Kimai is an open-source time tracker built for project-based work. Teams log hours against customers, projects, activities and tasks, separate billable from non-billable time, and turn tracked hours directly into custom invoices. Managers get reports, budgets and exports without needing a separate billing tool. You can run Kimai two ways. Kimai On-Premise is a self-hosted version under license with no user limits, so organizations that need full control over their data can install it on their own servers. Kimai Cloud is the fully managed option, hosted in Germany, GDPR compliant, with no setup fee and a 30-day free trial.  Kimai adapts to how your team instead of forcing you into a fixed workflow. Custom fields let you capture the extra details your business needs on timesheets, projects, customers and activities, while role-based permissions control exactly what each user can see and edit. Invoice and export templates can be tailored to match your branding and billing format, and industry-specific translations let you rename core terms so the interface speaks your team's language. When you need more, the JSON API lets you connect Kimai to the rest of your tool stack.
