What do you dislike?

Our team forecasts slightly differently than most organizations, and as such tieing forecast with actual assignments has been a difficult transition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are solving efficiency problems with month-end billing and allowing the PS team to control our business rather than relying on the finance department Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Kimble has enabled us to manage our business in a much more focussed and efficient way. We can now manage each of our key processes in a measurable way and report on them so we understand exactly where we are as a business; where we are winning and where we are losing and need to improve. We never had a true picture of what was going on before whereas now we do and with less effort, which means we have more time for our people and our customers.

Kimble is helping drive a different ethos and behaviour within our business.

Furthermore, the business is not run by a small team in isolation any more, Kimble has allowed us to disseminate and delegate tasks effectively so that our core processes and operational are no longer in the heads of one or two people. This has had a dramatic effect on how our employees understand our business and what drives us to be successful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There is the occasional function that seems a little clunky but these are now extremely rare and the new Lightning version and summer release are really fantastic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Try to go with the standard solution as much as possible. The guys who designed Kimble really do understand the services business and unless you have a compelling business benefit to do so, leave the Kimble processes as standard and change your internal processes. This will help you be better supported and will lower your TCO as upgrades etc will be much simpler. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Kimble has allowed us focus on the areas we need to as a business. When we first installed Kimble we quickly understood that we had improve at our demand planning, sales forecasting and account management (particularly payment of invoices). Kimble has enable us to improve in all of these areas to the degree where we have one key focus for improvement now and this is not linked directly to a specific operational improvement. So Kimble helped us identify the issue but cannot solve it for us - that is down to a cultural shift and change of approach. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Through implementation and ongoing use, we have received constant support from Kimble Support. Any queries have been answered and any issues found have always been worked on with urgency. The ongoing support from Pia De Almeida, Lucy Butterton and Russell Osman has been a highlight of our company working with Kimble, while at times it can be a complicated system to get used to, we cannot fault the help we've received.

We have ongoing weekly calls with Kimble Support and have done so for the past 6 months to ensure all processes are working as intended. I'm also very thankful for Russell Osman's ongoing support and time with some bugs we've been experiencing, he has put aside many hours to sit in calls and resolve issues we've had.

Pia De Almeida and Lucy Butterton have set aside a lot of time to talk through new features, help us with tickets and overall improve our understanding of Kimble. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Upon implementation it was clear that some processes in Kimble weren't the most fluid. It was quite difficult to get our entire company onboard with using this system as at first glance it's not the most user-friendly, however we've had the ongoing support from Kimble Support to help alleviate the issues and confusion that can come with using Kimble. Now having used Kimble for 6 months, I can say that what appears to be confusing at first is just a learning curve. There's still some processes that could be improved/streamlined and Kimble Support have listened to our suggestions and are in the process of adding some new features that may benefit our company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We did not have software/CRM where our company had managed Resourcing so Kimble has been of great help in terms of Resource Management. We've also been using Kimble for it's great report system, for our Pipeline reports and utilization reports. Many areas of our business have been streamlined and improved due to the features mentioned. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The integration with Salesforce and our Accounting system (Sage Intacct) makes the transition from an opportunity to an actively managed project, to producing financial statements much more smooth. The ability to customize and template projects is a huge time saver, and the ability to see ongoing projects and drill down into why the projections are changing is a game changer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The integrations and migrations are still clunky. As a non-profit, there is still a lot of work to be done to handle grants (no way to appropriate overhead, no storage of the grant funds vs the release, no engagement cap, only element caps). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We can now project manage in a transparent way. Previously, we had no insight into a project once it was sold until it closed and we saw the final profitability numbers. Its great to switch over to being more readily reactive, and soon proactive, to get our projects on track. The ability to look back at the data and begin to pinpoint where we were wrong in scoping is a huge asset. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Kimble is constantly including innovations, new functionalities that can adapt easily to the changing business needs.

Functionalities allow covering the end-to-end process of the Project Management.

The high quality customer service that Kimble provides and the promptly response, make it easy to communicate any doubt or malfunction we may encounter.

