If you are familiar with Mac's interfaces, you should be able to pick it up quickly. I have been able to create some beautiful decks for my clients that have helped share data, reporting and strategy. Keynote has been integral in my process for acquiring new business. I'm able to create visually stunning presentations. Unlike Powerpoint, Keynote is very easy to connect text boxes to grids, align lines, etc. For someone with OCD like me, the program is makes it much easier to do these things. **What do you dislike about Keynote?** The file sizes can be pretty large based on the media included in the presentation. I often have to use a third party (hightail) to send through files. Other than that, I really don't have much to complain about. **Recommendations to others considering Keynote:** For those who use Powerpoint, I strongly suggest switching to Keynote. You'll be impressed with how easy the program is to navigate and how beautiful your presentations can be. **What problems is Keynote solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am using Keynote to help with client services. Keynote provided 30 + themes to choose in the beginning so you can get it can start to work. The default theme is diverse in term of style so you can be sure that you will able to find a theme that suit your presentation. Another feature I like about Keynote are it is so easy to learn how to use, a lot of awesome feature that can make you presentation more outstanding and the frequent update. Apple are really good at finding bugs, introducing new feature which make you can add in new thing into your presentation every time. Lastly, it is really easy to send the presentation to other. It support airdrop, Mail, Facebook even Icloud sharing. The final product can also export into different format just to increase some flexibility. You can export the presentation into Microsoft powerpoint, PDF, Quicktime and Image. **What do you dislike about Keynote?** Although holistically speaking keynote better compare to powerpoint. Powerpoint win over Keynote on the flexibility of animation. The animation in Keynote is very limited which is not good if you are those kind of person that like animation in your presentation. Easy to start using the tool and make it look good enough. Ability to export as multiple formats (ppt, pdf, keynote). Love that I can use this tool as prototyping tool, even though it probably isn't built for that, somehow it turned out to be one of the top players in the space :) **What do you dislike about Keynote?** Hard to master. Preserving styles across multiple documents (or even one) is a pain for me as a designer. Color picker is so crazy bad, I can't believe it. Importing outside assets is painful, I would love to have a direct vector tool integration where resizing images does not require me to create a bigger image to begin with or to redraw images. **Recommendations to others considering Keynote:** Use it if you're looking for the best tool out there. Be mindful that there are features to struggle with if you want to make a perfect deck. **What problems is Keynote solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am a designer working on investor-, pitch-decks, etc. for my company. As you can imagine, my work involves lots of iterations and updates. I choose to use a graphic tool to create simple things that exist in keynote – graphs and annotations – instead of using Keynote's capabilities. The main reason for that is how difficult it is to maintain a graphic style inside of keynote's primary capabilities. Perhaps it is due to the fact that Keynote's main interactions were developed before Photoshop and Sketch came around, so they feel foreign to me. I'm sure spending more time on it would make me learn the interactions required but at this point, they feel more complicated than they should be. The bottomline is that I can't choose to use anything else because as a presentation builder the tool is amazing. Do I wish it'd be better for designers like me? Yeah. ### 6. This would be super helpful when dealing with complex slide transitions. The templates offered are slicker looking than PowerPoint and dealing with multimedia files (pictures, videos, audio) are much easier to integrate and showcase in a Keynote presentation. **What do you dislike about Keynote?** Conversion of Microsoft PowerPoint can be tricky at times. Most of the time, PowerPoint files can be converted without any issues, but occasionally that is not the case. It's a lot quicker and more professional looking than presentations made in PowerPoint. I really love how design-friendly the program is, with automatic guides showing if items are centered, ability to remove backgrounds at the click of a button, and professional animations. **What do you dislike about Keynote?** The only negative with keynote is it is not available for PCs so if you need to send the file to someone on a PC you have to convert it. Usually when I do, it is on short notice so I need to be able to jump into some software, quickly put something together that looks relatively professional, and have it turned out and ready to go very very quickly. Keynote allows me to do that in the shortest amount of time possible. **What do you dislike about Keynote?** I would appreciate the ability to put third party plugins to Keynote for transitions and animations. **Recommendations to others considering Keynote:** Give Keynote a shot, particularly if you find that you aren't ever trying to do anything complex in Power Point for your presentations. ICloud access will make working from the office or home super easy, which is helpful for when you come up with ideas for your presentation after you've already left the office. **What problems is Keynote solving and how is that benefiting you?