It gives you a means to create an interactive platform for your team to collaborate on without having to learn coding. In my case use it is a secondary software that allows the company to effeciently manage a growing team and address the primary software's short comings for some of the most riskiest aspects of our line of business. With knack, our growth is manageable and there is a degree of team member effeciency that allows us to stay adminstratively lean. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Knack? I had to learn by doing as it can be hard to wrap your head around all the interactions and work arounds. From figuritively shaking records to get formulas to work or the dance that you need to perform to pull information from one record to another, there is a way but it is complex to get there. I dislike that I can't park a SaaS on a domain and not have it revert to the knack host. I have told them this feedback multiple times without it being addressed. This kinda matters when trying to resell or not freak your consumer by jumping them to another domain. It also has terms and conditions implications. I ultimately have concluded to learn coding and build it from the ground up. I think knack is good for those who only want to wade in instead of diving into the deep end. I don't regret finding, using and depending on Knack. I just wish it could be the full solution for what I am specifically trying to do, build an EHR SaaS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Knack solving and how is that benefiting you? Knack's use cases are many. We use it as a secondary software for finding contractors of varios qualities and availability. The search feature enables us to have multiple coordinators facilitating this at the same time. It allows for developing HR training modules for new hires. It allows us to download from our primary software, a crappy EHR, and upload data that we can extend off of and actually make usable, interactive and something we can depend on. Knack is an online database application platform that is superb for creating our database objects depending on our client procurements. It is easy to migrate our pre-existing databases to Knack with its import feature, which ensures record mappings and key validations. It provisions inline editing so that we can edit our records simply by click and edit rather than reloading the platform to reflect the changes. I don't find anything to dislike about Knack. The best thing about Knack is its capabilities to create multiple database cluster applications which can be integrated into a cordial platform provided by Knack. This process helps me to collect memory logs, process interactions, and transaction requests which are key performance metrics to evaluate the optimization strategies for our enterprise applications. It has brilliant load balancing implementations which automatically allocate resources based on our incoming workload. Navigation features are convenient, and we can guide over our application. No User Limits - Most database softwares count customers as users. So if you build a customer dashboard, where each customer has to register can get really crazy. This is one of the reasons we first started using knack because we can have 10,000 customers access their accounts and it's still the same low price. Build complex databases with very little code knowledge - Every business is a little different, but organizing your business and creating processes around different stages is super easy. If you connect it into something like Integromat, you can sync informations across all your systems and have lots of complex triggers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Knack? Knack requires some getting used to to build stuff. It's very rigid in how to associate data, so you need to do a lot of work arounds to do some tricky things. Almost anything can be done, but it is not always intuitive on how to do it. As objects get larger with lots of fields, latency errors start to occur within the api causing lots of errors. Update 1 year later: Weve continued to work wtih knack and build other applications. However, the 503 Upstream errors has made me change my mind about recommending it to others. We are using Integromat to move data between softwares and into knack. As we've built out our applications and added functionality the upstream errors have become unbearable. On one day this year we had over 100 upstream errors. We have tasked an employee to review and resolve these errors but you can imagine that doing that across 100+ scenarios would take up almost their entire day. The purpose of building an app is grow it in functionality as your business grows. If Knack is your primary database, you will no doubt at some point need to manipulate the data or add records from outside resources. If this is your intent, then I would else where. We use knack to not only track these statuses, but track efficiency and move data to different softwares. It has become our central source of truth for all our applications. Since it's easy to use, we can hire lower level developers to maintain and create automations within the business. Non-coders can even help. I needed a database for the company I am working with to communicate site updates between office and site personnel. I enjoyed the ease of creating a live database from scratch. Without coding (or any knowledge of coding languages). Just had to spend a couple of minutes surfing around the tutorials and here we go, had a completely working database up and running. It is compatible with most phones, iPads, and computers. So I did not worry about compatibility. Most of the functions I required and the pages I needed were straight forward. The help section and tutorials are amazing. You can create forms that send auto emails to your users or your clients. You can also set up tracking so you can track what your users do. And the best thing is, you have a backup of your database every single day. I messed up some data records in a day but was reversed by Knack support team and everything came back to normal. When you want to add a feature, usually it takes some time till Knack Team can develop it. Otherwise you have to use a professional developer, which is sometimes expensive.