The close relationship with our Customer Care Manager makes it a lot easier the understanding of new releases as well as the sharing of our suggestions / requests for future enhancements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The interfacing with other systems sometimes is not that easy to manage and consequently the data may not be consistent across all the different company information systems. We appreciate this is an ad-hoc extra work to do and we are happy we always have the right support when needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Kimble has been supporting us for may years now, helping us to meet our business needs and introducing new functionalities that make the tool each release more valuable. I highly recommend it as a complete PSA tool that is in continuous improvement and with high quality of support. It's an escalable tool that can adapt to any company size. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The benefit to have a unique system for most of the end users within the company, allowing a better project end-to-end management.

Great visibility to control resource and financial data. Being able to report real live data is key for business decision making, this is possible with Kimble. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Kimble is our one stop shop for all activities and processes that support project delivery. By jumping in with both feet and using it wherever possible we always know where to go to find the latest information and can leverage that to support internal and external efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Whilst the data in Kimble is great and the reports in Salesforce very useful, truly interactive dash-boarding remains fairly limited. We are hopeful that Tableau and Salesforce will fill this void in the near future. Excel happily steps in where the reporting stops but fingers crossed Einstein Analytics will help remove that need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As a Professional Services organisation, our people are our business and this helps track all of our projects, people and financials in an almost real time basis. The advanced resource planning lets us stay ahead of the recruitment game as much as possible and allows us to spot spare capacity that can be made available to clients as soon as it becomes available. What do you like best?

The most important part is having the vast majority of company information in one flexible place. I also enjoy constant stream of improvements for this app.

I really enjoy it's how customizable it is and how many different types on configuration elements, projects it supports.

2020 UPDATE: After another year of using Kimble software, I am quite happy with the amount of improvements we were able to suggest and receive. I also think integrating new lightning interface will positively reflect on our productivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

1. Legacy UI elements

Constant stream of updates means that old and new functionalities coexist next to each other. This is good. What is not good is that they sometimes have different UIs and adhere to different UI guidelines.

2020 UPDATE: this can still be an issue, but it looks like lightning will solve this.

2. System limits

Additionally, sometimes the limits of the system are a bit unclear - especially for larger configurations, projects etc. We have to learn them on the fly. However, this is more inherent of Salesforce itself, as far as I know. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is used to forecast my company's development in real time.

It can be used as in-depth time reporting tool with excellent analytical capabilities.

It is also excellent option to capture and cover financial information and objects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I like that it can be configured to model our various service offerings to reduce the time our PMs need to set up projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Because it is so configurable, there is a LOT to learn about its various configuration points. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Take your time setting up Kimble properly in the beginning. Once you have resources defined and projects in flight, it can be difficult to make changes that are retroactive. Ask your Kimble implementation team any questions you have about financial modeling (you definitely want to get these set up properly out of the gate). If you have individual contributors (aka time trackers) who typically work non-8-hour days, ask about Time Pattern Variants and everything else that you will want to set up to take advantage of this time-modeling feature. Once you have Kimble configured properly, it is a joy to work with! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We're getting insight into utilization across regions, where our individual contributors each may work a different number of hours based on their location. Kimble suggests resources for filling projects to help balance utilization and prevent over-utilization and hence burnout. We're able to use the data from Kimble to make financial decisions for upcoming periods. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The resource schedule, especially the usage view, helps to make sure our team is deployed effectively. The Operational Management dashboard also helps us to understand the resource burn ensuring the profitability and efficiency when completing a project.

