Katalon has very small learning curv which allows manual tester to do the automation testing. Being a manger it is always difficult to manage Automation and Manula tester separatly, Katalon allows tester to become crossfunctional and work as functional and automation tester simultaniously. Katalon supports UI, API, and Mobile testing under same roof which reducese the hassle of handling differnt tools for differnt testing time. CI/CD Is another fearute(paid version) which helps to integrate your test is various cloud hosting providers in the market

Also, it has very good community support for free version and Customer support for paid vesrion

Downside of Katalon is, you have to pay for license if you need to do CI/CD integration, Visual testing, Unlimited Analytical results on TestOps (plugin to show execution result)

I started my career as an automation Tester. Most organizations prefer to use Open-source test automation tools for their testing needs and to reduce the cost to the company and prefer to use selenium with Eclipse. I worked in the same for 3.5 years and when I joined my current organization they already implemented Katalon Studio in 2020 and Katalon Studio was a free tool for testing. My first hands-on experience at Katalon studio was exciting In Eclipse we used to write reusable methods and save them to be used for upcoming projects we need to maintain them in order to reuse them. katalon simplifies that by providing those Keywords that reduce our time and effort by 25% and for reporting we used to design our test scripts in a way to capture the application Snapshot on each step when there is a failure in test katalon in its project settings and added the feature to capture the snapshots of the failures to this reduced another 25% of our time and effort and we have Record and Object spy future and frame handling feature etc.. in Katalon studio this eliminates the half of our effort in maintaining and allows us to concentrate in designing effective test automation

Katalon is a very useful and intuitive application. it enables me to easily record various types of automated test cases such as Web, Mobile, API and Desktop. I have been mostly creating test cases for Web UI applications in our Telecoms environment. We have been heavily testing our customer Service Management tool (Which is web based) using Katalon.

We have an older Java based Customer service managaement and payments tool that we need to automate testing for. However so far we have been unable to use Katalon for this. We have to be searching for other applications to be used for this automated testing.

It would be so great if Katalon would also support legacy Java User interface testing.

No need to write complex codes nowadays to perform test automation as Katalon provides in-buillt functions ready to be customised and used in a very user friendly interface.

Katalon Test Studio has helped me to overcome the issue of automated regression testing within projects I have worked.

The time for training new automation testers with this tool and the time to write new test cases is very less compared to other automation solutions, hence it is a quick and reliable tool when it comes to implement for any project.

Detailed reports and Test ops provide a better visibility on test execution runs and can be monitored over a historical period of time to track stability of code.

I am very much satisfied with katalon studio. Its a very user-friendly automation testing tool. Since it can be used to automate, web applications, mobile applications as well as web services, It helped me a lot to gain wider exposure in different fields. It supports Java and Groovy language, and since java is very user friendly and world wide used accepted language, so it gains wider exposure.

Capturing XPATH could be better for dynamic objects.

It's record and play back capability also helps a lot in my office work. Its functionality of providing in-built templates for maintaining the object repository, test cases and custom keywords also helped me a lot.

Katalon Studio’s users could be the testers with limited technical knowledge. Katalon Studio hides all technical complexities behind the scene and provides friendly UI with the manual mode (user can drag-drop, select keywords and test objects to form test steps), but still keeps necessary weapons for more technically powerful users who are able to dig deeper into coding with the scripting mode that fully supports development conveniences like syntax highlighting, code suggestion and debugging

At this moment I don't have any negatives on the tool

Katalon Studio is a better solution than Selenium based open source frameworks. Built on the top of Selenium and Appium, Katalon Studio is a free and powerful automated testing tool for web testing, mobile testing, and API testing.

There are a lot of automation tools that do not require the user to be an expert to make use of them. So, next time, when you have a new test project with many test cases that fall into the mentioned situations above, take some time to consider an automation plan to make your release cycle faster and boost the overall productivity of the team.

Katalon is a good approach for whom is new to automation test. You will quickly recognize the the usefulness of the tool. It;s worth a try.

Most of project I have been been through ()simple website) are not too big to make full use of this automation tool. However, I think it would be very useful for big project which need a large QA team. The idea is not really new but has good prospects, worth to be recommended.
