It is one of the only completely offline password managers, which means that theoretically it is safer than the cloud-based alternatives (LastPass, etc.). There is no SaaS-portal which can be broken into and to gain access to your passwords, someone would need to steal the file from your device's hard drive, and decrypt it with your master password. The UI itself is quite clunky, similar to Windows file explorer, but it is easy to use. You create folders, give items' names and do simple copy/paste operations to the system you want to log in to. The system is easy to set up. You install an app on your device, create a place to store your KeePass file and you can start entering in credentials. The product is used by many individuals, as well as a lot of smaller companies, so there is a lot of good online support to be found if you have a problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about KeePass? Sharing password across multiple people is a challenge; you need to either have the same password in each individual user's KeePass file, or you need to share a single KeePass file among multiple people, which has a couple of security risks if not implemented properly. The biggest problem for me was as an administrator, where you are trying to make sure that all passwords are unique, strong and secure. I want to be sure that everyone in the organisation has: - A good password to get into their vault - Every password in their vault is unique and strong - Every KeePass file is stored in a safe place - Every KeePass file is backed up somewhere in case a device crashes Any one of these files is not impossible to do with KeePass, but it does require a lot of manual steps and ultimately, if the size of your user base grows, it becomes a managerial nightmare. KeePass is great to ensure that every password created for every online system is unique and strong, without forcing everyone to memorize them. Now I can tell users to just remember 1 password; the one they need to get into their vault, and then the product will remember the other passwords for you. The password database protection come with master password and key file, without those both thing anyone just can't do with my password database. So, it's give me a lot of security. 2. KeePass has become my go-to solution for secure password management, and as a user, there are a few features that I appreciate. Firstly, I really value the fact that KeePass is an offline solution, ensuring that my sensitive data stays within my control at all times. It seamlessly integrates into my backup routine, allowing me to incorporate it into my overall data protection strategy. The absence of a built-in cloud sync option is actually a benefit for me as it grants me the freedom to choose my preferred cloud sync and backup providers. I fine the implementation of plugins lacking. Unfortunately, there is no straightforward way to determine the trustworthiness of individual plugins. Consequently, I choose to err on the side of caution and refrain from using any of them. I believe it would greatly enhance the user experience if KeePass could provide a more reliable system for verifying the authenticity and security of plugins. It can import/export from other password managers, like google passwords using CSV format. The database is one file that you can transfer when buying a new computer. Instead of all the fancy cloud-based password managers of today, KeePass provides the old-school "Windows-application" user experience into password management. If storing the password file on a network location instead of a local computer and having multiple users in the company for the same password file, some conflicts can arise, such as one person having a file open that another person is updating.