Because we have a very small implementation team, we really appreciate the exceptional consultation by our Customer Success Manager as well as the timely responses by Kimble support team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Kimble onboarding is still a big learning curve for our new team member. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Definitely recommend Kimble and be sure to ask for a product demo, especially the integration with other platforms for accounting, human resources, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Kimble enables us to increase the resources efficiency with accurate time reporting and forecasting. It also allows accessing to real-time Salesforce opportunities and proposals. Kimble reports also help us with transition away from time-consuming and manual workflows using Excel. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I like the all round flexibility of the tool. When we compare this to our legacy tool it's streets ahead of the game and provides us with detail visibility across all sectors. UI is great as is usability. We compared this against 4-5 market competitors before moving ahead with Kimble around 2 years ago. Great support and ongoing training from the Kimble Team. Useability is great with Salesforce and the tool gives us the detailed view we want over our PS Team from Planning, to revenue/forecasting to timesheets and now invoicing. It's given us great ability to manage our projects and report back to relevant teams easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes too many clicks are required when navigating around.

Random bugs occur (fixed by refreshing page)

After updates/upgrades fields move around for no apparent reason. (See most recent release whereby all the items on the timesheet reversed into a different order)

Lates Release hangs a lot when navigating between screens Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Allowing Senior Managers and Finance Teams a full end-to-end view across the business.

Benefits are improved visibility across the board and ease of reporting etc. from within Kimble, which in turn saves time and effort.Less time is spent reporting now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

When we founded our company, we planned to grow very rapidly. We wanted the tools in place to support that and that’s why we implemented Kimble right from the start. It has helped us manage exceptional growth without increasing the administrative burden. And we can carry on expanding like this - there is no capacity limit. We are still growing into Kimble - it has capacities we are not yet using. We are currently introducing Kimble Community which will allow us to share information on an ongoing basis with our customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Onboarding is a standard challenge and we are always working on ways to make it easier for everyone. From our point of view, Kimble is robust, but it can be an issue to get new people to understand why it is so important that they put information into Kimble.

Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Kimble can do a lot of things - it has a lot of capacity, but you don’t have to use it all at the very start. You can do as we did, get up and running at an early stage in your development, and then grow into it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We wanted an end to end solution. We wanted to manage capacity, demand, project financials, and realized actuals all on the same system, and we knew that Salesforce was a platform that was capable of pulling all that information together. Kimble was one of the solutions we had heard of, and it provided what we wanted, the road map and the dashboard. We operate the business in Kimble. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

It has allowed our business managers to have more visibility of the process, costs and hours spent in each project and opportunity.

There is a standard deck of reports and dashboards that we have use as a guide for customization. Which has been very helpful to quickly get the information the business needs to assess the project pipeline and costs.

Additionally, Kimble has work very hard to incorporate missing vital fields in a fast and efficient manner. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Reporting sometimes is hard do to similar field names and like any other salesforce reporting sometimes objects are not joined. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Understand implementation requierements of your process.

Learn how the close period process works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are currently reviewing costs per project, time compliance per department/team and time utilization. We have linked this in a way that we can analyze this variable by account, by case or any other SFDC objet needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Kimble is a modern piece of software that ties together the whole cycle from timesheets all the way to invoicing for project managers and finance/operations. They are working hard to make sure that most of the functionality we require is there for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The learning curve seems pretty steep and there were some areas that were not ready for our organization out-of-the-box. There is nothing major that I dislike though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure the sales team really knows your business processes so that they can let you know what features they will not be able to cover and whether they would be able to customize the software for your business' needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Providing our project managers with better project management tools to manage their various projects. Resourcing without the need of spreadsheets is a huge benefit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Kimble provides a centralized view of an organization from end to end and without it we wouldn't be able to operate at the speed and pace that we have been able to since implementing it over 12 months ago.

The out of the box reports and dashboards are easily configurable, detailed and effective, enabling decisions to be made at an executive level down to maintaining a clean and current database at an administrator level.

The support team are helpful, easy to work with and remove any issues you may encounter so you can continue with your task.

