What I like most about working with Katalon Studio is the ease with which different types of tests can be automated within the same tool. From the first time I used it, I noticed that the learning curve is very accessible, as it combines an intuitive interface with the ability to work with more advanced scripts in Groovy or Java when I need it. Katalon is an all-in-one platform that eliminates the need for users to search for platform-specific automation solutions (Web, API, Desktop, Mobile). It's also quite easy to link up multiple platforms' test steps when needed, like fetching data from an API and verifying it with UI data, then switching to a desktop app or vice versa on the same flow. Parallel execution is not permitted for test cases under a single test suite, even though Katalon employs frameworks like JUnit and TestNG, which readily provide parallel execution of tests regardless of any category, tags, or suite. This extends the duration of execution while executing the Test Suite Collection.

Although TestOps' centralized reporting is fairly good, users cannot view real-time reports for completed test cases and must wait for the entire execution to finish before viewing the report. Furthermore, users are unable to determine which test cases are running in the instance, what has been completed, and what is still to start from the session log for an execution of a Test Suite Collection. In my opinion, Katalon Platform is one of the most user-friendly and effective automation solutions available. Even people without years of coding experience can set up test cases in a matter of minutes due to its low-code approach. However, its full-code option adds even more flexibility by allowing skilled users to write complex and versatile automation routines. This is especially useful when dealing with sophisticated test scenarios that require custom scripting beyond the simple record-and-playback methods. The integrated features are great, especially the object repository management and the seamless CI/CD integration.

Another aspect I appreciate about Katalon is its supportive community. While using the free version of Katalon Studio, I didn’t have access to 24/7 customer support, but the Katalon forum became a valuable resource. The community members and Katalon admins are incredibly helpful, always willing to provide guidance and assurance. Even though responses take time, they are insightful and genuinely supportive. Even though Katalon is an amazing tool, there are some limitations. Performance can be a bit slow when dealing with very large test suites. Also, while trying to see test results in real time, it can be quite troublesome when reporting in Katalon TestOps sometimes vanishes or is severely lagged. Katalon Platform is extremely user-friendly, easy to deploy/implementation, and supports frequent/frequency reuse of code.

It also supports cloud platforms like Azure and the performance testing tool OctoPerf, we can run the script both in platform and can get the highly effective report.

The Visual Testing part of the platform could use some improvements - such as being able to manage baseline collections a bit easier and making the screenshot mechanism a bit more stable.