** Keynote is super quick to use, and the presets included always work for the types of presentations I have to give. I can't justify paying for MS Power Point since I don't really give presentations, but Keynote is the perfect program for the rare occasion when I do. ### 26. However, its integration with OSX and iCloud Drive and mobile devices is what makes it an amazing piece of free software. Also, it takes advantages of the OSX force touch feature and unlocks new possibilities. Keynotes ability to create quick, nice-looking presentations and its ease of use also make it one of its selling point (its free, though). **What do you dislike about Keynote?** Although there is a full featured animation pack with Keynote, there is a lack of individual object animation flexibility like in PowerPoint. Furthermore, Keynotes cannot be opened in windows, and I believe having windows integration would be a nice addition. **Recommendations to others considering Keynote:** I recommend all to use Keynote as it is one of the best presentation software out there. Especially when speed and quality is required, one can expect to have a decent looking presentation made in 5 minutes. Even choosing the same themes over and over does not make the presentation look dull. **What problems is Keynote solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use keynote to create simple and quick presentations to deliver a speech or to convey ideas. I also use it in formal occasions to present plans and projects. Its nice design and templates allow me to appear more professionally. ### 28. Creates beautiful presentations, but there's definitely a learning curve. **What do you dislike about Keynote?** This tool takes a while to learn to use. Also the auto-save function has its ups and downs. I don't like that there's no 'save as' function; once you start editing a deck (with the intention of 'saving as'), you've altered the original deck. Also, it doesn't work on PCs which isn't ideal. **Recommendations to others considering Keynote:** Ensure your team doesn't have PC users. Animations are perfects, fluid and very nice to use (do not exaggerate btw :) ). You need to present good ideas in your presentations but also catching the eyes of who is watching you is a key for success. **What do you dislike about Keynote?** I disliked the missing autosaving feature but they resolved it in the latest version of the product! Well done! The collaboration and reviewing part must be improved maybe with the integration with icloud accounts, there's a lot unexpressed potential in this tool. Go Apple! **Recommendations to others considering Keynote:** Just try it and think at your results, not at "how the software work". It is modern looking, and most of the features (minus some cheesy animations) work together to create a nice looking presentation. The animations in Keynote are also pretty intuitive for such a basic product. Most features like this in this type of software are very cheap looking, but Keynote does supply some really smooth and easy on the eye transitions and ways of animating attributes (text, photos, etc.). **What do you dislike about Keynote?** I wish that this application had more templates. While it does have a lot of great, polished features, they are rather limited. If you know how to use the software well you can create very unique presentations. With that said, a wider range of options for each feature would make for endless possibilities. With the price point being so low, I would probably invest in purchasing an extras pack of more features. **What problems is Keynote solving and how is that benefiting you?** Simplicity and easy-of-use creates a really quick and easy workflow. If you have to make a lot of presentations I would highly recommend learning this software; it is pretty easy to pickup. Many of the animations are easy to use and add a higher level of value to your presentation. ### 31. Examples include layout tools like positioning guides/snapping, size guides, and layout keyboard shortcuts & modifiers as well as design features like great typography and color options. The presenter view mode is also very good and includes a status indicator that shows when builds/animations have successfully run on the live display. It has good support for Microsoft PPT and PPTX files as well (both import and export). Slides can be exported to a variety of different formats and qualities. **What do you dislike about Keynote?** There is a bit of a learning curve as many of the more advanced options can be hidden behind 2 to 4 layers of menus/tabs/sidebar sections. The file format is a bit cumbersome and not as widely compatible as PowerPoint's PPTX (but Keynote supports PPTX import and export). **Recommendations to others considering Keynote:** In an all-Mac environment, Keynote is absolutely perfect. It is great being able to go from my laptop over to my iPad or phone and being able to continue to work on my project. I enjoy how easy it is to save as a powering for those who don't have apple products! I also enjoy how easy it is to create a chart, and how nice they look in the presentation. For a lot of presentation creators, the charts can end up bringing down the appearance of the presentation, but with keynote the multitude of different types of charts and the ease of changing their appearance makes this product one of the best. **What do you dislike about Keynote?** I wish there was a way for those who don't have apple products to be able to use keynote because i love the appearance of it. If i wanted to end up making the product a powerpoint file, I would have just used powerpoint to begin with.