The regular version upgrades provide new functionality to further improve and enhance the way you use key features. A lot of features are included based on feedback and ideas submitted through the community. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Like any complex tool it takes a while to learn the quirks and terminology. Kimble helps reduce the learning time by providing detailed and helpful documentation easily accessible from each page. The one thing we haven't been able to fix or work around is the speed it takes for a page to load. Improving the speed would in turn improve our ability to use the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Kimble is easy to use and and a key enabler to allowing your business to grow. I recommend you identify someone within your organization to act as the administrator and a number of people to become subject matter experts to help guide and teach others in the organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Prior to Kimble our business was running on multiple spreadsheets which in turn were limiting our ability to grow. Kimble allowed us to centralize our resource details, the proposals we were bidding on and the associated demand we needed to fill, the time spent on a project, the amount invoiced and the value remaining on each purchase order. We now have one source of truth that is easily accessible by everyone in the organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Strong capabilities to drive success in a PS business. As a systems integrator, we need a solution to manage 100+ projects at a time. We love the time and expense entry including the mobile apps. The reporting and analytics engine is very powerful and once we understand the data model we will have great tools to manage our business in realtime. The ability to model the business and automate proposal and engagement creation saves hours of time especially once we win the deal. We see immediately the decisions we make and how they impact margin and cash flow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The supplier self-billing module still needs work. Many screens where data is missing cannot be changed. Kimble doesn't provide an updated data model and dictionary that we can understand how to report on what we want. Kimble doesn't give customer full configuration access once you go-live. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Be sure to do reference calls and have them demonstrate all requirements Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Visibility to all proposals and engagements

We are capturing all time and expenses in one place

We are returning two separate time and expense systems

We see margins across the business

We can see resource demand based on our pipeline Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Kimble is a very complete tool that covers the end to end operations of a management consulting group with several business entities, countries, offers...

There are many useful reporting and dashboard possibilities.

It provides a really good customer service to help us to adapt the toll to our needs and usage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Some functions such as creating an opportunity or a project require several steps so it is key to have change management and training to ensure data quality is good enough.

Sometimes, customization requires additional invoiced services. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Before having Kimble, we had 2 separated systems to manage sales and pipeline on one side, and projects on the other side. With Kimble we now manage the full cycle up to the invoicing.

We manage all our projects, time and expenses, monitor the margin and are able to anticipate quite accurately our revenues . We use it to control our accounting reporting as well as for performance monitoring, so this is a very central tool for us.

We also use it to manage our commercial intensity and pipeline, with specific reports and dashboards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The way Kimble encourages best practice and focusses on the things that matter most when delivering professional services. Kimble implementation and support services are delivered by a great team of people - proactive customer success managers and a responsive helpdesk. The software is very logical and well thought out - designed by people who really understand how to run a professional services business and who listen to their customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Not a dislike, more of a warning. If you don't follow your processes, then Kimble can be hard to unpick due to all the controls it has applied for you. A data error, which has been approved and then locked down in a closed reporting period will take a lot of effort to fix!

Built on the Salesforce platform - which has its advantages (agility you get from a Cloud deployment, integration with CRM) and disadvantages (some constraints imposed by the host). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Take a demo. Take advice. Consider how Kimble fits in between your CRM and Accounting systems. (Also HR for resource managment, skills/capabilities, leave etc). Include exec sponsors, delivery leads, resource managers and finance and reach a consensus for a target operating model (TOM) . Be prepared to reengineer existing processes to take advantage of the software. Understand delivery models (T&M, fixed price) and revenue streams (Kimble can combine resource generated and non-resource generated revenue & costs) - i.e. services + product delivery. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Improved service delivery starting with project hand-over from the sales teams. Accurate time recording against projects and overheads on a weekly basis. Project forecasting (effort, revenue, costs) and resource planning. Improved staff utilsation through targets & progress reporting. Project and portfolio health checks and governence. Management information and insights through top-down reporting (KPIs and drill through). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Kimble is a complete PSA tool that provides a plethora of support and implementation services that drive the realisation of end-to-end efficiencies in our business engagements. It does everything our firm needs it to do and more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Kimble could be much easier for new users. New users need to invest the time to fully understand the solution to enable them to maximise its utility. Luckily, customer success managers and support teams are very responsive and are available to help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Reporting - Kimble comes out of the box with a good number of reports which provide insights on almost everything you may need as a business. The solution also allows us to build custom reports for those instances not covered by pre-built reports. You can produce reports for everything - resourced assignments and utilisation, engagements, sales pipeline, financial forecasting .etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I like the fact that all my most important information is one one predictable system - if everything goes to plan as-sold, I can keep track of progress just by clicking acknowledgements and even invoicing is only five clicks at the end of the month (and we could eliminate that effort too).

