in Beta testing. Experimentation. It has helped us selectively rollout new features and easily measure metrics to those roll outs. **What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?** Overall the platform is easy to use, however it would be great to selectively transfer settings such as flags or experiments across different environments or a way to "publish" from a dev/stage environment to production. **What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?** LaunchDarkly is able to solve our needs to selectively roll out new features required by brands which have enabled a decoupled engineering and product development from deployment comms with our brands. ### 47.
