One big advance as well is the constant availability of different country support structure, that in timely and accurate manner solve questions and problematics, either by remote support either by remote connections. **What do you dislike about LabWare LIMS?** after years and different experience in different situation, i did not find anything to dislike, with opportune tuning, it fully satisfy all needs that come out. On version 8th looks like also it has been improved the appearance that in previous version were still in 90 style. if we would be forced to find an area of improving, the only point of focus could be the use of crystal report, that on my opinion it need to be modified for allow user to generate report in a more friendly way **Recommendations to others considering LabWare LIMS:** I do consider LLW LIMS a real valid support for all day by day needs of Laboratory, suggesting to company to extend the use of this tool in all our subsidiary. Therefore it became natural to recommend to any other to app ly LW LIMS inside their laboratory if they was safety, security good data management in a easy and professional way. Any case i suggest to make an effort and install a full suite, including statistical packages and ISO 17025 adds **What problems is LabWare LIMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Beside the standard laboratory use of the lims, in pair of occasions system solve some strong needs, some companies where worked, was not available any system for monitoring the employees presence and for schedule presences (holydays, courses...) with opportune modifications and arrangement with LW lims we were able to arrange an internal administrative system for personnel and timesheet generations. Great benefit was an easy way to collect and organize data of laboratories, either coming form lab instruments either from on line analyzer. Another big advantage is the easy way to share and receive data with many external systems. Optimization of chemicals and spares parts is another important function that allowed me to safe money and avoid to duplicate purchases. Implementing the ISO 17025 controlling package, allowed me to obtain the laboratory accreditation in most easy way and provide a set of control for better validate the results published. In some companies where i worked it was difficult to have available an official way for monitoring and manage various report and study realized from laboratory, in this case LW LIMS come in our help providing the Document Management System, an internal functionality that allow to control and verify the life cycle of any document initiate inside this patch, from the first issuing, revision and final authorizations, all stages are monitored and consultable. Usage of this DMS and patch for document automatic compilation make faster all reports generations inside the laboratory, maintain in any case a strong control on document quality. Las but not least using the auditing internal system, we can have the complete control of all LIMS environment, verify and assuring that all action done on sample or any other lims aspect are monitored and controlled, leaving the system in a really safety and sure situation. ### 2. It can be easily integrated to ERP systems. It can be seamlessly interfaced with instruments and chromatography data systems. It has helped us to manage lab investigations very accurately. It also has a built in functionality to chart and identify data trends. It provides detailed and comprehensive auditing of data which meets the demands of agencies like FDA, MHRA, etc., in GMP and GLP laboratories. Different types of lab solutions can be maintained using inventory management. The extensively designed storage location and tracking module helps to track the location of the samples, inventories, etc,. User roles and functions can also be well defined. LabWare also has highly skilled consultants who always provide excellent customer support service. The training services are also very good. The community forum which comprises of LabWare users is very helpful along with the different knowledge tracks, technical manuals and system reference guides. **What do you dislike about LabWare LIMS?** We think very highly of LabWare LIMS and the positive change that it can bring about in the laboratory processes. So there are no dislikes. **What problems is LabWare LIMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Using LabWare LIMS, we were able to automate all of our lab processes. We have used it to minimize manual work in the labs. We have used it to maintain all the product specifications. We have used to extensively for reporting purposes. Interfacing with instruments has helped us to cut down the need for manual result entry. We have used it to maintain the chain of custody for samples. Inventory manager has helped us to maintain a clear record all the standards, reagent, media etc. along with its consumption details. We also use it to print labels. ### 3. It's graphics is a little outdated! **Recommendations to others considering LabWare LIMS:** A dedicated LabWare Lims Administrator that can attend to CEC and has coding skills is strongly advised. **What problems is LabWare LIMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** With LabWare we can manage all the analytical workflow from sampling to report send to the customer. You can import data directly from instruments and manage instruments activities. In addition you can have a full integration with your ERP. Many modules (Free) and pre-built functionality templates (requires paying for consulting time to configure) to help meet a variety of needs and the company's continuous improvement and development of functionality to meet customers needs. A ton to love really. Very flexible options for hosting with them or on prem and a Varity of options for using them for system admin/development. Great user group support community for admins. **What do you dislike about LabWare LIMS?