If things *don't* go to plan, there are a series of indicator insights that provide alerts (eg "PO Cover running out") and I can sort those problems by clicking through to get relevant details.

The Programme and Portfolio Views make it much easier to review many projects together, spot those that are off plan and often make corrections/updates/contingencies directly on the same screen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

My last review complained about the UI, but Lightning is now settled down and Kimble has now exploited this. This affected the look and feel, but the main benefit is (once I had got over my ancient Salesforce prejudice) the reporting and dashboarding.

The new tooling uere has provided the flexibility and clarity to present more sophisticated information - raising beyond operational information to strategic insights. This is now extending to the mobile apps.

Kimble comes with standard Salesforce reporting tool (and 150ish out-of-the-box reports). Although we have been happy with that, I have met other Kimble customers who have installed 3rd party reporting add ons and they look more powerful, attractive and easy for ordinary users to configure themselves. We are considering those for future plans.

Configuration of security and menus for individual user was once an overhead and needed Salesforce Sysadmin skills, but is easy since Application Roles functionality was released last year. I wish Salesforce would adopt a similar approach. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

* Consider what you are trying to achieve for the business overall, not just feature comparisons

* Consider your requirements for 1/3/5 years hence, not just now. Can the system grow in volumes and complexity as you do?

* This will probably be a transformation project; dealing with growth without additional overhead or maybe taking on new organic revenue or acquisitions. Don't underestimate senior management time required to focus on the right things.

* Learn from existing users and steal their ideas (but also be generous in helping others)!

* Some of the capability is exciting and interesting. But also focus on the boring basic stuff (expense rules, tax codes, revenue recognition rules and revenue reporting) to make sure the product can grow with you without constraint or rework.

* For anyone who is involved in delivering IT, IT Strategy and change management - implement according to whatever you advise your own clients!!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were one of the first Kimble users and Initially we were simply looking to get a grip on our business, save time from emailing error prone Excel files to each other and gain an understanding of the underlying contributors to our performance.

This evolved into using Kimble to a more templated approach to the more to make it easy to drive the most profitable activities.

Next, we want to use existing Kimble data to construct customer contract documentation and to automate the invoicing and reconciliation processes with our own contractors.

I realise that we are able to expand our use of Kimble as we get bigger and more profitable, exploiting more Kimble functionality and using Kimble derived data to drive 3rd party apps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

When it comes to Kimble they always put customer support first. They assign you a support person to manage all of your questions and work with you to make sure they tool is fitting your needs. They constantly improve on how they communicate changes and are building a community of companies to help each other out. They have very informative meetings and have support over multiple timezones to always have someone there working when needed. That is really a benefit for out company as we are also spread through Europe and the Americas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes the adaption process for new joiners is a little bit difficult but once they get past that learning period they really become more efficient. Kimble is working with us to develop on-boarding training as part of their customer library to make this process easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would recommend Kimble to any company looking for a truly global solution. They have the support staff to adapt to your needs. No matter if you are a large company with an internal support staff such as ours or a smaller company with a dependency on Kimble as in my first company to implement Kimble. I have played almost every role in the user side of Kimble. I went from a standard user to a power user. I was then a country operation manager and then supported multiple countries working with global management. Then I lead a team of business analysis focusing on how the company is to work on Kimble to now the global application manager. I worked in locations with 25-50 users and now the company with close to 6,000 users. I can truly say the tool can adapt to any role that you have and let you easily focus on what is important. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use it for the whole process from pipeline management in sales, resource management and staffing, delivery and invoicing. The ability to report on where you business is in a few clicks is very beneficial to our senior management. It makes the system, and our Business, completely transparent allowing the users know exactly where to focus. This increases the efficiency of the Business and gets all of our locations working in a global role. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
