Katalon Studio presents a powerful platform to setup automation and/or testing environments. It's ability to capture Web functionality and inputs as well as setting up test case suites that can run on an automated basis, makes it a clear winner for IT departments looking to automate and move to a better testing environment. In addition, the reporting allows you to focus and hone in on any trouble spots and get specific information of what went wrong and where. The ability to group test cases into suites and projects as well as have repositories of web parts to reference across all code scripts is beneficial.

In previous versions of Katalon it allowed for stand alone automation of tests using a batch file without additional costs. Now however, it requires purchase of an engine if you want to run these in the background.

Download the trial version and actually dive in and setup some testing suites. Get familiar with the scripting language and all the powerful features available.

We currently setup katalon (earlier version) to automate verifying single sign on sites we host. The process runs on a scheduled basis, calls Katalon Studio test suites and runs through pulling up each site and logging in and verifying it reaches an acceptable point. We also use in running automated tests on our various APIs to ensure code integrity when changes are made.

The main advantage by using katalon is its eas of deployment compared to selenium and a wide range of integrations and also has dual scripting interface with different programming skills for users.

As of now I don't find any anything to dislike and sometimes the execution time is bit high it takes long time and stuck there. It has performance issues and also will not support more scripting languages.

Best IDE with easy UI

I have been solving many problems. It has cross browsing features and mainly it runs on selenium engine so all test scripts are well organized and understandable.

The ease of starting automation with Katalon is amazing: during an internal course we were able to quickly make it work and have 10 users internally split worldwide script their first Web UI automated scenario with no technical issue or limitation like third party software install / library install / machine configuration...

The fact that a Docker image is provided for remote run with ease and all the capabilities which come with katalon Platform are great comapred to other tools: TestOps website to upload / centralize all tests results with screenshots and video records, visual testing simplified, etc...

Also Katalon does not stand idle and keeps innovating, bringing new features or product, and has both a very active and professional support in addition of a supportive forum community.

Last but not least Katalon still provides a free unlimited version of their studio, with less feature than paying version of course, but it's a clear advantage comapred to competition where often only full version 30 days trial are proposed which can be complicated for demo / training / PoC etc...

Perfect for Web UI clearly, whereas not so great for Desktop App test automation...

I guess all this hard work to make Katalon such a great tool comes with a price, explaining why license prices increased significantly over the years and are now close to competition. Yet it is somthing to keep in mind that Katalon is not as affordable as it used to be.

Allows us to hide selenium complexity and make test automation scripting very easy, close to no code but keeping some dev like abilities when needed.

Katalon Studio is more flexible and easy to understand Automation Platform.

And I am working in both Application programming Interface (API) and User Interface (UI).Compare to Selenium Katalon is less time consuming , that is the reason to automate more Scripts and Productive is more high

Most of the times I'm facing Hangs and bugs. Sometime project doesn't show in Katalon then Run button also does not work correctly and disappear from the their Navigation. Dear Katalon team kindly please look into the issues, It would be more helpful to the users.

Katalon is the easiest and fastest Test Automation platform to onboard new QA Engineers. It also doesn't require backend engineering experience. Most Front-End Developers can be introduced to Katalon and be writing well written tests within 2 - 4 weeks. Because of this, we have adopted Katalon as our standard automation QA testing platform accross all our family of companies, which includes 7 companies to date.

The Katalon managed selenium libraries allow for QA Engineers to focus on expanding test coverage, and not the backend QA code.

You can also expand the Katalon code base with your own "Custom Keywords", which allows you to continue to grow as a QA Engineer.

The Record feature is basically useless. It's just a gimick to get non-developers interested. But soon as you use this on slightly dynamic AUT, this feature writes bad test objects.

Using an AI coding tool like Cursor is much better when wanting easy object creation.

It makes our testing faster, higher quality, and more reliable than a Human alone can do.