** Clunky and outdated interface especially in the desktop version (but also web): Examples - File attachments, HTML and RTF Fields that don't show you anything and you have to click into them to even view let alone edit (understandable in result entry...but pretty much anywhere else is insane). You can somewhat work around this with visual workflows but with way too much work. If I have a HTML field in a project template (for instance) I should be able to see the contents of that field and edit it like any other application. Also no Spell Check native??? That's nuts. Think less friction for end users (and admins/developers for that matter). We don't have time to be doing any more clicks than necessary. The dedication to improving the software with minimal impact to existing install base is admiral but might be causing Labware to fall behind. Documentation is good in some cases and spotty in others and sometimes frustratingly absent or disjointed. **Recommendations to others considering LabWare LIMS:** Come with a very good presentation of your business process, workflows and requirements. They can do anything you need but having a clear picture to give them of exactly how you expect things to work will save you pain later. **What problems is LabWare LIMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Pretty complicated customization to meet business process workflows and reporting. Modules to run a certain testing program that we've had to customize heavily due to a world class process we use that's unlike any other company; it's work to have the customization in place but the functionality within labware to do so that is also directly in the same system as our lab means we don't have to have a whole system build from scratch. ### 5. With the LabWare implementation we were able to reduce the use of paper based systems and now we have the complete lifecycle of all the samples under control. All the Departments can view in real time the lot results thanks to a connection between excel spreadsheets to a view developed in the LIMS DB ### 6. Although we can create and use analysis, the coding of complex calculations is currently locked down from day to day users **Recommendations to others considering LabWare LIMS:** We tried a couple of support services for the product, they all proved to not be very knowledgeable with all difficult tasks going to LabWare consultants, making the in-between service a waste of time. Having the ability to quickly generate reports of how many samples or projects were completed over a period of time is useful, especially to upper management. I can customize the system to handle changing requirements. Also, depending on the modules used or business purpose (R&D vs Manufacturing), there are multiple ways to achieve the same result. The system can be changed to adapt to the business unit strategy. For instance, you can modify specific tables for product specifications, product details, analyses to support your ways of working. **What do you dislike about LabWare LIMS?** The ELN system is based on SpreadSheetGear. There are some differences with SpreadsheetGear vs Excel that must be accounted for when using ELN. This is not a huge dislike as it has been, in my experience, very easy to overcome those differences. **Recommendations to others considering LabWare LIMS:** Explore all available modules and keep in mind there are multiple ways to implement a requirement. Choose the one that best fits your needs! **What problems is LabWare LIMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Pharmaceutical manufacturing requirements for data capture. I have been configuring the system to allow users to switch from a paper based system to an electronic based system for capturing scientific data and result calculation. Some of the benefits include improved efficiency to record data and see trends. Also although out of the box the system has significant functionality, it was impressive how easy it was to modify or add workflows to meet our specific needs, without the need to consultants or specialists, but by simple configuration changes or adding our own functions in LIMS Basic. Having implemented and worked on several LIMS/ELN products, this one stands out. **What do you dislike about LabWare LIMS?** Using a cheaper outsourced service to perform some of the configuration turned out to be very costly requiring significant re-work. There is a good culture of knowledge sharing. The consultants from LabWare have been really knowledgeable. **What do you dislike about LabWare LIMS?** Don't like use of Citrix, it's an extra layer prone to incidents and disruptions in our environment. We are trying to implement WebLims to address this. Don't like the User Interface/design/Visual Workflow - it's been a challenge for users to adapt and they don't find it intuitive. The learning curve is higher than it needs to be if the UI was improved. There is a lot of flexibility with the configuration and this is a double-edge sword, that means the developers need some style guide to keep a consistent look and feel. Would be good if UI best practices/style guide were available for re-use. Need a way to easily archive data when it's no longer legally required to be retained. Need a way to easily access the data for analytics and reporting outside the database. After a few weeks of training, you start to learn to deal with the clumsiness of the design. **What do you dislike about LabWare LIMS?** Not intuitive at all. Tiny tiny fonts make it hard to discern one lot # from another. Trying to add projects requires a new project for each sample, even though they are a part of a sample set. And once you add the samples, there is no real link between the project number and lab # without going out one screen and to another. Adding another set of labels after you've received the samples took me an hour to figure out. If I'm receiving a set, I should be able to reprint off a 'recently received' screen, instead of digging through the whole thing, then asking a coworker to help out. **Recommendations to others considering LabWare LIMS:** There is a desperate need for a Lab System that is easy for users to use and this one falls short. Due to that lack of GOOD lab programs, you need to work past the issues with the input of this system to get it to work with your needs. In a dream world, there would be less need for complicated setups to log into samples, then get a list of tests needed to perform on those samples, and a way to enter results. **What problems is LabWare LIMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are coordinating tests and samples with various plants with Corporate. Benefit is to have those samples logged in as a tech, and see the results on one program.
