"Evaluating Kentico: A Scalable Solution for Enterprise Content Management"
5/5
What do you like best about Kentico?

Kentico stands out for its all-in-one digital experience platform that seamlessly combines content management, digital marketing, and e-commerce capabilities. One of its strongest features is the flexibility of its modular architecture, allowing developers to customize and extend functionality without compromising performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kentico?

In certain cases, the documentation can be inconsistent or lacking in depth, particularly for more complex customization scenarios. This sometimes leads to increased development time as teams must explore workarounds or consult external forums.

Additionally, upgrade processes between major versions (e.g., from Kentico CMS to Kentico Xperience) can be resource-intensive and complex, requiring careful planning and often custom migration work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jonathan Kentico of Kentico

We’re glad to hear that you value Kentico’s all-in-one approach and modular flexibility—it’s exactly what we aim for in empowering teams to build tailored digital experiences efficiently.

We also appreciate your feedback on documentation and the upgrade process. While we continue to enhance our official documentation (docs.kentico.com), we encourage you to leverage the Kentico Community and DevNet Q&A for deeper customization topics, where both product experts and developers share real-world solutions.

Regarding major upgrades, you're absolutely right—they do require planning. To support smoother transitions, we recommend exploring our Upgrade Toolkit and consulting our support team for tailored guidance.

"User-friendly, uncomplicated!"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Kentico?

Kentico can do so much. There's a lot of flexibility in page design, layouts, templates, etc., that, when set up properly, can really enable the user to do a lot with it without a lot of complicated work required. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kentico?

It's a two-sided coin... in order to make it easy to use, it has to be set up and implemented in the correct way. Assuming that's done, then it makes things easy. But it's crucial to have the right implementation partner who can help set things up properly for you, otherwise you'll need to rely on a decent amount of additional development work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jonathan Kentico of Kentico

It’s great to hear Kentico is empowering your small team to manage a robust site with ease. You’re absolutely right—successful setup makes all the difference. That’s why we always recommend working with a certified implementation partner to unlock the platform’s full potential. Appreciate you being part of the Kentico community!

What do you like best about Kentico?

Kentico is a commercial-grade CMS, and if you are a digital agency that supports its customers day in and day out, you need the same support from the vendor unlike open source options with no central support ownership. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kentico?

Out of the box, the tool can be light on widgets like you would see in other CMS systems; however, this is by design and Many useless widgets was culled from previous versions. Now with Xperience ready to roll the CMS market just got real! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jonathan Kentico of Kentico

Thanks for highlighting the value of having a reliable, supported CMS. You're absolutely right—having a vendor-backed platform like Kentico makes a big difference for agencies managing client needs around the clock.

As for the lighter widget set, it's a conscious shift toward purposeful tools over bloat. With Xperience by Kentico, you can build exactly what you need, keeping the editing experience clean and focused.

"Kentico 13 - The best .NET-based CMS."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Kentico?

The amount of useful options.

- Custom Table Data (the most used feature in my company!)

- Page Custom Types

- Page Builder

- Reuse content across multiple pages

- Search index and functionality across content fields

- Media Library

- Workflows

- Widget creation Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kentico?

Not happy with the new version upgrade to Xperience by Kentico (XbyK).

Not just that XbK offers less features, but we need to start from scratch.

We need to re-develop all the customizations.

The migration tool from K13 to XbK is a joke.

And the lack of code examples for XbK is beyond frustration!

No more Custom Table Data in XbK! Why!?! The best possible feature Kentico had and they decided to get rid of it! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jonathan Kentico of Kentico

We understand your frustration with the transition to Xperience by Kentico. The shift from Kentico 13 to Xperience was a deliberate move to retire aging technology and create a future-proof platform built on modern standards like .NET Core and React. While this means some familiar features like Custom Table Data are no longer present, we've enhanced other capabilities—such as content items and custom object types—to offer greater flexibility, scalability, and multichannel content delivery. We know change can be challenging, especially when it requires reworking customizations, but our goal was to create a streamlined experience for marketers and developers alike in today’s fast-evolving digital landscape.

To support this transition, we offer the Xperience by Kentico Migration Toolkit, including the Kentico Migration Tool, which is regularly updated based on customer feedback. We also provide detailed documentation, open-source code samples, and training resources to help developers adapt efficiently. While Xperience doesn’t mirror all legacy features, it introduces a host of new ones focused on content reuse, personalization, AI-assisted marketing, and cross-channel engagement. We're committed to helping our customers succeed and appreciate all feedback as it helps us evolve the product to meet your needs.

Kentico offers a strong all-in-one solution with great extensibility for developers and a user-friendly interface for content editors. Some features feel overly complex for smaller projects. The licensing model can be expensive, and documentation occasionally lacks depth for advanced scenarios. Upgrades between major versions can also be time-consuming and require careful planning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jonathan Kentico of Kentico
