What I like about Katalon is the ease of use when it comes to automation.

I didn’t find it difficult to follow courses provided by Katalon or tutorials on YouTube. Even though I don’t come from an IT background and have limited coding knowledge, Katalon has been very helpful throughout my three years of work. What I don’t like about Katalon is the mobile integration.

I’ve found it quite difficult to use Katalon for mobile automation, whether it's for Android or iOS, especially when it's assigned by my supervisor. I’ve faced many challenges working with mobile testing. On top of that, since I’m based in Indonesia, most local tutorials are focused on web automation, not mobile. Throughout my experience with Katalon, the one thing that stood out to me was the low code nature of it where its record and capture feature made it simple to capture page objects without the need to specifically write xpaths or other web locators for it. The amount of time that is essentially saved by being able to capture page objects with a simple click followed by replicating a users actions through the record button and then convert that into a test case is remarkable. Katalon essentially enables you to focus on the bigger picture while reducing the efforts taken in setting up complex page classes and validating plus writing up page objects. Although the benefits outweigh the negatives, if any, I would say a useful addition to Katalon Studio would be making the the Studio Assist AI provide suggestions to the code on its own instead of the user having to specifically highlight a section of the code and have it provide the output. I Mostly use the Katalon platform for API Testing and it is helpful if it can call the HTTP request, but for some cases, we use TCP lister instead of HTTP and we cannot automate the TCP requests in the katlaon. so I see only this downside from the Katalon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
