For us at www.musheez.eu we have to track batches of premium organic mushroom extracts. traceability is a key requirement for our clients. We wish the onboarding process allowed for more experimentation as we learned the system. For example, we wanted to start from scratch by deleting/re-importing our Shopify orders but were unable to do so. We later learned that once orders are deleted, there is no way of recovering them, even after re-importing UNLESS you completely wipe the entire account and start from complete scratch. Fortunately, however, Katana allows us to export data into spreadsheets, which we then used to populate templates. It would be nice if we could directly export/import all data for a backup type of scenario without having to restructure spreadsheets, but we're happy the option was there nonetheless. We reviewed multiple MRP/ERP systems and very quickly concluded that Katana was by far the easiest to use, which was a number 1 priority. If a system is overcomplicated or difficult to use, then the users and management won't see the benefit of it. Katana ticked all the boxes for us, and we were delighted. The system is intuitive and user-friendly - I like the logical steps to build the initial material, product and BOM data sets (and the tutorial videos to provide easy to follow step-by-step guidance). Katana provides functionality to deal with highly customised products (without the need to create product SKUs for every possible variant combination) - given the majority of my products are customised, this feature is extremely important to me. Easy integration with Shopify and Xero are also important features. And finally, the technical support and sales teams are super helpful and easily accessible. Additional functionality / features that would be helpful to me include: (a) the ability to integrate Katana and Shopify at the material level as well as the product level [so that material availability could be reflected via Shopify and the front-end website], (b) the ability for Katana to identify a product as being 'out of stock' if one of the materials in the BOM is out of stock - and for this information to be reflected back in Shopify (once the systems are integrated). The visual queueing of manufacturing jobs is a brilliant feature. It is easy to schedule work and plan for materials to arrive as they become needed. Katana is LAGGY. The lag is acceptable at first but becomes frustrating when you are in it for hours per day.

It also lacks some capabilities, like multiple sales price levels for each stock item and the ability to make various items within the same manufacturing job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
