"easy to use Katana Manufacturing ERP."
5/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

The team always helps. They listen to my ideas and implement them on their platform. The program is very easy to use. It helps a lot and saves work time when I can track each order's arrival time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

At the moment, I don't like it when after exporting the orders in xlsx format, the products of each order are separated. I would like to have an additional function that does not divide the order by-product and allows exporting only the total amount of each order. It would help with accounting because, at the moment, all ordered products have to be added up automatically, and it takes a lot of time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to implement, easy to use, and straightforward for the small business."
4/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

Fast implementation. We were literally able to start using the inventory management features on day 1. This is impressive as I have implemented ERP solutions at other companies that took weeks of training to just start working in the system. Perhaps the prior knowledge helped, but I do believe anyone with a bit of manufacturing experience will be able to do the same. Also, the developers are very interested in improving the system and I've had meetings with them to review the areas I would like to improve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

There are two levels of licenses. One that has access to everything and another that can only complete work orders. I would like to be able to define rolls with a little more granularity so that a buyer, for instance, can't change the BOM on accident. Also, I would like to be able to track serial numbers. Finally, I would like a location to document the supplier lot numbers and assign our lot numbers automatically. We've had two different people assign the same lot number to two different items as the lot numbers are not auto-assigned. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kurt Strang of Katana Cloud Inventory

Cheers for your review!

I have good news for you on the licenses front, we're just around the corner from implementing more advanced user permissions so you should have the flexibility with them you need. Once live in the coming month or so, please let us know how that upgrade suits your team!

We're always keen to build and take on feedback from what our users wish, so please do keep sharing your ideas and feedback with our developers and support team - we appreciate it :)

"Good but very long onboarding as the product needs improvements"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

Switching from spreadsheets to a (mostly) automated system is a game changer. We can also see our COGS on a much more accurate level now. It is helping us drill down into what is costing us the most on each product, whether it's materials, packaging, labor etc. Very valuable and more than what we could accomplish with spreadsheets. Batch tracking is easy and accurate for raw materials and finished products. Onboarding staff are helpful and have assisted us in getting it running fully at no additional charge. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

Basic forecasting features are almost non-existent. We would have to pay another $199+ a month to use a 3rd party software to accomplish this. We don't need complex forecasting, just something that says: (if) sales velocity equals X (and) production lead time is X (and) current stock equals X (then) alert on X date that a new manufacturing order should be made. However, we have put in this request and it appears not to be a top priority since they have this 3rd party app to lean on.

The Zapier integration appears limited so I'm not sure we can do this forecasting ourselves without the 3rd party app or paying a developer. It seems very very basic and something that any CPG company would need. For now we are doing this forecasting manually, which is error-prone and time consuming.

The Quickbooks integration is lacking. It seems convenient at first but then it pulls POs into QuickBooks with the wrong date, which causes issues with our bookkeepers.

Stock transfers from one warehouse to the next have no time delay, so it "restocks" a warehouse when in fact there is a trucking delay of 1-2 weeks. So there is no way to account for a transportation delay in a stock transfer.

When selling backorders, Katana will record the sale as a $0 sale. So the new "insights" feature is less useful because on anything where you sell a backorder, it shows you sold it at $0 since it cost "nothing" to ship.

On POs there is no way to add shipping after the fact. However shipping from raw materials suppliers is usually billed separately and at a later date. So it messes with the product COGs since you are being inaccurate on the shipping.

We discovered many bugs in the onboarding process, indicating that the platform is very new and there aren't many users yet. We are still doing onboarding and it is around 3-4 months in. It is because the software isn't super intuitive and there have been bugs, which they fixed along the way but has slowed us down.

We felt pressured by the sales rep to start our paid subscription even though we were still trying to make sure the software would work for us. Our onboarding rep also pressured us to finish the onboarding even though there were bugs and issues and the software needed to be fixed, and the rep was not available on multiple weeks we needed them. It appears that Katana is still evolving. We're looking forward to seeing some feature additions. We have been told that many of the features that we want will be available in the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great platform for Manufacturers of all sizes"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

Before switching to Katana, we struggled to find a platform that fit our unique manufacturing/sales model. Katana is versatile enough to fit most business models. All aspects of the platform are easy to customize and adapt. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

The sales platform for Katana is perhaps not robust enough for all businesses, but it is a great way to keep track of where inventory is allocated. A function that would better identify which orders can partially ship would be welcomed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kurt Strang of Katana Cloud Inventory

Thanks for the review!

I've shared your feedback on a better way of handling partial shipping to our product team, thanks for this suggestion as well :)

"Great tool, even for SMBs"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

Katana has an easy-to-use and convenient interface that allows great use of its power.

As an SMB the tool is easy to implement and can be used on the go without months of preparation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

An app, even for the small plan, would be great. If not, at least a mobile version on the web so we can use it everywhere. Finally, because the tool is American, there are no native integrations with European tools that could save lots of our time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kurt Strang of Katana Cloud Inventory

Thanks for your time reviewing Katana Théo!

What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

How user friendly it is. Uploading things in bulk with pre-made excel sheet makes it simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

How it's not user friendly for Google Sheets. Doen't have the ablility to put location in your warehouse. Not sure how it can track prices without manually updating them? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kurt Strang of Katana Cloud Inventory

Thanks for your review Renee!

"Manage your inventory easily"
4/5
What do you like best about Katana Cloud Inventory?

to be able to keep updated inventory in real time allows to fulfill sales orders in the estimated time, easy access to information without having to be on the job site only requires a good internet connection, another point in its favor is the support service, meets the requirements in record time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Katana Cloud Inventory?

The price is high compared to others, if the program is closed the data is not automatically saved, when you load a large amount of products to the inventory, it gets a little slow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
